We did a comparison between download times in Windows Mobile standard
(smartphone) vs. Classic/Professional (PPC).
With the same SIM card the SP is 2 times or more slower than the PPC:
For example - a 3.8 MB CAB file -
Palm Cameo (SP) - 12:40 minutes
iMate KJAM (PPC) - 5:10 minutes

Can someone explain this difference?

You're comparing apples and oranges and it's not valid. There could be any
number of reasons for the differences, including (but not limited to):

- Different interrupt handling
- Different target storage media speeds
- Different target media aceess mechanism
- Different radio hardware
- Different radio driver
- Different processor speed
- Different data transfer architecture within the system

It's like asking why two completely different cars of different makes have
different acceleration curves when you're pushing the gas pedal down the
same amount on each. There are a lot of pieces between that pedal and the
road, just like between the cell tower and your final file.
