 - iPAQ 63xx - development for DSP subsystem ... Hi! OMAP TI chip (as base for these devices) has 2 cores - ARM9 and 55xx DSP. For first one all is clear - just take tools from MS site and start: - native or - NET level applications development. But what if I want more? If I wanna use very efficient DSP subsystem? - is there any SDK from HP? - is inter-core communication described anywhere? Questions are related to standard configuration - Win Mobile and so on - I just wanna to add my application to working system - do not break it . And DSP subsystem can provide necessary features (calculation power and effectiveness). For Linux (emb) all is clear - there is kernel port for 1510 chip and one of way how to use and how ARM-DSP cores communicate is described here: http://dspgateway.sourceforge.net/pub/index.php I've tried it - all is working well and development flow is clear.  - How can I register my service in PocketPC ? Hi, I want to write an application that should be running all the time without user intervention. Initially, I thought of putting it in \windows\startup folder. In that case, the application will be launched automatically if the device is soft reset but if the application is manally stopped, then it will not be launched. So, I came across services.exe which comes with PocketPC 2003. I have written a service dll and exposed the resquired functions. I need to format all number to 2 decimal one, are they other work around to format the number ? weird thing was that...i had no problem to compile that yesterday....jsut today morning, i do not know how com that format did not work......  - Handling low memory? Any suggestions on this? I have a PPC application that currently just writes data to a file until the write fails. When the device was out of space it froze and was not even able to boot due to the no space condition. I was forced to do a hard reset. I thought the OS would take care of this, but I guess not.  - LoadLibrary call on Pocket PC Mobile Ed 2003 vs Windows CE.Net 4.2 Hi there, Are there differences in behaviour with LoadLibrary() between CE.Net 4.2 and Pocket PC Mobile Edition 2003? I've got some code that has been working great on a CE.Net 4.2 device. The code calls LoadLibrary to load in a custom DLL. The same device was upgraded to run Pocket PC Mobile Edition 2003. Now my software is failing at the LoadLibrary call. Calling GetLastError() returns "module not found". This situation perplexes me given that the library exists alongside the executable.  - PocketPC over Terminal Service WinTerm Hi All, I am trying to connect PocketPC and run ActiveSync from Winterm terminal. It doesn't seem to recognize the hardware. I've installed the PocketPC directly from the server and run the activesync from the server, and it runs fine. But when i connect through the Winterm it can't find the PocketPC.  - Tools for developping for the Pocket PC/Windows Mobile environment What are the tools available to develop applications for the Pocket PC/Windows Mobile environment? The application should looks like a page with one question and the ability to move to the next question or back to the previous one, let the user chose an answer and when finished, place the unit on a docking, tranfer all the answers and compile the results and print a detailed report of the questions and the answers the user gave and the correct answer and an explaination. Concerning the architecture, I have a principal application doing the treatments I want, and 2 "language-dlls" (one in english, one in french) which only contain the resources that I will use in the main application. So, according to the users language choice in the main programm, I load one or the other dll.  - Resolutions higher than VGA on Dell Axim x50v? Hi Dell sell a cable to connect the Axim x50v to an external VGA monitor. Does anyone know whether it's possible to tweak the display driver etc. to output higher resolutions than VGA, e.g. SVGA (800*600) or XGA(1024*768)? The particular use isn't to run the PPC interface at a higher resolution but rather for a custom OpenGL app using the PowerVR OpenGL ES hardware accelerated implementation. Briefly the client application which is a medical application for pharmacists will have to access a database server for data retreival. Its the first time i am getting in touch with .Net development, so what's the difference between C# and Visual Basic.Net and which one of them should i use? And by the way, which way is better, a two tier architecture with a client application on the pocket pc's accessing the database server directly, or a three tier architecture with a server application in between the client and the database?  - Can not Connect Active Sync 3.8 .NET 2003 Professional. I have the .NET installed 2003 Professional. Before having installed it had the version Activate Sync 3.7.1, and now I have installed the new version 3.8, but already I cannot connect and debugged from the environment .NET . The .NET environment says that I cannot connect to the device. The connection activates sync it works well and gives me connected and I can explore the files of the device.  - Another case of "dllhell" Hello, we have a solution with about 10 single projects included in VS .NET using C#. There are a lot of links to refered dlls. For every developer in our company these settings must be done again, because the links vanish with error or link the wrong dll at startup (for example debug/release version, wrong path). Sometimes the links getting wrong during develop phase. VS seems to load the first dll version that can be found, but I can see no rule in this behavior. What are the rules? What is the right way to inlcude these links in PPC projects?  - wm2003 standard SDK Bluetooth query Hi All Ive developed an application which controls bluetooth in a simple way. on/discoverable/off. This works perfectly on most pocketpc phone edition devices such as the imate II. However on an svp m2000 the standard api does not appear to do anything. I knocked up a simple test app that does nothing else but the bluetooth control via buttons using plain win32 code and still nothing. Is there a way around this? Any info would be appreciated.  - Windows Mobile 2003 SE VGA Screen Bug? Hi, I have a problem and I need your help. I post it again. It seems that the MFC has some problems (or bugs) with VGA screen. I guess some message is not called somehow. This problem only has been occured in VGA mode (QVGA works fine). I tested both on WM 2003 SE emulator and iPAQ hx4700 I get wrong client size with GetClientRect in OnInitialUpdate event. I seems that it's not the only one problem and I found another problem (refer bug2.jpg).  - Personal Certificate - Wireless Network Problem I'm having problem connecting to a wireless network platform: ASUS a716 Windows Mobile 2003 (not SE) issue: connects to the network with correct "SSID" and shows "Status = Connected" however network requires "personal certficate" for authontication and shows the "yellow locked icon" on the wireless icon on taskbar in addition, Internet Explorer cannot connect to any page ("page you are looking for cannot be found") any suggestions?  - Transferring cdb table from Pocket PC 2003 to MS SqlServer We just switched from Access to SqlServer 2003 on the Desktop. When we call the adofilter.dll function DeviceToDesktop with overwrite, the table is created and populated, but we get "error 2146824447 An error has occurred retrieving information from the target database. The destination table may already exist on the desktop and Overwrite was set to False, or Overwrite was set to True but the table is not allowed to be overwritten. A log file may also display." The Sql table is hung until we stop and restart the service. It seems as if we cannot overwrite the Sql Table.  - How to set MTU for GPRS Line I have a project that use SQL Server 2000 CE Edition 2.0(SQLCE), and PocketPc 2003. Communication is GPRS. Sometimes when I run a merge replication, the merge wants to upload a lot of data. I have traced the comunication that happends in the network, for one of the PocketPCs. I can se that the SQLCE wants to send about 192000 bytes. It send the data in 32768 blocks. With a packet sniffer, I can see that each TCP/IP packet has a total length of 1514 bytes. I can see that a MTU of 1500, is used. At the server I also monitor the IP trafic. There I can see that almost every IP packet has checksum error, and is thrown away. My merge replication fails after 5-8 minutes with an error: 80072eff, "Http send request failed." The only way to get the merge to work again, is to put the PocketPC in the cradle, and do the merge through a good network like ADSL or Lan. Then everything works fine again, until the merge needs to upload a lot of data again. My questions is: - Is it possible to change the MTU for the Cellular line/ Tcpip? - Is there some other settings I can change to make the communication more stable?  - How to emulate a pure win32 WCE App? I'm new to WCE but I'm going to develop an application with PC/104 board in a few months. I've nearly chosen the target board (that will provide the SDK and a WCE image so as to make things easier), and I'd like to develop a demo without having the target. I first made an MFC application and debugged it correctly using the standard emulator with EVC++4.0 *** PROBLEM *** Then I tried to make a pure WIN32 application ("Simple Hello World"), but I cannot run it on a standard emulator, because I get the following error dialog: "An application targeting a standard SDK for Windows CE.NET and built for the - WIN32 (WCE X86 CPU cannot be run on the emulator device. etc..." # I noticed that most of the WIN32 apps on the web are being emulated by PocketPc2003 SDK, but is it correct to install it even if I won't use those target devices? # Is there another way to make it work?  - Can't open IR port. I am having an issue opening the com port to use Infrared (IR) on my PPC. So I downloaded OpenNETCF IR sample (SerialCSharp). Everything compiles fine. But when I click 'Open' I get the following error. (An unhandled exception of type 'OpenNETCF.IO.Serial.CommPortException' occurred in OpenNETCF.dll Additional information: CreateFile Failed: 55) The error occurs on line 13 of the code below. So the check to see if the port is opened passes.  - disable IE warning message when loading activeX control Hi, I just try my application on the new Windows Mobile 2003 second edition (version 4.21) and I found a change in the way Pocket IE manage embedded activeX control. Each time a control is loaded, a warning dialog box appears. I didn't find any way to disable this dialog. Is there a way to force PIE not to show this message ?  - Service Provider hi, i'm trying to develop a service provider and it should synchronize some files between desktop and device and vice versa without comparing the file contents. that means every time the device is connented to the desktop file A1,A2,A3 have to be transferred from desktop to device and file B1,B2,B3 have to be transferred from device to desktop.  - Stop the madness - please help? Hi I am completely new to Mobile Development. It has always intrigued me though and I have decided that it is time that I give it a try. So I have come up with what I would see as a simple little application that if I was to do in VB or C# could probable knock up in a few hours. How ever my biggest hurdle so far has been trying to get started. There just seems like so many different things that are needed. What I need really is some direction to stop the madness, and put some order to the information that is just jumbled round in my head. My planed application will need to store data in a relational manner. So - Add, Edit and Deleting is required. I have an XDA2 with Windows Mobile 2003. I plan to develop my application in C# and use SQL CE to store the data. I have installed Dot.Net on my Machine and I have doe a simple Hello world application and tested it in the emulator. I know that SQL CE is based in the JET database design but how do you set it up and use it. The stuff I have read is confusing me really. It says that you need a Tool kit, IIS and SQL Server 2000 SP1 or greater just to work. That sounds to me like a lot of stuff. I have XP Professional with IIS, Dot.Net Professional and SQL Server 2000. I will install the Service pack tonight. I think I have installed the correct tool kit. I also installed the SQL CE Development and Server tools. I still am at a loss as to what to do next in normal application development to obvious thing is build the database. But using what? There doesnâ??t seem to be a development environment for SQL CE. So if some one could write a list of the basic step by step procedures that a developer would go through to setup a development environment, and the applications that would be used to develop a simple database driver windows mobile application. And the process that I would go through to test the application. Like should I use the emulators till I get it working then test it on my XDA or do I need both.
