    - Mixing the audio source of phone application to another source Hi, We are currently investigating on how we can mix or replace the standard audio source (microphone of the phone) of the standard phone application of a Windows mobile device to another source. The goal is to be able to send through the phone specific audio datas in place of microphone inputs. Does anyone know if there is an API that would allow sending a custom audio stream from a Windows Mobile device to the phone line ? I know that the phone API allow issuing a call, but it doesn't seem to allow sending custom audio datas (i.e in place of or mixed with the standard microphone), while a phone call is pending.     - Findwindow - how in managed code? Hi people, I have a suite of applications developed for a mobile device using VS2005 Beta 2 and the .NET compact framework. The applications need to be capable of bringing each other to the front of the Z order. Problem is I cant use P/invoke routines to do a FindWindow() and then SetForegroundWindow() due to the application forms being derived from a base class form and visual inheritance with P/Invoke will not work.     - how to get handle of call not originated through TAPI I am trying to write an application to make phone calls using the Telephony API of PPC 2003. If I use "lineMakeCall()" function I can get the call handle . Which function should I use in order to get the call handle of the calls that I have not originated like calls made by the native phone application or the incoming calls. HI, I am trying to get an Intermec 761 device to skip the welcome screen and just calibrate manually using the registry setting: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/HARDWARE/DEVICEMAP/TOUCH] "CalibrationData"="2047,1987 993,933 3148,915 3103,3063 975,3059 " "DriverName"="touch.dll" I load this registry setting using the Intermec utility ITCRegloader.exe on cold boot, then I warm boot and find that the screen is unusable. I use values originally taken from the 761 registry. Note forward-slashes above are actually backslashes in the .reg file. This is working for me on the 760 devices but not on the 761. Any insights? If I compile using DevStudio 5 - for Windows Desktop, under windows 2000 this error does not show up. While debugging an "Windows Mobile 2003 SE" device I was able to see sometimes this was an invalid pointer. Furthermore, while debugging, I once got a valid pointer, but partially through data (say SizeofResource() was 100, and at txt[73] was invalid (while txt[72] was valid)! as it happened the address where the pointer became invalid was at memory location 0x3360:0000 - which seems to point at "page fault" or similar which Windows CE is not handling properly within resource DATA. - Chaim Tag: PocketPC File Compression Utilities Tag: 100408

    - RTS_CONTROL_TOGGLE does not work Dear all. I am using an old style RS232->RS485 converter for communicating with some hardware device Iâ??ve got. This converter uses the RTS signal to toggle between RX and TX mode on the RS485 communication. A problem I have noticed is that when setting the DCB.fRtsControl to RTS_CONTROL_TOGGLE, this does not always work. The problem has been described here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q140030/ for Windows 95. But I also find this to be an issue in windows 98, on my PocketPC 2003 device (TDS Recon) and on several USB to RS232 converters I have been using. Now my workaround for this has been to set the DCB.fRtsControl to RTS_CONTROL_DISABLE, and then toggle by using EscapeCommFunction (hPort, SETRTS) to control the state of the RTS signal manually. The problem here is that if the RTS signal is cleared before the RS485 converter has transmitted all bytes to the hardware device, the communication is interrupted. To avoid this I am setting a delay before calling the EscapeCommFunction (hPort, CLRRTS), but this is really not a good solution since it may delay the communication unnecessary. Now, my question is, does anyone else have experience with this issue, and perhaps know of any fixes where the RTS_CONTROL_TOGGLE can be used as normal instead of manually cycling the RTS signal? I just can't figure it out a way to do that without manually writing lots of lines of code in the .inf file.     - PocketIE ActiveX events differ between emulator and real device? Can somebody confirm that the emulator (Windows Mobile 2003) PocketIE raises more events than some real devices? Right now I have the problem that I get some OnClose related events in the emulator, but none on my PPC. I'm not really sure where to clean up now, since the ActiveX object doesn't seem to be destroyed automatically.     - screen rotation Hi, I have an Intermec 700C device running PPC2003 1ST EDITION and I'm looking for a way to to change the screen orientation programmatically. I have already tried the API "ChangeDisplaySettingsEx" function but it didn't work. After investigating the issue, I found out that the only way to do this is by creating a display driver that supports screen rotation using a tool by Microsoft called, Platform Builder. Unfortunately, this is not included with our MSDN Subscription, so my question is does anybody knows where can I find a display driver that supports screen rotation with PocketPC 2003 First Edition? I know that the Second Edition supports this, but the manufacturer says that upgrading to the Second Edition the devices that my client already uses is not possible. Therfore the OS has to remain PPC 2003 1st Edition... I also know that there is a utility to do this but the customer requires that I do it from within my application.     - Javascript Limitations on Pocket IE I have been asked to help out building a series of web pages for data capture on a PDA. They have asked for a website that can be used by either a computer terminal or PDA - so I have started looking into limitations of Pocket IE. Unfortunately the pages that work in IE do not work on PIE. The main functionality seems to be using javascript to populate a second drop down list based on a first drop down list. This is an ASP page written with Javascript. When you select an item in the first list, the second one does not update. The page I think uses an iframe as part of the solution of populating - but I have also looked at other people's javascript function that uses arrays and they don't work properly on Pocket IE either. I have tried finding a sample of this (as its pretty fundamental) but cannot seem to find anything about it being done on PIE. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!     - Pocket Webpages Hello, I am new to making webpages on a Pocket PC. I was just wondering if there was a way to make a webpage that will create a message in Pocket Outlook.     - 16/24 bits BitBlt Performance Hi all, I ran some profiling on the BitBlt function on a Dell X50 PPC, and found out that the function runs MUCH slower when rendering 16 bit bitmaps compared to 24 bit bitmaps. I thought it might be because the device display color depth is 24 bits and no transformation is needed, but GetDeviceCaps returns 16 bits color depth, so unless GetDeviceCaps is wrong (which I doubt), it's not the case. I'm a bit surprised no one answered. Compression is on my long-range
list of things to do, but I don't have enough real experience to be
very helpful. I suggest starting with Info ZIP:

Also, I just used google
(http://groups.google.com/advanced_group_search) to look up
compression
in this newsgroup and got 77 hits. I took a quick look at a couple and
think you'll find useful info.

There is a version of WinRAR for PPC called PocketRAR. The official site
seems to be down right now (www.rarlab.com) but here's a site that is
