Hi all, My tools: WM PPC 5.0 MS VS 2005 WMP SDK 10 WMP 10.2 Mobile for Pocket PC Please explain why I can play back MIDI by using WMP on my device and coudn't play back the MIDI on same device by using WMP ActiveX control. If I try to play back MIDI by WMP ActiveX then I get Windows Media alert "Cannot play back the file. The Format is not supported." Could Windows Media Player ActiveX control play back MIDI?     - Sockets : Send locking up when network is poor This one is giving me a headache.     - Bluetooth application development Hi, the landscape for developing BT applications on .net cf / pocketpc seems a bit convoluted given all the different stack implementations, application libraries (that seem to have specific dependencies on stack implementations), and microsoft's poor API support / documentation for development of BT apps using .net cf. I am new to this, and what I want to do seems relatively simple, but I wonder if someone might be able to point me in the right direction. End Goal: There is a proprietary piece of hardware which will interface with a pocket pc device over bluetooth. I don't know what the bt stack, etc. is on that proprietary hardware -- someone else is developing this. I am developing the pocketpc side. On the pocket pc side, I have windows mobile 5.0, which appears to have the Broadcom/Widcomm stack. The messages that are exchanged are a proprietary network protocol. I built an application that ping/pongs these messages over Wi-Fi using UDP. Once I get the UDP packet, I strip out the payload, interpret the proprietary header/data, etc. I want to do the same over Bluetooth, but I'm not even sure where to start. I tried looking at Peter Foot's 32feet bluetooth API, but it is not compatible with my device. I need to develop a client/server approach with the pocketpc talking to my laptop and my laptop simulating the hardware device that will eventually act as the server. So, I need to develop both sides of this application. My laptop also has integrated Bluetooth with the Broadcom/Widcomm stack.     - Creating Shortcutss on winCE via batch file Let me explain what I am trying to accomplish. I have a device I want to run a bat file on that clears the desktop, and then creates shortcuts to particular programs on that device back on the desktop. The clear desktop is not an issue, but I am lost to how to create shortcuts within a bat file. The device I am running this on has WinCE5.0. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. A simple copy of the shortcuts from a network drive will not work either because the lnk doesn't keep its association during the copy for some reason.     - Is EVDO available as expansion card for PPC? Admittedly I'm not an expert on mobile device hardware. Is it possible to add connectivity to an EVDO network (like Verizon BroadbandAccess) through an SD or CF card on the PocketPC? We're looking exclusively at Windows Mobile 5.0 devices for the app we're building. I know there are WM5 PocketPCs that have EVDO built into it (Palm Treo 700w, and there are others). However there are also other WM5 PPCs that do *not* have EVDO, like the Dell Axim x5 series. Is it possible to add EVDO support to a PocketPC through an expansion slot.     - Internet connection PPC2003 - VS2005 Hi, I'm developing an application that opens a socket whith a remote server via GPRS and I think the best way is using "wininet.dll" for open the connection. That's right? The tools used: VS2005, PPC2003, VB.NET. There is no SDK instaled (With VS2005 is not needed??) The problem is that I can't acces to the function "InternetDial" neither "InternetHangUp". Doesn't find entrypoint to this functions. I have the same problem whith the emulador and whith the device. The same code for a PC application is ok. So the problem is whith the file "wininet.dll" in the emulator/device?     - Deployment fails in MS Visual Studio 2005 on PPC Emulator During testing, my C# mobile app hung on error that a file could not be found because of a mis-spelled file name. In the PPC2003 Emulator, I went to the settings->system-> memory->running programs menus and clicked the stop button to terminate the app. After stopping the app, I corrected the mistake and tried to deploy the app again. But this time the Visual Studio 2005 gave me an error message: Deployment and/or registration failed with error :0x8973190e. Error writing file '%CSIDL_PROGRAM_FILES%\myApp.exe' Error 0x80070020: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process. I am sure the app already terminated and the File Explorer does not show any associated file is being open . I tried to delete the app but the Emulator showed an error dialog that the file is in use and cannot be deleted. Now I get stuck. I cannot deploy a new app and I cannot delete the old file. and the Emulator setting shows the old app is terminated. Can somebody help?     - no audio using Dellx51v TSC I am trying to get an audio application to run on a WXPro desktop machine when controlled from a Dellx51v pocket pc using TSC (executable appears to be mstsc40.exe). However, as soon as I connect and try to run an audio program, I get an error message from the WXPro machine reporting an "unspecified audio driver/hardware" problem. No audio is heard from the desktop machine (or from the Dellx51v). I suspect the Dell tsc setup shuts down the desktop's audio but cannot find anyway to find or change the Dell TSC audio options - the audio works fine if the TSC comes from a laptop rather than the pocket pc. I have tried playing with the x51v registry and creating .rdp files but nothing seems to work. Anybody know a solution??     - Default push button handling broken in WM5? Hi We have an application that pops up a dialog which contains a listbox with some items in it and uses SHInitDialog() to create a Done/Ok button in the title bar. During WM_INITDIALOG we ensure that the listbox has focus. The user can now scroll up and down the listbox using the dpad, i.e. without having to use a stylus. We are trying to avoid forcing the user to use the stylus due to the environment in which this application runs. Now on PocketPC 2003 devices if the user hits the center button of the dpad our dialog is sent a WM_COMMAND message with an ID of IDOK. Which is perfect since we can then process the user's choice based on the current selection in the listbox. However on Windows Mobile 5 devices if the user hits the center button of the dpad our dialog isn't sent a WM_COMMAND message. It appears that at least on PPC2003 devices that the OK button created by SHInitDialog() is being created with a BS_DEFPUSHBUTTON style and so when the center button (VK_ENTER) of the dpad is pressed the dialog manager is invoking the default push button. However on WM5 this isn't happening. I tried setting one of the other buttons in my dialog to use the BS_DEFPUSHBUTTON style and it renders with an extra thick border etc., but again once the listbox has focus pressing the center button of the dpad has no effect. BS_DEFPUSHBUTTON Creates a push button that behaves like a BS_PUSHBUTTON style button, but also has a heavy black border. If the button is in a dialog box, the user can select the button by pressing the ENTER key, even when the button does not have the input focus.     - Project Idea - SourceForge I have a small project I have written to track lease status on a ppc. Basically, you put in today's mileage and it tells you if you are over your limit to date, and based on your daily avergae, how much you will owe at the end. The app is written, but I wanted to do something like sourceforge so people who knew more about writing installers and such could ramp it up to something more end user friendly.     - AT command I need to write an application to run on an iMate JASJAR (Windows Mobile 5) that will do EAP authentication using the USIM, there are two AT commands defined in 3GPP TS27.007, AT+CERP and AT+CEAP which are used for this purpose. I assume I can connect my PC to the JASJAR, connect through HyperTerm and issue the commands, but what I want to do is to run an application on the handset to inject the AT commands to the Windows Mobile AT command interpreter and process the output. I would assume there would be an API I could call, or even a virtual COM port I could open that would loop-back into the AT interpreter. Any help would be greatly appreciated.     - Serial port output Hi, I have HP iPAQ 5150. Running WInCE 4.2. I am trying to see serial port output from the device as it boots, but all I get is garbage on serial port. I have tried all sorts of serial port speed combination, stat/stop, flow control nothing seems to work. Does anybody know what should the correct serial port setup should for PocketPC? Also is there application similar to DebugView on WinCE to see application log messages? Either public domain or for purchase. As well, I have look at the PDF handbook for PPC, but cannot find any
specific requirements for the five-way pad with a PPC application. Could you
please tell me, what are the requirements regarding this?
