Does anyone know of any software for a Pocket PC that emulates an A/V remote
control and will transmit via IR (infrared) interface to a receiving PC, and
then translate those IR codes into IP packets for a LAN, and then a
receiving app (on a 2nd PC in another room) to translate IP back to IR in
order to control A/V equipment?

So, 3 software apps is what I'm looking for... 1 for the PDA, 1 for the 1st
PC (receiving the PDA commands) and, 1 for the 2nd PC (receiving commands
via IP) from the 1st PC...

***OR***

Of course, another alternative would be to use the PDA's WiFi interface to
go straight to the distant PC (#2 in the above scenario) and then a
receiving app would be there to translate commands over IP to IR? So, in
this case, only 2 apps are needed...

Or even pieces of the puzzle to put it together...

Thanks in advance,
Chris

Hi,

You could use VNC to control the PC from your PPC and
have appropriate IR control software on the PC.
VNC gives you full view/control of your PC over wireless
or even over the net.

There are free VNC clients for the PPC or you could try
our software PTvncGPRS or PTvncHiRes :-)

I had a look at that one - not bad, but i would like something I can use my
fingers on, rather than having to use a stylus - if they put in context
sensitive screens and made the buttons bigger, then it would be a great
solution.
