I noticed that some programs for PocketPC I bought are .exe file that
start on my PC and through AcitveSync are loaded into PocketPC. After
I start this .exe file it ask me if I want to install the application
in the default directory, and if I answer "no" - it gives me a choice
of Main Memory, SD or CD card.

I wrote few applications in vb.net. and would like to pack it the same
way, that means to create an .exe file that loads applications to
PocketPC using ActiveSync. Where can I find information how to do it?

Thanks,

Zalek Bloom

I just used google (http://groups.google.com/advanced_group_search) to
look up
install vb.net pocket pc
and got 277 hits. I took a quick look at the first few and found at
least 2 that are relevant and useful.

You obviously didn't answer them then.
Sarcastic sod.

Care to explain your harsh response, Neil? The replier went a step further
than the poster went (a step he should have taken BEFORE posting!)

I agree that one should _always_ google search this group before asking a
question.
I also know that Robert Zaret is usually a helpful guy, and smart enough to
have provided a very clear answer to this thread.

Zalek asked his question very clearly, and specifically. He deserved an
answer with the same intelligence.

As that answer had already been given (by Balaji) , why did Robert decide to
play the role of net police?
I should have added a smiley though to show my tone was tongue-in-cheek.
No offense intended.

BTW - one small point about googling threads... I frequently find references
to answers that have been removed. If you are posting what you know to be a
good piece of information... please don't put a limit on its archive value.

Guys,

Thanks for all for answer and defends.
Some people use newsgroups to technical support, others for mental
support. I am not expert in vb.net, before asking the question I
checked Web and newsgroups, but it did not make me smarter - so I
decided to asked smart guys. I am not insulted if someone use this
newgroup for mental support to show others that "he knows".
The same way I benefit from this group, let other sbenefit too and not
waste time for empty arguments.
Personally, if I have nothing to say, I try not to respond. If I see
information on the Web - at least I will show the link. But it is me...

Thanks again,

Zalek

Thank you.

I was not trying to police use of the net. I was trying to teach the
original poster how to get the information directly. I think the
relevant quotation is something like "give a fish to a hungry man and
he will have a good meal; teach him how to fish and he will never be
hungry."

I was wondering, but was planning to be quiet. So I'm glad someone
prompted you to provide your clear explanation. I hope you will accept
the following as a _kindly_ hint: I, at least wouldn't have found a
smiley helpful because you're original comment was too terse.

Yet another reason I'm glad I do a real search and check the actual
results before posting.

I have been having a play with the examples from this link.
It is interesting that in the "user ratings" at the bottom, it scores many,
many 9s, yet also many 1s.
Conclusion, people either love this, or hate it.

I wonder if this is because the C# example works really well, and is
thorougly explained, yet for VB users, it only goes 98% of the way there,
leaving us slightly frustrated.

So it this a case that C# users dcore it highly, and VB users dismiss it?

It is a shame that MS doesn't provide a forum for discussion of pages like
these.. or am I missing something?
