    - DialogBox / GetLastError I am trying to create an application that is dialog-based. I use the dialog editor to create a window. Then in my code I call DialogBox. DialogBox ( hInstance, MAKEINTRESOURCE(main_menu), 0 , (DLGPROC)DlgMain); GetLastError(); GetLastError returns 1408 - Invalid window; it belongs to other thread.     - MAPI and MMS Looking at the code at http://www.codeproject.com/ce/SMS_CEMPI.asp I can use MAPI to send a SMS message on a HTC Typhon (Windows Mobile 2003 SE). However - I really wish to be able to send MMS messages. As the phone has a MMS client installed I assume I should be able to use it via MAPI as well. By selecting the MMS message store rather than the SMS message store and PR_ADDRTYPE to "MMS", SubmitMessage() doesn't return an error - however no MMS is sent, nor does a MMS appear in the drafts, send items or outbox folder Any ideas as to why this doesn't work?     - Communication between WinCE and WinXP Is there a way to establish a raw communication channel between an application running on a WinCE device and an application on WinXP. I tried to play a video after installing PocketMVP software ... The software hanged and I tried to end task it ... this is when it freezed. I thought that an sms address is always a phone number. Is there a way to convert a phone number to an ip address? I wonder if the ip address is used when sending messages to a chat program such as ICQ, Yahoo Messenger, etc. How can I figure out the recipient ip address? Anybody knows?     - Activate/Deatctivate the numeric panel Hello, I know that with the following method respectively the statements (including p/invoke the methods). But how can I switch back from the numeric panel to the normal panel with the letters? - because when i once switch with this method to the numeric panel I have to click on the 123 on the keyboard to get back to the letter panel. But when the user clicks on a textbox where he has to type in letters the keyboard should automatically back to the letter input panel. Does anybody know how that work?     - Problem with CheckRadioButton Hi, I have a dialog that contains a group of 3 radio buttons. When the user taps on a radio button, under certain conditions, I want to disallow the change of this setting. In my handler, I am doing this: case BUTTON1: if (change_allowed()) do_additional_processing(); else { CheckRadioButton(hwnd, BUTTON1, BUTTON3, BUTTON1 + original_value); MessageBox(show error that this change is not allowed); } break; Running this code, if I tap on BUTTON1, and change_allowed returns false, I get into an infinite loop. The error message is displayed, I tap on OK, but the BUTTON1 handler gets called again, the error message is displayed again, etc. If I do the call to MessageBox before the call to CheckRadioButton, things seem to work correctly. The error message is displayed, I tap on OK, and it goes away. But if I then do something else that displays another dialog (e.g., my application's About dialog), when I return to the original screen, my error message is displayed again! For some reason, the system is sending a WM_COMMAND for BUTTON1 upon return from the other dialog. It doesn't seem to make any difference if I return 0 or 1 from the BUTTON1 handler. It also doesn't seem to help if I check or uncheck the Auto property for the buttons. I'm using EVC4 in case it matters. Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong? How can I show an error message and then set the radio button selection back to the original value?     - Bug in "My network card connects to:" ? Hello NG, can anyone explain me the logic of the option "My network card connects to:". I have a MDA II (Ver. 1.60) with Windows Mobile 2003. I changed the option "My network card connects to:" from "Work" to "The Internet" and closed the Window. When I reopen the networkcard-window to verify the option I'm very surprised because the option is set to "Work". I tried it again, but I wasn't able to change the option to "The Internet".     - Help with linking a Non MFC library into an MFC project I've built a static (non DLL) data access library to share between a PPC project and a Smartphone project. As Smartphone doesn't support MFC (lesson learnt the hard way) I've rejigged my data store library to use STL. ie Lots of changing CPtrList to list<void *> etc. Now the library links in really well with the Smartphone IMailRuleClient project and runs perfectly. For that I created a socket and a new thread that reads all the time from the server. However, the problem is when I close the socket (from client end), my data reader thread (created above) does not close down. In turn it keeps waiting for some message. After bit of struggle I noted that somehow BeginRead calls back the method after 1 minute. At that time my piece of code exits the thread.     - Achieving the functionality of standard control panel applets? Possible? I now understand how to create a Control Panel Applet thanks to this wonderful article: http://www.pocketpcdn.com/articles/controlpanelapplet.html But, I'm wondering how one can get the exact feel of a standard control panel applet (like About, or Audio, or Backlight, etc.). Let me further explain what I mean. Try this (with let's say the standard control panel applet "Clock"): 1. Start->Settings->System Tab->Clock 2. Tap Alarms Tab 3. Start->Today --- it takes you back to the Today screen 4. Start->Settings->System Tab->Clock --- It was brought up the way I last left this dialog (the Alarms tab has focus) Or to further show my point, for step 2 do this: a. Change the date (or time) b. Click the ok button (Save changes to clock settings? MsgBox appears) (continue on normally - step 3, step 4 - from above) Again, it was brought up the way I last left this dialog - with the MsgBox displayed - a MsgBox with the "Settings" title I may add (get to this later). Things to note about these "standard applets" are: 1. When the dialog appears, it still says "Settings" in the title bar. 2. You can go to the Today screen 3. There's only ever one dialog (or sheet/page). If you leave the dialog before pressing ok btn (through the Start Menu), the dialog is left in it's current state, but no longer visible until you go back to the same applet and click it again. Here's what happens for me when I create a Control Panel Applet (I'll just use a normal dialog right now, as opposed to sheet/page): 1. Dialog appears and the "Settings" title bar is changed to the caption of my dialog. 2. Try to go to Today screen, and it won't let me. 3. While my dialog is up (haven't pressed ok yet), if I go to "Start->Settings" (1st dialog now behind settings window) and tap my applet again - a 2nd dialog appears. I'll now have two different dialogs I'll have to "ok" (or 3, or 4, or 5, depending on how many times I do this) I did discover this link: http://www.pocketpcdn.com/articles/today_friendly_dialogs.html And I set the value to overlapped. And it did allow me to go to the Today screen. And it seems that only 1 dialog is being displayed (no matter how many times I start the dialog, don't press ok, then go to settings, repeat) But ... 1. The title still gets changed from Settings to the Caption on the dialog 2. When I go back to settings to click the applet, the dialog isn't left off where it was before I lost focus (remember, I'm going to Start->Settings instead of pressing ok on the dialog) For #1, I don't think it is as simple as the programmer chaning the caption on their dialog to "Settings" (maybe it is). I think that if it's properly coded to act exactly like a standard control panel applet, what happens is that the title doesn't change because the dialog properly becomes some type of child to the control panel settings window. Or something like that. And that link above may have at least got me to the point that I can get to the Today screen when using a dialog .. but what about sheet/page? I can't seem to find a way to get this to work with sheet/page. The Sheet class doesn't have a resource where I'm changing it to overlapped. And I did try overriding the PreCreateWindow (think that's the name) virtual function and setting cs.style to WS_OVERLAPPED. Didn't work. I tried setting the property page dialogs to overlapped - but that didn't work either. For the life of me, I can't figure out how to get this to work with Sheet/Page! How does one duplicate the standard control panel applets? What are they doing that I'm not? Is it even possible to achieve that standard? Thanks!     - evb connection failed; Com1 seems involved experimenting with evb 3 ; developing an app reading a serial port. Getting error "connection failed" while evb is trying to load the Emulator (!?); this started to happen after I set up the platform manager to use Com1 and it seems (2 experiments so far) when I have a device (digital caliper) connected to the port. The eVC 4.2 help informs me that I need to link with coredll.lib and fsmain.lib. The first one, coredll.lib I found, but where is fsmain.lib ? I searched my entire disk: no fsmain.lib or fsmain.dll found. I am thinking that maybe I haven't downloaded enough... ?     - Detect the extra 512MB Sorry, if this is not the right group for my question and please point me to the right one. :) I've got an iPaq 3765 with Compaq's single slot expansion slot. From the System's Setting, the iPaq knows the expansion pack is there and using the battery from the expansion pack. However, it doesn't regonize the 512MB CF which is connected to the CardBus Adapter slided into the expansion slot. My Windows 2000 has no problem plug-and-play with the 512MB CF on a CardBus Adapter. Do I need to have a driver install for the iPAQ? If so, where to download the driver? Thanks. The list auto-vertically scrolls just fine but when strings are longer then the viewable area it adds ellipses on and doesn't auto scroll horizontally. I am working on a vb.net application for the pocket PC2003 and have been
looking all over for sample source code which would allow me to
automatically dial up an internet connection using a modem on the handheld.
It would also be nice if I could programatically set up a dial up connection
as well.

I have spent a lot of time looking around and have not been satisfied with
any controls available.
