Hi,

I noticed that on a Pocket PC 2003 SE device, uninstalling a CAB file
doesn't
remove the shortcuts that appears in the "Programs" menu. I initially
thought
that this was a problem with the way I was creating the CAB file for
Pocket PC
2003 SE. However, I saw this happen even with some other CAB files.

Has anyone else seen this? For what it's worth I am working on a
Symbol MC50
device.

Thanks.

Regards,
Kartik

I'm having this same issue. If you find a fix, please post it. I'll do the
same.

Thanks,

Ken

Perhaps the shortcuts were originally installed in the top level of
the Start menu and pushed to Programs later. Uninstalls generally undo
_exactly_ what the corresponding install did.

I had the same issue. I added a check to remove the lnk file from the
programs directory in my setup dll's Uninstall_Exit method if it was not
removed by the normal cab uninstall.

I think this *might* be a bug with PPC 2003 installer as I have seen this
with my installs in the past. We only target WM5 and WM6 now and do not see
this issue on these platforms.

Hi Robert,

You were absolutely right. I shifted my shortcuts from "Start"
special folder
to the "Programs" special folder in the Smart Device CAB project.
After having
done this the replication of shortcuts seems to have disappeared.

Thanks Robert and everyone for your responses.

Kartik
