    - eVC 4.0 error at startup & can't install any service pack I installed eVC 4.0 using instructions provided with the Windows Mobile Developer Resource Kit and used the files on the CD. My OS is WinXP Pro SP2 (MDac 2.8 included). No other IDE installed. In this order, I installed 2002 Tools and SDKs, eVC4.0, 2003 SDK. eVC will display this error msg when starting the application: "No primary platforms are available. The build system will be disabled. It is likely that a build system 'add-on' platform (.pkg), installed by Setup, failed to load." and eVC will crash. How do I fix this? I tried to install SP3 thinking it will fix this problem but when the setup updates the registry, an error message shows up: > ODBC Error: > Function: execscript:SQLExecDirect > Return Value: SQL_ERROR > State: 23000 > Native Error: -3100 Then the installation aborts. Also tried SP1, SP2 and SP4 and all failed for the same reason. All this sounds like a dead end. I tried uninstalling/installing many times in different orders. I also made sure that no apps were running in background. Also cleared the registry of any eVC, SDK keys. I can't find information about this issue. Only about the same questions but no answer.     - Is there a way to tell if a specific appointment/task has been modified? I am trying to see if specific appointments or tasks have been modified since the last sync date. Is there a way to do this using Win32 and not MFC? I am writing a small app that needs to be able to build a list of appointments and tasks that have been modified in any way since the last sync. I have looked in the POOM documentation and in the on-line help and I can not see any properties or anything that would indicate to me that the appointment or task is "dirty". Is this even possible?     - PPC2003 no connect ActiveSync? I have installed Pocket PC 2003 SDK, eMbedded Visual C++ 4.0 and ActiveSync 3.7.1. I am also using the emulator and Do Not have a physical device. How do you get the Pocket PC 2003 Emulator and ActiveSync to connect? I have gone through all the help files and been through all the newsgroups? One thing I read that I did not see - When configuring the platform manager inside VC++4 and clicking on the properties of the Pocket PC 2003 Emulator - the startup Server: drop down list box does not have the startup server option. The only options that I have are manual server and activesync. Activesync tells my that my device (in this case Emulator) is not detected. How do I get the two to talk to each other?     - EVT 3.0 2002 edition no connection to device? Hi, I have just installed the Embedded Visual Tools 3.0 2002 edition. I generated the Hello World example (C++) to basic test the installation. The program could be compiled without problems. But when EVC comes to uploading the binary, I get the following message: The Microsoft ActiveSync connection server has failed. Please make sure Microsoft ActiveSync is running and retry the download by Rebuild All or Update Remote Ouput File(s). Also make sure that you have selected the correct platform. Well, my PPC is a HP iPaq rx3715 with Windows Mobile 2003 se. It has a Samsung processor (ARM compatible of course). Settings in EVC are 'Pocket PC 2002 - Win32 (WCE ARM) Debug - Pocket PC 2002 (Default Device)'. I am running Windows 2000 Server on my development machine. I have run this configuration before with no problems. But I deinstalled everything half a year ago. The only difference I can think of is that back then I already had the standard EVT 3.0 (2000 edition) on my computer when I installed the 2002 edition.     - Pocket PC for field data collection Sorry about reposting this but I wanted to clarify more. I'm new to PPC development and I am going around in circles on the net researching this topic. I need an application on PPC 2003 for people to collect data in the field. This data then needs to be added to an access database at the end of the day. No wireless or realtime data transfer is needed, the app is just to emliminate re-typing notepads of data. I want the app to be simple enough for a child to use so I will write an interface with vb. NET. It would also be useful to have some recent information available on the pocket PC for the field techs to examine if needed. Since this will be a fairly simple database, would the best solution be to purchase a third party pocket access product (sprintDB has good reviews) ?     - SAPI 5 and CE .NET I need to implement speech function on a pocket pc 2003 device - both TTS and SR. I learned that Windows CE .NET 4.2 support SAPI 5, but there is no SDK package available for CE (like SAPI 5.1 SDK for desktop pc). I browsed web sites that microsoft listed on (http://www.microsoft.com/speech/evaluation/thirdparty/engines.asp), but most of them have their own API instead of SAPI, and many just support TTS. By my understanding, SAPI is just a set of COM components, is there anyway that I can get these components for a specific platform (like ARM + PPC2003), then use eVC4 write program? Or can I use Platform Builder build a customized ROM image with SAPI support, then copy these SAPI dlls to existing PPC2003 device?     - problem with template class in eVC++ Hi, I'm trying to port a program from VC++ to eVC++.     - pimstore dll for working with pocket outlook calendar Hi all I have just started some research into writing an app for Windows Mobile 2003 for an ARM processor device, so please excuse my in-experience or any stupid questions... What I would like to do : ---------------------------- I would like to write an app for a Pocket PC running Windows Mobile 2003 that can take data from a received SMS message and create a new calendar appointment using some of that data. However the part about getting the data from an SMS is the second phase and all I'm concentrating on right now is being able to add,delete and view appointments/calendar items. What I have done : ---------------------- I have created a windows mobile app using visual studio .Net and VB.Net and have got the basic frontend of the prototype that I want to demo for my boss. All using the Windows Mobile 2003 emulator. Where I am stuck : ---------------------- I want to create a new calendar entry. So I try import the pimstore.dll for the arm processor however it is not a valid assembly, presumably because the .Net compact framework doesn't allow COM dll's to be referenced as in a normal .Net desktop application. So I use the tlbimp.exe function to change the pimstore.dll to a pimstoreM.dll. Now this file I can import into my Mobile app but with an error that the import may or may not be for the correct platform. ?? Once that has been added, I cannot view the reference in the object browser as normal, but I can type all the coding using the normal pimstore.dll interfaces, without any errors indicated by the blue underlining. However when I compile the app i get the following : 1) Error: The dependency 'mscorlib, Version=1.0.5000.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=969db8053d3322ac' in project 'Diarise' cannot be copied to the run directory because it would conflict with dependency 'mscorlib, Version=1.0.5000.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089'. and 2) Error: The dependency 'mscorlib, Version=1.0.5000.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' in project 'Diarise' cannot be copied to the run directory because it would conflict with dependency 'mscorlib, Version=1.0.5000.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=969db8053d3322ac'. I writes a string into FileStream with BinaryWriter and I need to know the size (in bytes) of the string before it stores in the FileStream.     - USB KITL implementation problem. I am developing with Magento. I have tried to implement USB KITL in our device and met a problem. I have refered Intel Mainstone BSP and some part of code I have modified and some part copy&pasted. I have downloaded image with USB download program that our team developed. and then unplug and plug USB cable then Intel Xscale reference design device was attached After attaching device in platform builder 5.0, pfnEncode and pfnSend function is called but after that pfnRecv function does not seem to work properly. pfnRecv function is called repeatedly till I shutdown device. and message shows no packet is received(packet size is 0) and sometimes checksum does not same as crc and pfnRecv function is called time and time again. I almost copy & pasted pfnRecv function from Mainstone BSP which I have confirmed USB kitl works properly and I don't think there is problem in this function. I have no idea what is wrong.     - LSP on PocketPC 2003 (Win CE 4.2) Hi, I am trying to install LSP Sample application on Pocket PC 2003. I build the sample code. I also made the registry entries under HKLM\Comm\WS2\LSP\<my lsp> to load the lsp dll during startup. I also implemented DllRegisterServer function in the LSP.dll which will install the lsp. After all this when I re-start the pocket pc, through Remote process viewer I can see that under Device.exe my LSP.dll is getting loaded. But DllRegisterServer() is not getting called by WinCE which will install the LSP. I can say this because this function is making some registry entries and none of them has been created. Other problem is that my LSP is getting loaded only under Device.exe, not under other Apps like iExplorer etc. To debug the problem I used a logging dll. When I start logging messages using this dll from the DllMain (in the LSP.dll), my Pocket PC is frozen and does not boot and needs hard reset. Any idea why?     - How to find out whether an application is DPI / Hi-Res aware? Hi, My driver manages applications by sending them various events including mouse up/down messages. It used to work for many years until this madness started with Windows Mobile 2003 SE emulation layer. Currently I have Dell X50 VGA and iPaq 4700 VGA. My driver works OK in Excel, but fails in Word. I found that when I post WM_LBUTTONDOWN to Word, the emulation layer divides all coordinates by 2. It appears that Word is treated as a "legacy" application, but "Excel" as a "DPI-aware" application. To allow my driver to work with legacy applications I need to double the coordinates for them. Question: how can I figure out which application is "legacy" and which is "DPI-aware"? Is there an API or a flag for that? Or should I try to open the executable file and check for the subsystem version and "HI_RES_AWARE" resource (this would be very inconvenient)?     - IrDA Problem Hi, I have some problems whit infrared with Pocket PC h2210 If Pocket PC stop while it is sending data via infrared to printer (ex: for soft-reset, or battery problem), then is impossible to send anything to this printer anymore. I do more soft-resets and it's impossible to connect. This Pocket PC can connect to other devices (phone, ActiveSync) and other Pocket PC can print. This ocurs until I do Hard-reset. Then it returns to work. Do you knou about this? I think that is Pocket Pc Irda problem.     - Is it possible to detect an incoming GSM phone call? I have a h6365 (equivalent of h6315) and the stupid device does not automatically pick up the call when a headset is connected. It needs me to pull out my device and Tap on the Answer button or tap the Phone button. I was wondering if I could write some small app that would do the following 1. Detect an incoming Phone call 2. Detect if Headset (Wired or Bluetooth) is connected 3. If HeaddSet Connected then automatically pick up the call Could this be a workaround for iPaq h6315 or h6365 limitation?     - Using Ipaq 38xx/39xx expansion port pins as outputs? Hi group, this is my first post here but I hope some kind knowlegable soul can answer my questions or point me in the right direction. I am looking for general information on programming the 100-pin expansion port connector on the old IPAQs. I have a project that is thinking about using an old Compaq/HP H3900 IPAQ as a prototype controller for a plug-and-play research project. What I don't know is, can you use the 100-pin expansion port connector for I/O purposes? How about just output, like driving a pulse train for servos (1-2ms pulses at +5V every few seconds)? Can you access this port easily, like using eVC++? The idea is to slide a Compaq IPAQ into a sleeve, have the USB/Serial connect to a host CPU, perform some PNP handshaking, assemble some control algorithms on the IPAQ, and the IPAQ will then control servos through the 100-pin expansion port based on data being received over the serial port. (For prototyping I thought an IPAQ might be a good for this, we have extra 3900's lying around, eventually this will run on custom boards, but we need a proof of concept for the AI control algorithms). I tried to get information from the HP iPAQ Developer Program site, but you have to register and pay in order to get technical information, so before I put down cash I was hoping to find someone who has experience in I/O over the 100-pin connector. I noticed that www.foxconn.com has a "developers expansion pack plus kit" for the ipaq but there is no documentation with it. Has anyone used this developer's kit, and is this what I want to be purchasing? Does anyone know of any other kits available for developing this kind of application? I am in a fact finding phase right now. If anyone has any experience in this area I would like to hear about it.     - Allocation between storage and program memory Hi, I have build an application that requires x mb of memory. When I try to install that app. onto pocket pc on the main memory, a warning appears saying that "you donot have sufficient memory" and tells me the amount of main memory free. I know this is the storage memory that is being shown. But I ignore this message and continue installing. The app. installs with no problems. I know that there is an automatic adjustment being made between program and storage memory. Can anyone tell me how can I curb the warning message that I recieve. This code should work. I know that the data is there because I put it there manually on the Pocket PC.     - cemapi confusion The goal: To basically make a new message in Inbox from another app, so on a button push (or some action), some text would get sent to a new message, and the inbox with that text would come up on the screen ready to be sent. I don't want to send it automatically, since I'd like the user to make any editing changes and have them send it themselves, just like any other message with Inbox. I'm trying to figure out how to do this w/ the messaging interfaces, but I'm not sure how. Basically, I'm confused over the order of which to make this happen; Could it work with just IFormProviderEx, or just IMessageFormHostEx, or a combination of those. It seems these interfaces have ways to create new messages, so what's the correct way to do it, and how do you access them? IMessageProviderEx::CreateComposeForm - is this a good way? if so, how do you get a reference to an instance of the IMessageFormHostEx that it needs? then there's IMessageFormHostEx::CreateNewMessage - Again, how do you get an instance of this? And the EVC help manual said this function simply creates a new message in your Draft box, but which Draft box? For SMS, Email, I guess the default one? IMessageFormHostEx::DoAction - with the HOSTACTION = HOSTACT_COMPOSE_NEW . Should this be the approach? Or should I do something more complicated, like get the MsgStore, then the correct Drafts Folder, then create the message there... Hi, i was trying to add new menu from Outlook menu for wince , theres a
liitle source about this in internet except from msdn so i try to running
the shell extention sample (ctxmenu) from the SDK but i didnt work. The ppc
says 'Cannot run menu add-in'. I notice that the DLL register is normal

I still confuse about iContextMenu, somebody knows about this ?
