    - Installation with DPI-Specific Resources Hi! I'm developing an application which I want to be DPI aware. So, I have 2 DLL files with DPI specific resources (for 96 and 192 DPI). I followed instructions on http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms838224.aspx and I have 2 problems: 1) On my VGA device (PPC2003SE) and in the emulator with VGA image (WM6), DPI returned by the following code sequence is always 96: HDC hdcScreen = ::GetDC(NULL); INT nSystemDPI = GetDeviceCaps(hdcScreen, LOGPIXELSX); ::ReleaseDC(NULL, hdcScreen); How to detect the DPI in setup.dll used during the installation process? 2) On WM6 emulator, the following rows from the .inf file are not working: [AddRegSection] HKLM,Software\Microsoft\SetupDPI,%InstallDir%\Res_096.DLL,65537,0 HKLM,Software\Microsoft\SetupDPI,%InstallDir%\Res_192.DLL,65537,0 What I read from the registry is exactly %InstallDir%\Res_096.DLL, meaning that the %InstallDir% is not substituted with the installation path.     - Front camera access problem in DirectShow? Hello, My Samsung pda phone has got two cameras. Using the sample code 'CECamera and 'Camera Capture' from windows mobile sdk, I'm able to access only the rear camera. When I listed the devices on the phone using FindFirstDevice and looping through FindNextDevice, I could find only one 'CAM1' listed. This CAM1 is the rear camera. I have to use the front camera.     - Waking up a Pocket PC from a complete shutdown I have a HP iPAQ which shut itself down if the battery temperature exceeds certain level. Is there any way (Programmatic or manual) to start it up again? I have already tried setting up Alarm and CeAppRunAtTime API and they doesn't seem to work as it is a complete shutdown.     - Accessing mobile device's file system Microsoft, I am a .NET developer working on an inventory management system for a client. They use various Windows Mobile 5 barcode scanners, which I am developing on. I am currently storing the SQL CE database in the My Documents folder. How am I able to access this database (or any other file) directly from a Windows Forms program? Right now I am relying on ActiveSync but would like to accomplish this directly to eliminate the sync issues I am having. The mobile device's name is "Unitech Scanner".     - Creating, debuging CSP files for provisioning and wireless Hello, I am trying to create a setup process for 150 HP iPAQ 214s. I have created several CAB files (MakeCab .\_setup.xml .\wireless.cab) that are based on lots of the fragment examples in the MSDN. However when applied to the device via SD Card, they ask for authorization then install successfully but do not make any changes, even after a soft reset.     - DeleteMenu Hi, I have developed an pp for WM6 in C++. We build our menus dynamically and so store the handles when we call CreatePopMenu so we can reuse them. When i come to delete a menu item (including the submenus) should i call Closehandle() on the handles to the submenus we have stored away BEFORE calling DeleteMenu or AFTER.     - Problem deploying to WM6 device using VS 2008 Help! Please. I am trying to convert a PPC 2003 app to WM5 and WM6. Well, actually I started from scratch and created a WM6 project with one form and one button just to get started. In the PPC 2003 project, I can deploy to a PPC 2003 iPaq with no problem. But with my WM6 project when I try to deploy to the device (a T-Mobile Dash running WM 6.0 Standard) I get this error: Error 1 The device security configuration disallowed the connection. Ensure that you have the appropriate certificates on your device for development. Review your SDK documentation for proper security settings for connecting to this device. Device Connectivity Component The deploy list offers only one device, Windows Mobile 6 Professional Device. I don't know what a Professional Device is or if that is different from a WM 6 Standard device, but that was all that was offered ohter than emulators. I can deploy to the emulator, by the way. I tried a couple things (Authenticode signing and Provisioning the certificate to the device) but nothing so far has helped. This is my first time trying to develop a WM6 app and without anyone to help, I am floundering. The device is a T-Mobile Dash running WM 6 Standard. So any help would be appreciated.     - Password caching We use a product called "OWA for PDA" by Lee Derbyshire. If you haven't tried it, i strongly recommend the product (particularly for Ex2k7 folks.) The application is essentially an OMA replacement. It optimizes OWA for PDA and mobile phone screens. http://www.leederbyshire.com/ In any event, my problem is this: I've been using it for a while, until recently when it started going directly to a page that says "you are not authorized to use this page." and "you do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you have suppled." It appears that mobile IE is caching my old credentials somewhere. I say this because i also have MINIMO and Opera Mini installed on my device, and they connect no problem. That's also why i doubt this has anything to do with the application itself. Even using IE on my desktop i can access the page without issue. It's just IE mobile that's stuck. I've tried deleting all the temporary internet files on the device, as well as cookies etc. I've also deleted the bookmark and entered the address manually. The only thing i haven't tried is a hard reset, and i'm not going to do that since it would wipe out my phone. Are there files on the phone i can manually delete that may contain that information? I managed to hide the main menu when there is no toolBar inside it however I don=92t know how to hide it with toolBar. Does anybody have idea haw to solve that problem.     - File handle changes Hi, I am working on samsung blackjack || on windows mobile 6. I have patched CreateFile ,ReadFile ,WriteFile and GetFileInformationByHandle file system calls. If i call CreateFile form some app and call readfile subsequently on the handle obtained , it looks like the handle value is changed somehow before it reaches ReadFile. So my question is does anybody know how the file handles are mapped between functions calls of CreateFile and the rest of the functions i listed above(readfile,writefile...).     - Having both Internet and VPN connection active In my Pocket PC I have a VPN setup and I connect to internet using a 3G SIM Card (HSDPA). The problem is when VPN is connected, if I access a internet page VPN automatically disconnects. Is there a way to keep the VPN connection active all the time?     - OnInitMenuPopup problem Hi, i'm developing an app for WM6 Prof using VS2005 C++ and MFC. I have a dialog with a CCommandBar, i use m_dlgCommandBar.InsertMenuBar(IDM_MAINMENU) to insert a menu. Then in the OnInitMenuPopup handler of my dialog i want to check if this menu that i inserted on the CommandBar is hit if so i rebuild the menu, if its not ie its a sub menu i just return so i have the following bit code if (popupMenu->m_hMenu != m_dlgCommandBar.GetMenuBar()) return; However the function keeps returning because the m_hMenu variable does not seem to be equal to the m_dlgCommandBar.GetMenuBar() when i press this menu.     - Load NDIS51 IM Driver on VerizonWireless XV6700 PDA at Boot Time Hi, In the VS2005/WM5SDKPPC IDE, I try to use the WM5SDKPPC privileged SDKSamplePrivDeveloper certificate to load my NDIS51 IM driver (DLL) on the VierzonWireless XV6700 PDA at its boot time. Last week I install SdkCerts.cab on the XV6700 PDA. But I discovered that this certificate is not in the XV6700 PDA certificate store. I notice that the \Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\SmartDevices\SDK\ SDK\Tools folder has three SDKSamplePrivDeveloper certificate files in it as below: SDKSamplePrivDeveloper.cer SDKSamplePrivDeveloper.pvk SDKSamplePrivDeveloper.pfx According to the "sign code" procedures mentioned in the http://www.codeproject.com/KB/mobile/signcode.aspx web page, the cer and pvk files are created by the makecert.exe tool; the pfx file is created by the pvk2pfx.exe tool. These two tools are in the VS2005 package. The required ten steps of using the the SDKSamplePrivDeveloper certificate for loading our driver are: 1. Use the openssl.exe tool to find out the ash1 and base64 values of the SDKSamplePrivDeveloper certificate. The openssl.exe tool is archived under \ tommyclee\0711085\cvs\identiprise\ThirdParty\openssl-0.9.8g\out32dll folder. 2. Create a _setup.xml file with the ash1 and based64 values of the SDKSamplePrivDeveloper certificate. 3. Use the makecab.exe tool to create the SDKSamplePrivDeveloper.cab file. The makecab.exe tool is archived under the \Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\SmartDevices\SDK\SDKTools folder. 4. Hardware reset the XV6700 PDA. 5. Connect XV6700 PDA to the SecuredMobile network to make sure that its WiFi adapter functions. 6. With the ActiveSync connection, install SDKSamplePrivDeveloper.cab on the XV6700 PDA. 7. In the VS2005/WM5SDKPPC IDE, select SDKSamplePrivDeveloper.pfx as the Project->Properties->Authenticaode Signing->->Certificate value of the VS2005/WM5SDKPPC driver. 8. Rebuild driver and deploy it to the \Windows folder of the XV6700 PDA. 9. Use VS2005 Remote Registry Editor tool to create the [...\Comm\cttunim] and [...\Drivers\BuiltIn] Registry settings. Those settings are: 10 . Reboot the XV6700. The Registry settings are: [.....Comm\cttunim] group=ndis imagepath=cttunim.dll nodevicecreate=1 .... [.....Driver\BuiltIn\ctt] prefix=CTT dll=cttunim.dll iclass={A32942B7-920C-486b-B0E6-92A702A99B35} index=1 order=5 Doing this work, I did not experience any problems at all.     - turning on phone I have to deny access to users to the Wireless Manager, and we do it with a full screen program that prevents access to the Start menu and Today screen. The problem is that when the battery is almost empty the system turns the phone off, and users can't turn it on again when the battery is charged, because they can't access Wireless Manager. Also, we've seen that if you try to dial a number with the phone turned off, the system shows up a balloon asking if you want to switch it on, but it can't be seen because of our full screen program. I am developing on a Windows Mobile 6 phone. I am launching a third party app using System.Diagnostics.Process. After the third-party app launches, sometimes VS freezes and the phone hangs. I am not manipulating the third-party app at all. It just writes something to a location and I have a loop that reads once the content is updated. Then I kill the app. When everything freezes, I have to kill the VS project process on the desktop and remove the batteries and restart the phone. Could someone please tell me what could be going on? Offset of the test_function() in RAM is 0x2047C. So, all is good. I run application, then got first messagebox and second after 5 seconds. I put this application to SD-card and trying to run it from card directly. App still working fine: message, 5 seconds pause, message. But when i take SD-card and insert it back during the 5 seconds pause, my application crashed on test_function(). Crash report tells me, that memory with test_function() is broken by someone. If i add code for reading memory region from 0x11000 to 0x2047C before the first MessageBox, then application working fine without eny errors! Also it working fine from internal device memory. It's very strange.. May be some troubles with ARM code cache and external card reading? I tested my program on following devices: gsmart mw998 (PXA270), iPAQ 3850 (StrongARM 1110). Thanks!     - C# app lockup - debugging / tools I have a C# app that's locking up the handheld, forcing a reboot. It works fine for hours, then suddenly locks up. If I run the app in the debugger, when the lockup on the handheld occurs, if I "break all", the debugger locks up as well, until I physically disconnect the device from the host. The handheld is running Windows Mobile 5.2, and I'm debugging via VS 2008 and AS 4.5. The lockup occurs when interacting with a control I wrote that allows the user to drag a foreground image over a background image. It responds to mouse up/down and paint events, and invokes an application-specified callback function passing the X,Y position of the foreground image. I suspect there is some sort of resource leakage going on, but I'm not familiar with tools or techniques for detecting such things on a handheld. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
