Hi Ian,
I don't know if this will be any help to you but I have a contact within O2 that may be useful to you. I was told at the world 3GSM conference that Lars Christian Weisswang was the person to talk to in O2 about the XDA II programming and subsequent access to API's. I would suggest that you contact him and see what he says. Linda Reid gave me his details at the conference.
I would recommend aiming the pitch at O2 in terms of it is their phone and your company are going to be introducing more data transfer across their network if you can develop software that can access the camera api's on the HTC XDA II... You can contact me to get his no if you are interested. My e-mail is s.blow@ip-ms.co.uk I'll send you the no there. (I won't post it here... He may get hundreds of calls otherwise :S )
I'm also trying to get hold of the API for a program that i am developing for my final dissertation... so I may have fun and games with it! (There must be a way round this problem. If I come up with a solution I will let you know
