    - Windows Mobile 5.0 SDK install error I have tried to install the Windows Mobile 5.0 and 6.0 SDK, and it gives me an error: "The cabinet file 'sdkfiles.cab' required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used. This could indicate a network error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package" I have tried everything I can think of. Any help would be appreciated.     - CFileDialog and GetOpen(Save)FileName I have an MFC based application in which I wanted to replace CFileDialog invocations by calls to GetOpenFileName or GetSaveFileName. When I test on emulators (PPC2003 on eVC4 and WinMobile 6 on Vis Studio 2005) everything works fine, but on devices things are not as they should. When I use GetOpenFileName I get a file dialog, but I get an extra title bar. This results in the file dialog information being shifted down so that the Open and Cancel buttons are partially hidden by soft keyboard. By extra title bar I mean that there is dialog title on the task bar, but also there is another dialog title in a blue band just below taskbar. So far I have not found any way to get rid of it.     - Disabling the homekey Hi does anybody know how to disable the homekey on smartphone? I'm using vs 2005 and smartphone 2003 and WM5.0. I have tried capturing the key using RegisterHotKey (as suggested by people to solve this problem) which captures the other soft keys just fine. However for the home key it appears to miss the keydown key press so that home key continues to go to the home screen. I have seen comment about using GX.DLL but I cannot find an example... has anybody any examples?     - Control Panel Applet title bar Hi, All Control Panel setting windows have same layout: - Title is "Settings" - Name of applet is written under it in color matching theme. - A line is drawn. - The application (Dialog) is not displayed under running applications (Start > Settings > tab System > Memory > Running Programs). Questions: 1. Is there some reusable layout available to create control panel dialogs? (I am simply calling DialogBox() function). 2. The color of (sub) title, which color does it match? Is it a system color or theme color? How do I get this color? GetSysColor or send message to today screen (HWND == NULL) ? 3. How do I keep dialog bar title "Settings" from being displayed under Running Programs? Parent window should be invisible? Should it be settings window? If so, how do I find that window?     - Newbie help: "Already installed" window on Intermec CN2B Pocket PC Hi all, I'm developing an application in .NET 2005 for the Intermec CN2B Pocket PC, but during a cold boot the installation hangs due to an "already installed" window. I'd like to avoid this request and automatically reinstall my CAB files. There is any way to do that? I put the CAB files in the "\flash file store\persistent copy\cabfiles" directory.     - Issue with ceappmgr.exe Hi I create dynamically an .inf file, build the concerning cab, embed that cab in the resource of a dynamically compiled Setup.exe. When running the setup .exe it writes the ceappmgr.exe inf file, extracts the cab and runs ceappmgr.exe to install the cab. So far so good, this works fine as long as I extract the cab and write the inf file into a subfolder of Active Sync as is the 'best practice' . But if I extract the cab to another directory, invoking ceappmagr.exe throws an error: "Cannot install application because of an error in the setup file".     - WZCQueryInterface not returning results for INTF_PREFLIST On newer WM5 devices and all WM6 devices (that I could tell), calling: DWORD dwStatus = WZCQueryInterface(NULL, INTF_PREFLIST, &Intf, &dwOutFlags); returns an ERROR_SUCCESS but the dwOutFlags are always 0 and no data is returned. Setting the preferred list seems to always succeed but it has the effect of clobbering all of the profiles since you can't get the original list prior. Is there a solution to this?     - ICONBAR icon color Hi, I'm having some difficulty with creating toast notifications. I would like a toast with left soft key having default Notification/Hide and right soft key "Dismiss".     - How to determine if volume window is active? Can anyone help me out with this problem? I need a way to detect if the Volume window is active in a native C++ app on a PPC, either WM5 or WM6. Some devices activate the volume window by pressing an up or down key on the device. Other devices don't have a key assigned to volume but you activate the Volume window by tapping on the speaker icon in the task bar. I have a timer going so every interval I check the current foreground window. If it's not my app, I want to do one thing if it's the volume window, something else if it's anything else. Problem is I don't know how to distinguish the volume window from any other window. Can anyone help? Some of the things I've tried so far: Checked window text of the foreground window: it's empty (""), I was expecting/hoping for "Volume" Checked if foreground window is same as task bar. Task bar hwnd is determined by ::FindWindow(L"HHTaskBar", NULL): Foreground window is NOT the task bar Checked if foreground window is a child of task bar hwnd: Foreground window is NOT a child of the task bar (::IsChild(hWndTaskBar, hWndForeground) is FALSE) Is this a good way to check or should I use a different method to determine if the volume window is active?     - VS2005 Remote Tools Stopped Working Recently my VS2005 remote tools stopped working -- Remote Registry Editor, Remote Process Viewer, VS2005's VC++ deploy & remote debug, and so on. When these tools try to connect to the device, the connection attempt eventually just times out. If I open the Connectivity Manager Configuration window and try to test the connection, I get the message "The data necessary to complete this operation is not yet available". Oddly, the Transport and Startup Server config buttons are both clickable, but don't open any dialogs. I can't be certain, but all of this seems to have started about the same time that I installed MS Project 2007, and then followed up with some Windows and Office updates. Has anyone had anything similar to this happen to them? Incidentally, I also have EVC4 installed; the two have been peacefully coexisting for over a year now.     - VS2005 DataSet problem Hi. I am building a Pocket PC app to test various things. In VS2005, I have a DataSet and in Server Explorer I have opened a Data Connection to a database (.sdf) on the device. Then I drop tables on the DataSet. This works OK for all tables except one, where I get a message: Failed to merge object(s). An item with the same key has already been added. This particular table has a primary key consisting of 3 short integers. As far as I can see, there is nothing wrong with this table as such. I can drop all the other tables onto the DataSet designer, only this one cannot coexist with any of the other ones.     - Debugging Windows Mobile process in Visual Studio Hi, I installed Visual Studio 2005 and I want to run an ARM executable on Windows Mobile emulator, attach debugger to the process, set breakpoint at an API function and when the breakpoint is hit, save memory dump. I'm familiar with OllyDbg and I don't understand why simple things make so much trouble in VS. I start the process in emulator and attach debugger to it, then I can view memory at given address, but I can't dump a block of memory to a file since Save Dump As command in Debug menu is disabled. I can't set breakpoints on API functions either. I choose Breakpoint at Function and enter function name (such as CreateFile), but it says 'The breakpoint will not currently be hit. No executable code is currently loaded at this location'. I read somewhere that I first need to load symbols for modules loaded by the process. I found some pdb files in Visual Studio directory, but I can't figure out how they match modules loaded by the process (for example, which pdb file should be loaded for coredll.dll).     - How to debug ActiveSync service providers? I've been trying debugging the StockPor example under Visudio Studio 2005, but it seems hard, if not impossible. First of all, I can't find a proper .exe module to load the DLLs (both desktop and device). Secondly, the DLL on the device side is always locked once the emulator is connected. The StockPor MSDN article did not mention how to debug it, but given the difficulty I experienced, I figure there has to be another article discussing how to debug ActiveSync service providers. Hi everyone,

I am about to attempt to code some software for WM6 that will
block call that I don't want. Does anyone know of any code
sample site where I can get a start on this? I would like to use
EVC++ to do this, but I can use visual studio 2005 too.

I am really not even sure where to start, but I am about to try it
anyway.
