    - Sendmessage Hi all, I'm trying to control Media Player 10 Mobile from an external app. For now I'll be posting window messages in order to control the more basic features - play stop etc. However, I'm having trouble finding these messages using Remote Spy (I can't find any examples using the control - further I'm not sure it even can be used via .NETCF). I found a .NETCF class to control WMP9 written by Peter Foot which has calls to SendMessage preprepared. So for example to Shuffle, you call: Win32Window.SendMessage(hwnd, 32973, IntPtr.Zero, 0) // == 0x08CD Using Remote Spy and WMP9, I see the following when manually hitting shuffle (message, WPARAM, LPARAM): 08CD WIN_USER+205, 0, 0 and then 0111 WM_COMMAND, 9C59, 12CE10 Using Remote Spy and WMP10, I see: 0111 WM_COMMAND, 271C, 2D4AB0 Does this mean that there is no SendMessage equivalent for WMP10? Or can I deduce it from the above information? Or can I skip the WIN_USER+XXX message altogether and just send a WM_COMMAND with the correct WPARAMs and LPARAMs? Help please!     - Serialize a dataset without using a XML Hello: Anyone knows how can I serialize a dataset, without using an XML, in a PDA to send it to PC? I want to reduce the parsing time I waste passing the dataset structure to a XML (and parsing it to recreate a dataset). If i could serialize it to bytestream and pass it througth GPRS to a server in PC, I would reduce the information sincronization time.     - Pocketpc Outlook Object Model Hello, I'm trying to get the Pocketpc Outlook Object Model (POOM) working... I have Microsoft.NET framework 1.1(.4322 SP1) installed. At several places I find links to a POOM SDK, but it seems to be dead lots of times. At other places people tell it is included in Visual Studio. But I can't manage to program anything... What do I have to install to be able to program in a way that I can manipulate tasks and contacts in Pocket Outlook?     - Which development tool? C# or C++? I am sure that this question has been asked a million times, but here it is again. I am getting back into PocketPC development after a one year hiatus. I have used many different tools and languages over the past 15 years so I am not concerned about learning a new language. I am debating on switching completely over to C# or sticking with C++. It is very easy to create programs using C# and I love the syntax, but the applications are slow. I have not seen any major applications written in .net and I can only imagine how a program such as Pocket Informant would run if it was written in .net! If using C++ is it better to use straight C++, or to use MFC? What framework and language are used in complicated applications? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.     - Problem while uploading dll file to PPC 2003 emulator Hello everyone... I have a problem while uploading the dll file on pocket pc 2003 emulator. I have built a Interface.dll under Win32(WCE ARMV4) Debug processor. Right now I want to test the dll by registering it on PPC 2003 emulator, thus i rebuilt the dll file under Win32(WCE emulator) Debug processor. It was built successfully. But when I try to export the Interface.dll to the PPC2003 emulator through Remote file viewer in EVC4, it say that "The specified resource name cannot be found in the image file. Do anyone has any idea of that and suggest me a way to solve it ?? I really thankful if someone can help me... p/s: It is no problem when i uploaded the Interface.dll in ARM version.     - TRACE doesn't show any ouput in eVC++ 3.0 x86 emulator Hello everyone, I'm working on my first Pocket PC application, which is incidentally my first realistic win32 application as well (go me!). Currently, I am using eVC++ 3.0 on an AppWizard-generated MFC application (SDI, shared new in case that matters). The problem is, my TRACE calls yield no output whatsoever and so far I am unable to pinpoint the source of the problem. The application is built using the "x86 Debug" configuration, it runs fine in the emulator, the Output window is on at the bottom of the eVC screen and yet no ouput. Is there anything else I should do? As far as I see, there is no tracer.exe for eVC++ to manage AFX settings. Is there something else I'm missing? Thanks in advance, -- Sasha Tag: Visual Studio 2005?     - Where to place application files Newbie. I need to check for the existence of an update file. I would normally put the file in the application's directory, but then (it seems) I have to hard code the location of the file since the CF doesn't include Application.StartupPath or Assembly.Location. If I simply put the file at the root, then I don't need to know anything but the file's name. I wouldn't think of doing that in a desktop application, but it almost seems like it doesn't much matter where files go on a PDA, or does it? Tag: Visual Studio 2005? Tag: 88313

    - OS Mismatch error I built the debug exe for my Handheld PC and successfully downloaded the build after chaging the Platform manager setting to use TCP/IP as the transport. For some reason,selecting ActiveSync did not work. If I run the exe directly on the device, it runs fine. However If I run in the debugger, I get an error of OS mismatch. I am targeting Win32 CE ARM. In the PocketPC 2003, my SendAndReceive function first send messages, get the headers and download the entire messages, this work very well, without any problems. but in 2003 SE, when I get the headers, the Outlook seems to "know that a new message arrived" and start to download it, but my application is already connected and downloading, so, ERROR, because my POP3 server doesn't allow 2 simultaneos connection with the same account. The message that arrived is marked for download as default. But in the Pocket PC 2003, my SendAndReceive is working very well.     - Error when downloading to device I am using Handheld PC, H/PC pro 2.11, EVC++ 3.0, ActiveSync 3.5. I have an active connection between the desktop and Handheld PC. My EVC++ app build correctly, however gives the foll. error when trying to automatically download the debug exe to the device: The Windows CE Services connection server has failed. Make sure the CE Services is running and retry the download by Rebuild All or Update Remote Output Files. Also make sure you have selected the right platform. I am building for Win32(WCE ARM Debug).     - Problem with DIBSection (Save Bitmap File) Hi! I want to create application that user can open, new, draw and save into bitmap file. Now I can open, new and draw into bitmap file without using CDIBSectionLite Class but I cannot save into this file. My problem is that I want CDIBSectionLite object to be global to CMyDoc and CMyView. Because CMyDoc must use CDIBSectionLite object to "open", "new" and "save" into bitmap file. In addtion, CMyView must also use CDIBSectionLite object to draw bitmap file. I donot know how to do this. At first I tried to declare CDIBSectionLite object in CMyDoc class because CMyView can call getDocument() to retrieve CMyDoc object. Unfortunately it cannot obtain CDIBSectionLite object via CMyDoc object. The error is that CDIBSectionLite class doesnot have copy constructor.     - iPAQ rx3700 Series Camera API Hi All, Apologies for the cross post but this seems to span a couple of categories. We are attempting to port an application to the iPAQ rx3715. This device features an integrated camera for which there is currently no published API. HP plan to release a Camera SDK "in the near future". We have found, however, that the device is shipped with the library "\Windows\HPCamApi.dll", which appears to export several methods for controlling the camera. Has anyone managed to use this API?     - SQL CE GPRS replication troubles Hello: I get this number of errors when I'm trying to merge replicate over GPRS. It occurs only some times: error 80072EE7 with native 28562 error 80072EFD with native 28562 and after those errors I get 80004005 with 28557.     - Numbers and calculations and strange things Hi, I have a real problem and I'm seriously confused having no idea what is going on. I believe someone is able to explain me that. I'm doing some spherical trigonometry calculations in my application and I use one function, let say it is called CALCULATE, which implements some algorithm and returns double number as a result. For better understanding of my later explanations I can say that the CALCULATE computes area in square/area units (m2, km2, spherical degrees, etc.). I test this function on both eVC++ 4.0 and my iPAQ 2210 and MS VC++ 2003 on my Windows 2000 (Intel PIII). The problem is that the CALCULATE function gives me very different results on both machines, for the same input data !!! Here are sample results which I get from my CALCULATE: First, I get the result in sperical degrees: VC++ 2003: 3.9536637543773154e-009 eVC++ 4.0: 2.8474172550380e-009 NOTE: Here you can see how different are those results (?) Second, I convert it (spherical degrees) to more readable units: 1) multiply it by constant 707632.4 to get square kilometers (km2): VC++ 2003: 0.0027977405713030304 eVC++ 4.0: 0.0020149247059840 2) multiply it by constant 710010963049.73752482656869140624 to get square meters (m2): VC++ 2003: 2807.1446098202787 eVC++ 4.0: 2021.6974674540 So, you can see how big differences I get in every case. I'm sure for 99.9% that my CALCULATE function is working well, I'm testing it for 3 days and on Windows 2000 (on desktop) I get very stable results, I even can say I get real results (i.e. real area of my car park ;-) I debuged it step by step on both: evc++ and vc++ simultaneously and I checked every number and results of my CALCULATE internalls. I can't believe there are such big differences beween iPAQ's CPU implementation and PIII implementation to give me so different results of my computations.     - Stowaway keyboard, editing kbd layout files Hello, I've just got Stowaway foldable keyboard (5-row version, with the numericals). It comes with a software for ppc (v1.6) with support for multiple keyboard layouts. There are some 10 languages, but unfortunately no Polish. As I cannot seem to find other workable way to have Polish characters entered from my new keyboard, I seek to edit the .kbd layout files. I looked with hex editor and it looks pretty tough, but I found out that there are people on the net, who actually succeeded in creating their own layouts (amateur-made Greek and Dutch layouts are now available for example). I also heard that Targus/Thinkoutside made some materials connected with these files publicly available sometime around 2002. But now, I am sorry to say, their whole Developer's section constists of "coming soon" notice. Maybe someone here has this Developer's Kit I suspect existed still on their hdd?
