I tried to use KernalIoControl and it always return false. I used evc 4.0
help and couldn't find the function. The function is in evc 3.0's help. Does
anyone know whether evc 4.0 still support KernalIoContral. Thanks.

Hi Renching,

the function still exists, and is documented here:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/wcemain4/ht
ml/cmrefKernelIoControl.asp. You misspelled the function name in your post
below, that might have been why you couldn't find it. There are apparently
some known issues with some manufacturers not including serial numbers,
please take a look at :
http://www.pocketpcdn.com/articles/serial_number2002.html and
http://www.pocketpcdn.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=119.

Thanks very much for the info. I was using the same code of PocketPC 2002
and I cannot get the UUID of Dell AXIM X-5 which has PocketPC 2003. The
KernelIoControl is not in evc 4.0's help, but I still can use it in evc4.0.
Based on the discuss forum's article (you gave to me), there is no UUID of
Dell x-5. However, in my pocketpc when I go settings - system - system
information, there is UUID displayed. I don't know where it is saved and how
I retrieve it.
