An alternative approach is to work with a keyboard wedge, which
intercepts output from the scanner and redirects it as if from a
keyboard. If Symbol doesn't provide one, shame on them.
Advantages:
Much easier to program
Works for any scanner
Disadvantages:
Depends on focus (scanner output goes to whatever window has focus).
I rely on keyboard wedges, and have been very pleasantly surprised. No
complaints from users.
