    - Using Visual C++ 7 instead of eVC++ 4 Hi, I've been using embedded Visual C++ for a while now, and I also have Visual Studio .NET (not sure which version, I got it from school for Imagine Cup, I found that it's possible to make apps for CF in VS.NET, using C# and VB.NET atleast), but is it possible to use it instead of eVC++? The reason I want to do this, is that I'm working on a project for both Win32 and PocketPC platform. Would make it alot easier just to change which platform I want to compile to, instead of having two projects, in two different programs... I tried in VC++ to add a configuration in options for it, but the only platform that's listed is "Win32". (I'm downloading SP3 for eVC right now, gonna see if that changes anything).     - CopyFileDesktopToDevice Hi, I can copy file from desktop to device. But when I put out pocket pc from computer then again put on pocket pc to computer, my program never copy file again. The message boxes that are shown are : A1, A3, and B. So I think there is an error in the line after MsgBox("B"). I have the if statement to check for a null because User can be (and is currently) a null. This may seem like a dumb question, but what is the method of database interaction that I am using called? I don't think it is ADOCE or RDA. Trying to search on google is very difficult since I don't know the name. The Microsft tutorial I used just went right into the examples and didn't say.     - Timer Question I have a timer in my form that has a relatively short interval and calls a sub that takes a long time to execute. What happens if I disable the timer in its tick event before calling my long process. For example: tim_Tick tim.enabled = false LongProcess() tim.enabled = true Could disabling the timer kick itself out of the sub for the Tick event? Does this approach make sense overall?     - PocketPC 2002/2003, Flash, Linux, MySQL I asked about this a little while ago, on a few newsgroups but time got in my way and I need to discuss it further before I can make a choice in developmental direction ... Please also note I am not an expert Flash developer, nor am I in any way expert in other web technologies ... I have a project that has the following outline goals:- - PocketPC ++ Flash 6 player - Flash application is interface to a database - let's say it's a contact database - user can query and update the database via Flash database - Database synchronises/replicates/whatever you want to call it with parent database on Linux serve running Apache and MySQL on demand or on daily synch as per user desire I am tying to establish what will be the best combination of technologies... the hardest part appears to be finding a way to synchronise the local database with the parent on the Linux server. Apparently if I could use Windows server and SQL Server it would 'just work' but that is not an option at all. So things that have come up include:- PocketPC interface over eVB shell PocketPC interface over eVC shell PocketPC interface over c# .net shell -- Which is more likely to succeed? -- Which is most accessible to someone who knows none of these development tools? eVB and winsock was also suggested to me, but I have little idea what that means ... I found some tools on a search that might enable synchronisation with the server but nothing that was supporting Linux/MySQL.     - CM_ProxyEntries I am trying to configure a proxy server for use with connection manager. I see that you enter proxy entries using the CM_ProxyEntries CSP. The CM_ProxyEntries takes a source and detination GUIDs. Are these GUIDs CM_Network guids? Or are they CM_GPRS, CM_NetEntry, etc... I am unclear on what the source to destination mapping is doing. Doesn't the CM_Proxy add a proxy server to the CM_Network connection, that connection then uses that to push out to the internet through the proxy server?     - How to control the volume in a application Hi, I want to control the volume value in my application. (When I push the volume up button in my application, then the real volume of the pocketPC should also change.) I tried changing the volume registry value under "ControlPanel\\Volume" And after change the volume value and call 'AudioUpdateFromRegistry' in the coredll.dll. Someone says it would work. But 'AudioUpdateFromRegistry' doesn't work. The change in volume value is reflected only after I reset the PocketPC Device. Is there any key points I missing? Or any other methods?     - Problems with "GET" in HTML on PIE I have an .ASP script that proces a form. It works ok on Internet Explorer (Win and Mac), Mozilla and others. It works well on Pocket PC OS 2002, but there's no way to have it working on Windows Mobile 2003. Access Netfront 3.1 works fine, but Pocket Internet Explorer comes back with the error message my script sends out when a field is empty. I am sure this changed from 2002 to 2003. On Netfront, Mozilla and Internet Explorer it works fine. PIE 2003 fails.     - eVC 4.0 + MFC - Events not firing Hello all. About 2 days ago I started to re-write an application I had begun in raw Win32 using MFC. I'm creating the basic UI right now, and I'm having a bit of trouble with events in my dialogs. My base program is a Dialog-based application, contained in my "CEsysscanDlg" class. I click a button in that dialog which creates a CPropertySheet derived class called "HW_PROP_SCREEN" that has 4 pages. Each page is a CPropertyPage class derived object added in by the HW_PROP_SCREEN object on creation (it also pops up as soon as I declare it, which strikes me as odd.) The problem arises when I attempt to interact with controls on my PropertyPages. I start with my "HW_PG1" class, which is derived from CPropertyPage. It consists of: - A text box with a button to the right - A drop-down ComboBox - Two read-only text boxes and was created using the Dialog Editor. My combo box, "IDC_HW_HWTYPE", has one event associated with it, "CBN_SELENDOK" which I already have performing what I want in my Win32 version. But it seems that whenever I'd expect the CBN_SELENDOK event to fire, it doesn't. To test, I created the BN_CLICKED for my "IDC_LOADREC" button (to the right of the first text control) and added a MessageBox call to the event. It does not fire either. I tried creating several other events, and none fire. Am I missing a step here? Are my messages getting misrouted and not being caught by my PropertyPage? Any assistance would be appreciated!     - Help Me with the Emulators? Hi, I am trying to get an Emulator for Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition running on my PC. I am building an Internet app for a client and he would like to be able to view pages on his Pocket PC running Pocket IE. I have downloaded the Pocket PC 2003 SDK and the Pocket PC 2003 Second Edition Emulators from Microsofts website. I see a directory of emulators that are BIN files, but how do I "boot" those files?     - MAPI retrieve recipients of a message Hi, I write a program in C++ for pocket pc 2002. I would like to integrate with MS Pocket Outlook using MAPI. The problem is, that I can't retrieve message recipients for a message, stored in OUTBOX directory. I can list all messages in this directory and retrieve most of their data, e.g. subject, message delivery time and so on. How can I get message recipients? I tried with "Recipient Tables", but when I use SetColumns function I always receive the following error: "Not implemented".     - PPC2002 Emulator and Web services I've got a test app for a Pocket PC app which calls methods in a web service. I can debug run the app and it successfully runs and accesses the web service using the PPC2003 Emulator. I try the exact same code to the PPC2002 Emulator and the code just hangs and eventually after about 10 minutes or so times out. What's going on here?     - Compiling for H/PC v2.0? Is there any way to get eMbedded VC++ to build an EXE for H/PC (WinCE 2.0)? I have the SDK for H/PC Pro (CE v2.11), and EXEs from that will also run on H/PC 2000 as I understand it. I didn't think there'd be that much of a difference between 2.0 and 2.11 but the simpliest (~3K Exe) "Hello World" Win32 app won't run (gives an exception) on my Jornada 660 H/PC. :-( I think I found the H/PC 2.0 SDK on microsoft's site (mplatsdk.exe). Many of the links leading there are broken. But it appears this requires Visual Studio? Or will it work with eVC? Hopefully somebody has done some dev for these older machines. Thanks!     - SQL CE Data Type Question I am creating an SQL CE database by code and have a few quick questions. I was reading the knowledge base article http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/sqlce/htm/_lce_repl_plan_publishing_data_and_database_objects.asp , but it didn't answer all my questions. What is the difference between ntext and text? My string will be less than 256 characters which is 'text' in Access. A description was not given for ntext. Should I use ntext? Is there a supported data type for a long? If I remember right, a long is int16 - a sixteen bit number. I noticed an int8, but are int16, int32, int64 etc. supported? Thanks for the help.     - Synchronizing Pocket Access with 2 PC's I am having a problem getting my access database to synchronize with 1 Pocket PC (iPaq 4155) with 2 different desktop computers. I set it up fine with one PC and one device and synchronizes no problem (using ActiveSync 3.7 build 3083). When I try to get it to synchronize with a second PC, I run into problems. I have tried: 1) Copying the MDB from one computer to another In this case, you cannot manually create a synchronization item Pocket Access without moving the MDB to the CDB, and if I do, I am worried the first PC will no longer synch. 2) Copying the CDB from the device to the second computer In this case, it gives me an error when copying the CDB to the second desktop, but the MDB is created. Then I try to synch and it gives me errors. Finally, I tried moving the original MDB (copied from the first PC) to where the second PC is looking for the MDB to synch it, and that gave me errors. I was hoping someone has done this and knows some tricks they can share. Basically, I want to have to identical copies of an Access database on 2 different PC's, where they both can synch with one CDB on my iPaq. asked to look into porting this application to an HPC that runs Windows CE
4.2 .Net. Are there eVB runtimes in that OS? If not can they be
downloaded? What SDK would I need for eVB so that I can compile for that
OS/chip combo?

No, eVB is not supported on CE 4.x devices (and strictly speaking, it's not
an HPC, as they were either 2.11 or 3.0).
