Windows CE is an operating system. In version 4.x of the operating system it
was officially called Windows CE.NET 4.x. In the latest release (Windows CE
5.0) the .NET extension is dropped. To create an operating system image you
need Platform Builder which is not a part of Visual Studio. However, you can
create managed applications for Windows CE devices (including Smartphones
and PocketPC's) in either C# or Visual Basic.NET and the .NET Compact
Framework. You will need Visual Studio.NET 2003 professional or better to do
so.
