Two differents proxies ...
Hi,
I'm working on a CPF file to configure connectivity ...
I have a server in the corporate network which hold http application (Web
services).
This serveur should be accessed using two different ways :
1. WIFI local access using "Proxy A"
2. GPRS distant access using "Proxy B"
I do not know how to configure the device to use different proxies according
the network used.
My cpf file look like this for the moment (simplified) :

I'd like to know if this is possible. The graphical configuration screens
does not permit to input a proxy server for Internet provider ... only for
corporate network. And my internet provide use a proxy to connect to our
local network (dedicated network, no "real" internet access).

Pocket Outlook
Hello,
I was wondering two things about pocket outlook. First off how come
when I receive a message into Pocket outlook, that I generate, a link
in it does not become a hyperlink, but if I copy that same link into a
new message and click enter it automatically becomes a hyper link.
Two, is there anyway to mask a hyperlink in pocket outlook? I was
thinking something similar to how HTML does it, like <a
href=somelink>Some Text</a>. Is there any conversion or anything
similar to this.

Number of com ports available
Hi,
I am currently developing a virtual com port driver for windows ce. My
question is why there is a limit on the number of ports you can create,
that is number 0-9. I can understand this limit when it comes to
hardware issues with IRQ etc, but is there any way to bypass this limit
when i only do virtual com ports? Most Pocket PC and Smartphones
already occupy most of the ports, so why should there be a 0-9 limit?

Windows Mobile 5.0 Really Slow
Hi all,
I have an application that loads lots of PNG images upon starting. This
process takes around 5 seconds on a Windows Mobile 4.2 device, but on a
Windows Mobile 5.0 device (i-mate K-JAM), it takes like a whole minute.
Any idea why?

Expendible Datagrid with Master/Detail relation
Hi All,
I am looking for some code to create a datagrid with Master-Detail
relationship binding for PPC using VS 2003. I cannot find a SetDataBinding or
DataMember property of Datagrid for .Net Compact Framework platform.
I want the datagrid to display a +/- sign for details like in Windows
platform for the detail records. Is it possible to do the same for PPC using
VS.Net 2003?
If anyone has done this before, please suggest me how.

Want to implement a UI design that presents a list of application's files -
allowing user to specify file folders (option of All Folders or a specific

Can not establish connection with pocket pc device in vs.net 2003

I can not conncet pocket pc from my desktop through vs.net 2003 IDE.But,
ActiveSync can connect to pocket pc successfully.I do confingue the
Tools->Options->Device Tools->Devices that use the real device in the
parameters below:
Transport: TCP Connect Transport
Startup server:ActiveSync Startup Provider
I also can establish connection with pocket pc in evc++ 4.0.In the platform
manager,I use the configuration below:
Transport: Micfosoft ActiveSync
Startup Server:Microsoft ActiveSync
So, I notice that there is a difference in the transport method!I want to
change the transport method in vs.net 2003(in that droplist),but there are
only two choices:
Irda transport&TCP Connect Transport,
Where is the Micfosoft ActiveSync Transport?

2 RAPI Question with Windows Mobile 5.0

Question 1:
With rapi syncing to a new Dell AXIM x51v (Windows mobile conduit)
I am unable to use
CeMountDBVol(&foo, lpszWdbName,OPEN_ALWAYS)
It always returns fails and
CeGetLastError();
returns ERROR_INVALID_PARAMETER;
The same code works fine againts an emulator and fine on older versions
PPC 2003 etc. So im pretty sure its not actually invalid parameters.
Question 2:
When trying to use rapi2 I am getting unresolved external symbol
_CLSID_RAPI
and unresolved external symbol _IID_IRAPIDesktop. I am including all
the Lib files from the new windows mobile 5 activesyc directories.
Any ideas would be helpful.

Getting Started
Are there any online resources that will help me get started in WM
development. I am a Palm OS user, and I have read articles from the Palm OS
-> WM OS developent section, and I have been looking through the msdn
library, and I can't really find anything. I have the dev kit for wm5, and I
have created and built the sample project, and I kind of get the gist of what
is happening, but I still don't know exactly what it is doing and why. Is
there any online source that is the equivelant of the Palm OS Companion, that
teaches it all? I want to learn things like basic application development,
navigating forms/windows, creating control panel apps, modifying the taskbar,
writing today plugins, ect. What are good preferably online resources and

Performance of the 2003 SE emulator
Hi all,
Does anyone know what processor is equivalent (in MHz, approximately)
to the Pocket PC 2003 SE emulator? I am writing a cpu intensive app (it
uses integer arithmetic and many bitblt's) and I am getting a very
disappointing performance with it. On the PPC 2002 emulator (x86
binary) it is just running fine. I have a 2.8 GHz Northwood P4, so that
shouldn't be a problem I guess?

Text file question
I think I posted this on another message board that I should not have.
Anyway, I am fairly new to programming for mobile and I am using VB .Net.
I include text files in my VB project, however in the programming what
directory do I need to use to reference these text files?
I need to open a text file based on user input from a treeview into a
streamreader and then read that text file into a text box. However when I
run the program, I keep getting a file not found exception.

Using DC functions on bitmap
Hello all
I'd like to create a small antialiased graphic in my today item, something
that shows a value like an analogue gauge. Therefor I created a bitmap of
doubled dimensions on which I intend to paint my graphic and which then is
downsized to get the smooth edges. But the question for me now is:
how do I draw on a bitmap, i.e. get a DC to it?
Are there any other effective methods of combining graphics that aren't
fully opaque (e.g. painting my gauge's background on top of the today
background, for instance like milky glass put on it)?

More Keyboard hooking question: modifying processed keys
another question related to key handling...if i am using a dll hook
(LowLevelKeyboardProc) to recieve WM_KEYDOWN messages in my managed
code, is it possible to change the virtual keycode and have it be
effected when CallNextHookEx in the dll is called?
What i have been able to do so far is change data in the

Retrieving an Image from a DLL
I've posted a msg about this before, thought I had a solution, but didn't.
So I'm going to try again ...
I have a C# Pocket PC app with which I want to retrieve an embedded image
from a separate DLL. I don't know if it matters, but I call this DLL
"Multimedia.dll" and I use it to hold various images that are used in both
the Pocket PC app and the associated Desktop app.
Within Multimedia.dll I have a class called ImageTools in which I have
various methods. One of them is as follows:

Easy CEdit question
I have a CEdit control that is the first and only control on a
CPropertyPage.
So obviously when the user switches to the property page, the edit control
gets focus automatically. Problem is, it selects the entire text as well.
I'd like to prevent the text from being selected automatically, since this
is a multi-line text editor.
I've tried using SetSel() and various other things in OnInitDialog() to
position the cursor at the first character, but nothing works...all text is
always hilighted. Anyone have ideas on what I can try?

CertChk app with WM 5.0 devices
I have used the CertChk.exe

application to disable the certificate check with WM 2003 and WM 2003 SE
devices.
When I tried to use it in a WM 5.0 it gives me a registry error.

Installing a signed LAP
Hello All,
I am trying to install an M2M signed (Verisign) LAP dll on a Pocket PC 2005
device. It looks like, during startup my LAP doesn't get loaded.
On the other hand, if I install dev certificates and load dev signed LAP
dll, it gets loaded at startup and everything works fine.
Also, I noted that If I run a custom application to load the LAP through the
privileged call LASSReloadConfig(), the signed LAP dll gets loaded and I can
start the password screen from the Settings->Password screen.
So, here are the sequences I tried
M2M Signed Version

1. Custom App calls LASSReloadConfig() etc to install the LAP.
2. Goto the Password applet and everything works
3. Reset the device and look at loaded dlls. I can not find my custom LAP
dll loaded.
4. In step 2, if I set a password device hangs after a reset and I have to
do a hard reset.
Dev Signed Version
----------------------

It has a member variable: CCommandBar m_wndCommandBar;
I do the following to try to show the command bar:

Do you know why ActiveSync 4.0 has not been released yet on Microsoft's
website and when it will become avialble ?

developer preview but iam looking for a link which i can provide to our
current user base.

Sockets that won't stop
I've created a very simple tcp\ip program using your basic send and recv
socket functions for WM 2003 SE. The sockets are set for blocking which is
fine, since they have their own thread, however if I loose connection the
socket just hangs forever. Is there a setting I can change that will stop
this(allow the socket to time out)?
I know I can create a non blocking socket to get around this, but this

Passthru driver on WM 5.0 emulator
Hello all,
I am trying to install sample passthru driver on Windows Mobile 5.0
Emulator.
I created following reg entries in order to load driver at HKLM\Comm
Dll - Mydriver.dll
Order - 0 (DWORD)
Prefix - "ABC"
Index - 0 (DWORD)
I call ActivateDeviceEx() from a application to load the driver. But driver
is not getting loaded. Is it is the right way to load the IM driver on WM
5.0? How to load it at boot time?

SprintDB Pro and a ghost table
I've used SprintDB Pro database a while and been very satisfied. But I
accidentally created a nameless table and it won't go away. It can't be

Changing Exchange-Settings possible?
Hi all
Is it possible to enter the Exchange-Settings in .NET?
The goal is to create a tool which is more simple to enter
exchange-settings!
For that I should be able to enter:
Activesync-Username
Password
Server-URL
Domain
I know that this is not saved in the registry, but how can I change this?

file exist and case insensitive
Hi,
To check a file exists or not, I use GetFileAttributes(filename) to do
it. But In PocketPc, the function seems case insensitive. It can't distiguish
between "Apple" and "apple".
Is there better way to check file exist? I need case sensitive.

PPC and smartphone webcam
I have been searching for s/w to allow me to use a ppc or smartphone with a
camera as a webcam. the ppc would be connected to a pc via active sync and
software running on the ppc and the pc would work together to make the ppc a
webcam usable with yahoo instant messenger and the like.
I can't find this anywhere, so I might have to write my own.
Can anyone give me a push in the right direction by suggesting which APIs I
have to study and how the image is passed from the ppc to the pc and how the
interface is made to look like a webcam?

ListView scrollbars remain visible in WM5.0
Hi all,
we have reports that our Pocket PC 2003 app displays vertical scrollbars on
ListViews when run on a Dell Windows Mobile 5.0, although they are
specifically created with the LVS_NOSCROLL style. This seriously affects the
application.

an OpenGL ES question (glPolygonMode())

I am working on developing a 3D graphics application on pocket PC using
OpenGL ES. I am trying to implement a two-pass silhouette algorithm with
Opengl ES. But I found a big trouble is that in ES the glPolygonMode is not
supported. So, in the original silhouette algorithm that works with OpenGL
(code attached below), what can I use to replace glPolygonMode() here so
that this piece of code can work with OpenGL ES? Anybody here has experience

Program startup problem
Let's say I have a text editor program for the Pocket PC.
And we have files:
a.txt
b.txt
c.txt
The problem I have is when the program with b.txt opened, then you
minimize the window, then open c.txt by clicking on the file in File
Explorer, the system only bring up and activate the program's window
and doesn't actually open c.txt.
What does the system do when c.txt clicked in File Explorer? (just
bring up the window? without executing a new process?)
What do you think I should do.

How to unsign a signed cab
I was wondering if there was a way to unsign a signed cab ?
Iam trying to avoid packaging 2 versions of our data CAB files, which can be
very large in some cases, with our installers. If i could unsign a CAB file
then i can unsign it before having ActiveSync Add/Remove programs install it
on an older PocketPC.
I know ActiveSync 4.0 would strip out the signature if the device was older
but i want to avoid asking our users to go download AS 4.0 if possible.
Further MS doesnt seem to have yet made AS 4.0 available on their website for
public consumption. Wonder why ?

device does not wake up from a sleep system call.
This does not happen, if the Systems is in the POWER_STATE_IDLE state.
It only happens if the keyboard and touchscreen lock is on.
What can I do to prevent this ?
How can I turn on the touchscreen and keyboard lock programatically.
How can I identify, whether the locks are on or off ?

I used to use Activesync API to modify AS related registry keys on the
machine loaded with ActiveSync 3.8 and after installed AS 4 i found and my
API calls won't fail but also not doing anything.
Wondering if anyone has come cross this problem? to be specific if i use
CeSvcOpen
to open the root key and then CeSvcGetString to get one registry key like
"InstalledDir" it returns ""

Hi all,
I have recently started to code in ".NET Compact Framework" with C# for
PocketPC's. And I have some questions to you, Thanks in advance for your
answers!
1- What is the best communication way between a Server and a PocketPC in
different cities? Especially for an easy and reliable way (GPRS, SMS, Modem
etc.) for Web Services and file transfers.
2- Which system can I use for a file transfer between a PC and a PocketPC by
the side? ( "OpenNETcf" functions (DeviceToDesktop DesktopToDevice) etc. ? )
3- VS.NET 2003 and Compact Framework 1.0 (with Service Pack). Can I setup CF
2.0 on this system? Do I have to setup Whidbey for CF 2.0?
