I have just got a PocketPC device from Symbol Technology. I would like
to know the version of .NET CF that has been installed in this device,
and I have an application to check the version number. But the program
returns with an unknown version number. The unknown version number is
1.0.4290.0.

The only versions that I know of are:
Base Ver 1.0.2268.0
SP1 1.0.3111.0
SP2 1.0.3316.0

Is the version 1.0.4290.0 the SP3 version of .NET CF?

I find the version number by using a .NET CF application program using
the function System.Environment.Version. I am wondering whether there
is a way for me to know the version of .NET CF installed in the device
without using a program?

Thanks in advance for any info.

1.0.2268.0 = CF 1.0 RTM
1.0.3111.0 = CF 1.0 SP1
1.0.3226.0 = CF 1.0 SP2 Recall
1.0.3227.0 = CF 1.0 SP2 Beta
1.0.3316.0 = CF 1.0 SP2 Final
1.0.4177.0 = CF 1.0 SP3 Beta
1.0.4292.0 = CF 1.0 SP3 CE 4.2 QFE Release

2.0.4037.0 = CF 2.0 (part of VS2005 CTP May)
2.0.4135.0 = CF 2.0 (part of VS2005 Beta 1)
2.0.4317.0 = CF 2.0 (part of VS2005 CTP November)
2.0.4278.0 = CF 2.0 (part of VS2005 CTP Devember - yes it is older than
November)
2.0.5056.0 = CF 2.0 (BETA 2)
