    - IMEI extraction using eVC++ ? I do not see any programmatic way to get the IMEI # using an API call for a pocket PC or from Win CE. Is there anything in the 2003 SDK ? I scoured various mobile pc groups but found nothing except a manual way to get the IMEI. I can't believe there isn't a way to get this number from the hardware.     - ConnectionManager and Handle-less Connection Status Hello all. I would like to use the Connection Manager API to see what connection(s) are currently established. As far as I've seen, I can use ConnMgrConnectionStatus to get the information. However, that function requires a HANDLE to that connection, which is acquired via ConnMgrEstablishConnectionSync. Now, if I enumerate the connections, then get the handle in order to check status, does that mean that there will be a connection attempt request for each connection? Is there a way to get the connection status without issuing a connection request (sync or async)? I'm thinking one workaround could be to use a short (100-500ms) timeout in EstablishConnectionSync, so if the connection is already connected, it will immediately return. Otherwise (if not connected), it will "immediately" timeout. Sounds kind of hack-ish to me, though. In case platform is relevant here, I intend to target WM 2003 and higher.     - ActiveSync breaks connection. I using Unitech PA950 (Windows Mobile 2003 SE) device and ActiveSync 4.1. Device is connected via USB. ActiveSync breaks connection at random times. Connection is established no longer than 5-10 minutes and it breaks. When I deploy large file to device the same thing occurs. Unitech doesn?t provide any additional drivers. I?ve read ActiveSync Troubleshooting Guide (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/help/activesync/default.mspx) . My firewall is turned off. I don? have any Network Connection Managers, VPN Clients, Parental Control Utilities, Hubs & Docking Stations and Network Traffic Optimizers. Can you help me?     - Export Datagrid to a file Hello all, I am trying to build a small application that binds a datagrid to an arraylist. I have this portion working. But the next thing I want too do is export the datagrid to a csv or excel file. But remeber I am building a pocket pc application. So I want to save the file in MyDocuments/Personal in the pocket pc device. Then I will just sync the file to my pc when I am done. I have 3 buttons on the form.     - Graphics freeze when user press the power button Hi All, I would like to ask on the way to control the "power-down" behaviour of application in Pocket PC. Currently, when the user press the power button to turn off the monitor, and then press it back, the application is still working (sound etc) EXCEPT the graphics (I use picture box) is freeze indefinitely.     - Packet sending problem while PCC in cradle Hi, I am using PPC 2003 and ActiveSync 3.8. When i tried to send udp pakcets while PPC in cradle, i was not able to send them even though i was connected to WiFi router with NIC on my PDA2. I sniffed the packet but no packet is captured. When I tried to send the packet after changing the metric value(from 1 to 31) of Async in route table, i was able to send the packet but then Active Sync stopped working.     - Error 80040111 while attempting to instantiate a COM component in Windows CE.NET Emulator I m a new to Windows CE. I have a ATL Server that works fine on PC Platform. I wanted to port that component to Windows CE. So I started of with eVC++ 4.0 and Microsoft CE.NET 4.20. I stumbled upon some compilation issues due to RTTI and _com_error. However I could resolve them and now I can compile and register the component. I have used Smart pointers and here is the piece of code that I originally had. CILError::ICIErrorMessageSetPtr errMsgSet; HRESULT hr = errMsgSet.CreateInstance(__uuidof( CILError::ErrorMessageSet)); However, when i executed the above code, i got a error ' Class Not Registered'. So I looked up in the registry and to my surprise the CLSID under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT was different than what I had in my code. So thats my first question - Has anyone seen this before that the CLSID under which the component is present in the registry is different from the actual one? Anyway, i then changed my code to look like this. CILError::ICIErrorMessageSetPtr errMsgSet; CLSID clsID; CLSIDFromProgID(L"Cummins.ErrorMessageSet", &clsID); HRESULT hr = errMsgSet.CreateInstance(clsID); With this change, I can see in the debugger that the correct CLSID is being passed to CoCreateInstance.     - WiFi signal strength I have been using the follwoing call get the the RSSI value.I am using DeviceIoControl() and OID_802_11_RSSI. But the values that I get are not granular at all.     - Sprint PCS 6700 tips or coding! Hi Everyone!! I moved out from Nextel to Sprint because the pocket PC in the reference have a lot more features that my old Blackberry. I had 5 days with my new 6700 and here are some horrible information mistakes from Sprint. 1- This device even if you have EVDO and WIFI access; doesn't support terminal services client (But is installed) 2- This device doesn't allow you to use the MMS:// protocol that is native by the Windows Media Encoder. Conclusion: Sprint is using the Microsoft Image to sell their products but is amazing that when you call Sprint tech support they said that the Terminal Services and the MMS protocol even if are installed as part of the Microsoft Mobile OS are not supported by Sprint.     - DirectShow: How to control camera LED/Flash I'm slowly getting a DS based camera capture application together on the HTC Apache (aka Verizon xv6700) WM5 device. I noticed that the header files contain a definition for "CameraControl_Flash" for the IAMCameraControl interface in addition to the parameter names listed in the online docs. I played with it and found out that the value range is [0..200] in increments of 1. However, when I try to use IAMCameraControl::Set to turn the LED/flash on, it doesn't work. Does anyone have an idea why this wouldn't work? It seems that the manufacturer has implemented some of the interface, but I'm not sure if this would be the right way to control the camera flash at all or if there is maybe another way.     - Differences between VS2005 Standard and Professional Hi all, I've just bought VS2005 standard. Haven't yet opened the box (as I can't return it if I do) but notice on the back of the box that the standard version lacks "Advanced debugging tools, including cross-machine debugging". Does this mean the standard version lacks debugging altogether (which would be a step down from VS2003)? Does it lack PPC debugging (which would be a step down from EVC4)? Otherwise, can someone outline how it's inferior to the Pro version? Also, the C++ compiler in VC++ 2003 Standard didn't support optimisation, for some bizarre reason. Anyone know whether this is also the case for 2005 Standard? I'm quite liking the new IDE, but if I'm going to end up with half a solution I think I'll get my money back. Cheers, Chris.     - MSXML 2, XMLHTTP character conversion I have an application running on a PocketPC 2002 that downloads data via an ASP page from a web server. The PocketPC has MSXML 2 installed on it. The data on the web server has a field that contains a dutch character (ascii code 224) and this appears to be converted/misinterpretted by the "Microsoft.XMLHTTP" component. When I debug the ASP page the part of the XML string that is sent back to the PocketPC is as follows <Field Name="FromAddress1">Ã </Field> However, what is received at the PocketPC using the MSXML.XMLHTTP object is <Field Name="FromAddress1">?Field> Does anyone have any suggestions as to what is causing this? In the company that i work we have Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Team Edition for Sofware Developers. I installed them. In the MSDN I found the toppic : Creating an ASP.NET Mobile Web Application with this steep: In Visual Studio, create a new Visual C# or Visual Basic mobile Web application project. On the File menu, choose New, and then click Project. In the New Project dialog box, do the following: In the Project Types pane, select either Visual Basic Projects or Visual C# Projects. In the Templates pane, click Mobile Web Application. But i can not find Mobile Web Application. I can enumerating Contacts (outlookSession.Contacts.Items), Tasks and Appointments, but not arrived SMS messages. How can i to do ? I must use EDB ? But I prefer Managed solution, if possible. notice: I have tested Mapirule sample from SDK, but this work not for me.     - RegisterDevice w/ empty Bluetooth address? In a program I've written that can use Bluetooth virtual COM ports, it's appearing that I'm going to have to do a RegisterDevice call on some devices to get it to work, depending on the BT stack in use. The problem comes when I look at the PORTEMUPortParams structure. It's expecting an address of a Bluetooth device obtained from the Winsock discovery functions, but I'm targeting 2002 as a minimum so I don't have those available (the structure is easy enough to copy, though). Would specifying an address of all zeroes work to force the Bluetooth stack to do a discovery, etc. on connect as what happens with other stacks? I know that it can be done that way with the Palm OS BT stack, but will it work with btd.dll? I could experiment, but I don't have the need for that or even the possibility of doing it (lacking that DLL) with my test hardware. It's the customer that is having to test it, and no doubt there's going to be a limited amount of patience there. Have been developing C# app on Pocket PC for months and never experienced a problem with real time debugging until now!!     - Pocket PC 2003 SE Menu Not Apearing. Hi, I have a simple MFC Dialog application that creates a Command Bar Menu using CommandBar_Create and CommandBar_InsertMenubar APIs.     - Form take up the whole screen Hi, When user click on a button, I display a data entry form instead of using the MessageBox to obtain the user input. However, when the form is displayed, it takes up the entire screen and covers up the keyboard/Transcriber button at the bottom of the screen.     - Installing PocketPC application I noticed that some programs for PocketPC I bought are .exe file that start on my PC and through AcitveSync are loaded into PocketPC. After I start this .exe file it ask me if I want to install the application in the default directory, and if I answer "no" - it gives me a choice of Main Memory, SD or CD card. I wrote few applications in vb.net. and would like to pack it the same way, that means to create an .exe file that loads applications to PocketPC using ActiveSync.     - Accessing serial port via .net CF Hi, I'm using a compaq iPAQ 3760 running Pocket PC 2002 (Version 3.0.11171 Build 11178). I had a .net 1.1 application reunning on it (ALthough I built in in Visial studio 2005). I'm using CFSerialClass.dll to access the serial port. However I cant find documentation and none of the methods are even commented so its a bit of a black box. Does anyone use this or know where to get get API docs?     - MSMQ on PPC 2003 emulator Hi, I'm having difficulty getting MSMQ to work on the PPC 2003 emulator with VS 2005. In trying to get it to work, I've followed various guides (mostly republications of the same two or three on different sites), with no luck. Each time, although visadm looks as though everything's installed ok, checking the status always returns "DISCONNECTED". This is happening with the emulator set to either DMA or TCP transport. Steps I'm taking to install are: * Set name of PPC device * Copy MSMQ dlls & exes to the Windows directory * Run Visadm -- Install -- Register -- Verify -- Reset OS I've also tried creating a cab file that puts the files in the right place and sets up most of the registry settings (as per ch 8 in Pro MSMQ: Microsoft Message Queue Programming) with the same result. I have 2 questions regarding the chip Intel XScale 270 used in many Pocket
PCs.

When the global interrupt flags (FIQ & IRQ) are disabled, are the hardware
breakpoints set by the debug unit still effective or ignored?

Does turning on/off the debug Global Enable bit (bit 31 of DCSR) affect the
internal working of the Core in term of execution time of the instructions?
