    - Input panel size Hi there, I'm working on an input method currently and have a problem with that. I have a wm2003se vga resolution device and if i force it to "real vga" mode with some app (like SE_VGA) the height of the input panel changes to 80 pixels and my im does not displayed correctly (linited in height and width also, only the top left quater is visible) Other ims like the default keyborad or block recognizer also smaller however some like resco keyboard can overcome this and displays correctly even is real vga mode by extending the input panel to 160 pixels.     - PocketPC parent child relationship (as in MDI) I know that the MDI framework is not supported on the PocketPC. However, I need to convert a formerly MDI application into a format for the PPC. Is there anyway to have a form that acts as a parent to another form. Say for example, the child needs to call a function in the Parent that is open, myparent.calledFunction() ?     - WM 5.0, Digital ID, Authenticode Signing, etc. The product I'm working on requires privileged certificates, which I have on order from VeriSign. I currently have access to unprivileged certificates. These are called the ACS certificates. Even though I'm using them on PPC products, I was told to purchase the SmartPhone certificates. OK, cool. I tried signing a CAB file with one of these via the web-based VeriSign Account Manager, and was successful. However I found on a WM 5.0 device, a prompt comes up that says something like "warning this software comes from an unknown publisher". I was expecting to at least see something that said "this software comes from My Corporation, Inc.". Do I have to purchase a second kind of certificate so that this prompt will at least say the name of my company when I install the CAB on a WM 5.0 device? And if yes, do I need to learn a really complicated command line for the signing tool so that I can have two certificates on the same binaries? Is the "Microsoft Authenticode Digital ID" that VeriSign sells, that you can sign with for a year on any product you have, for $400, the one I need?     - Pocket PC Emulator I have Visual Studio 2003 Enterprise Architect with Pocket PC 2002 Eumulator. I have a development project which works with the Symbol 3000MC. When I try to deploy the project to the PocketPC 2002 Emulator, I receive an error message stating - Failed copying C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003\CompactFrameworkSDK\v1.0.5000\Windows CE\wce400\X86\symbol.all.x86.cab to the device. I looked in the folder and there is no file symbol.all.x86.cab. I contacted Symbol and they said they did not support the emulator. They suggested I upgrade my emulator to a new version.     - Second CTreeCtrl selchange event Hi. I have a custom tree ctrl based on CTreeCtrl. When I select an item, the item is marked, and I get the OnSelchanged event. However, if I click the same, selected item once again, I get no event. I have tried different events, and the only one I get is NM_CLICK, which only provides OnClick(NMHDR* pNMHDR, LRESULT* pResult). I cannot seem to find from this which item was clicked, or if it was some other part of the tree. So, what I need is an event triggered when I click an already selected item.     - PropertySheet bug? The (modal) main window of my application is created with the function PropertySheet(). After choice of the menu entry Start->Today, my property sheet window remains visible and the today screen will not shown. All other PropertySheet-based programs I know, behave in such way.     - Installing Compact Framework SP3 on Emulator I am developing and application that is currently having a problem of running out of memory when closing a window. Looking through the posts I have found that everyone says to upgrade the compact framework to SP3. I have downloaded the latest framework and have a great number of CAB files. The problem comes in when attempting to install SP3 to the emulator. I cannot connect to the emulator through ActiveSync (I have version 3.8). I have tried to run the emulator using virtualswitch for ethernet. It will not start because I do not have a LAN emulator setup on my computer. The LAN emulator needs an ATM network card. I do not have that typ of NIC to the best of my knowledge. Does anyone have any ideas how I can install SP3 on the PPC emulator given this situation? Thanks for any help!!!     - How long does it take you to roam? We're working with a CE.NET 4.2 device using PEAP authentication, TKIP encryption. With two Cisco Access Points, it's taking us between 4 and 6 seconds to roam (be re-authenticated and then get an IP address back). How long SHOULD it take our devices to roam (assuming the APs have fast roaming enabled, it takes a laptop 500 - 700 milliseconds to do the same, etc)?     - Pocket PC 2002 Controls not working Hi, I am new to mobile developing but have used vb for years. I am having problems running the sample applications with the SDK for the pocket PC 2002. I am using embedded visual basic 3 and the emulator as I don't have a pda yet. When I run the apps some run ok but the ones with a control, i.e. filesystem errors with the following message Error the Filesystem1 { ... } could not be created. I know this must be because the filesystem dll etc are either not copying over or are not being registered. Is this supposed to happen automatically ??     - Creating Design Time Control for PPC Hi, I am refering http://www.intelliprog.com/articles/index.html for developing a SDE control, but the example given here is not working on my VS.Net 2003 . When I try to add control from the "/Design" directory into my toolbox, it shows an error like "Some dependencies are missing" . Also I have "CompactFrameworkSDK\v1.0.5000" directory rather than the given "CompactFrameworkSDK\v1.0.3300\" directory. It means that I am running a different .NET CF.     - Retrieving status of ActiveSync Hey I'm currently developing some program that needs to show to the user if ActiveSync is still busy with syncing, as the users of the program need to know when it is OK to get there Pocket PC out of the cradle. It would result in a malfunctioning program should they do this before ActiveSync finishes. Of course I could show a popup that says "Look at the green round icon in your tray.     - First steps for database access in C++ on pocket PC 2003 or later This is driving me crazy. I am attempting to port to a pocket PC some windows MFC code (not managed code) which uses ADO in C++ to read from a database. I am using Visual Studio 2005 Beta 2. I have read and read and searched and searched and am still no closer to get anything actually working. My app current just does a #import "msado25.tlb" and then whips up ADODB.Connection objects (and related others) to its heart's content. How can I get something roughly the equivalent working on the PC? What object model do I use Is there a DLL I can #import? I'll use another object model if I have to but right now I'm flailing in the dark. Virtually every example I can find is written in C# or VB .NET. And the few C++ examples I've seen assume managed code. I've never written managed code and, my crude attempts to convert this project (a C++ DLL) into a managed one don't work very well.     - Preventing device from turning off I have a voice recording application. If a person records to it for longer than the interval set in "turn off device if not used for", then the device turns off in the middle of their recording, which the users find annoying. Is there a way for me to prevent the device from powering off?     - combo box auto selection When using combo boxes in drop-down mode, Windows is changing the selected values. Example, I have a combo box with 10, 20, and 30 in the drop down. Using the popup key pad I enter "2" in the combo box edit field. Everything is OK, I can change to other fields in the dialog and if I read the text from the combo box window I get "2".     - SDIO Host Controller Hi all, Does the SDIO Host controller driver that is implemented in Windows CE 5.0 onwards (and all Operating Systems derived from it) support all methods of data transfer from SDIO cards (SPI, 1-bit, 4-bit) or does it only support the 1-bit and 4-bit transfer modes?     - Strange combo-box behaviour on PPC 2003 (eVB 3.0 application) I have a eVB 3.0 application which runs perfectly on PPC 2002 (eg. iPaq 4150), but when I run the same under PPC 2003 (eg. Dell Axim X50) I get very strange behaviour on drop down combo-boxes. ie. On first click, all items appear on combo-box, then on subsequent clicks items have disappeared! I am using the latest runtimes (I think). After this, I wrote a small test program with just a single combo and this also showed same strange behaviour, so I am quite sure it is just this control.     - Failed to install SdkCerts.cpf on PPC 2005 Hi, As PPC 2005 SDK doc suggests, I am trying to install SdkCerts.cpf on the device so it will accept my code signed with the "TEST ONLY" certificate during the development. I am copying SdkCerts.cpf to the device and then invoke it there using Explorer. On some PPC 2005 devices it works OK, but on some it generates a system notification error (in the Inbox): "Change of device settings unsuccessful" "Installation of SdkCerts.cpf was unsuccessful. The program or setting cannot be installed because it does not have sufficient system permissions". Does anybody know what permissions it does not have and whether I can enable this permission on the device using DMProcessConfigXML (for development purposes only)? Hey all, I am trying to set up our SQL Server and implement RDA for use with mobile devices, which requires IIS, SQL Server, and SQL Server CE all to work together. One of the steps needed is to install the SQL Server CE Server Tools onto the SQL Server box. However, acording to Miscrosoft (http://www.microsoft.com/sql/ce/downloads/sp3.mspx) I need to install a patch for these tools if the SQL Server has been updated. Our SQL Server 2000 box is updated to Service Pack 4. Well, when I attempt to install either the full install of SQL CE 2.0 (http://www.microsoft.com/sql/ce/downloads/ce20.asp) or the patch via the link above, I am getting the following error: SQL Server CE Server Tools is compatible only with SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 1 and higher. When you install SQL Server CE Server Tools on a computer running both IIS and SQL Server 2000, ensure the installer for SQL Server CE Server Tools corresponds to the version of SQL Server 2000. Everytime a Pocket PC connects to my desktop app I want to check whether a newer version is present on the desktop, available to be instaleld on the Pocket PC. I'm using the OpenNetCF framework but searching it and other websites it appears that there's no version number for CF files like there are for WinForms files.     - Getting data over to SQL Server CE What is the simplest, most straight forward....dare I say easiest....method of copying a table from a SQL Server 2000 Enterprise server over to SQL Server CE 2.0 on a PDA? I have seen articles and documents on both RDA and Replication, but I just don't get it. RDA I have to set up SQLCE on the IIS somehow, but is this on a webserver or does IIS need to be on the SQL Server? And just how do I install it wherever it needs to go? How do you configure it?...confusing!!! And most articles (including the MSDN Library) just say you need to do it, not how. And Replication? I swear it's like reading Japanese stereo instructions. I just want to copy a single table from SQL Server 200 to my SQL CE on the PDA. It can't be this hard.....can it? If I must use one of the two methods (Replication or RDA) could someone give me or point me to a clear and concise set of instructions that include precisely what it is I need to do to make it work....that are preferably in plain english?
