I have a 7MB Access DB, with one table and two indexes. I am attempting to
copy it to my iPaq, but at about 2.7MB, the iPaq hangs, bringing the
copying/conversion process to a dead stop. I've looked at the data,
hard-booted the iPaq, done everything I can think of, but cannot find a cause
or solution. The table has about 33,000 rows, and 7 columns (3 text and 4
integer). The text columns don't exceeed 64 characters. Has anybody out there
had a similar problem? Any advice? The funny thing is, this used to copy
over. No longer now, though, and I can't understand what changed. Thanks in
advance for any help/ideas!

Is the table indexed on a text field? In which case this is a known issue
within the CEDB database engine. What version of Pocket PC is your device
running? 2000,2002,2003?
I belive this issue may have been fixed in PPC 2003

Peter -

Thank you for your reply. Yes, the table is indexed on a text field. Is
there any work-around (other than dropping the index, which I have not tried
as of this writing, but I will). My concern is that dropping the index will
degrade performance to an unacceptable level. Any details on this issue in
the knowledge base?

Again, thanks for your reply. I really do appreciate you taking the time.

All best,

Bob

Peter -

Thank you very much for your kind reply. Yes, the table is indexed on a text
field. I dropped the index and the file copied over fine, so that was it. Is
there any work-around for this, other than dropping the index? My concern is
that dropping the index will degrade performance to an unacceptable level.
Are there any details about this this issue in the MS knowledge base?

Again, thanks for your reply and your suggested solution. I really do
appreciate you taking the time to respond to my post.

All best,

Bob
