Open and use for what purpose? USB isn't like an RS-232 serial port - =
you don't just "open" it and send data.

Hi,

As Chris suggested, the USB port on a PPC is designed to be used by
ActiveSync for connection to a host PC. Most cannot be used to connect to
another device.

Hi

I Did search the web and could not find much help. I will read about how
Active Sync uses the USB port.

I am using a Symbol PDA. I think it is about time I give them a call.

Thank you very much for your advice.

Symbol devices do not include Host support. The only one that I know of
(hardened PPC) is the "Archer" from Juniper Systems (www.junipersys.com). I
saw one at a technical show last week. Finding a driver for your specific
add-on hardware still will be a challenge.
