    - Windows mobile 2003 JavaScript OnKeyPress Hello, I want to determine which key is pressed in a editbox on a page hosted by our own webserver. However on Windows Mobile 2003 the onKeypress event is not triggered. Does anybody know why this code isn't working properly? If I replace the onKeypress by onFocus the JavaScript is executed and an alert is shown. Kind regards, H.     - Emulator gives Exception 0xc0000005 I am using Visual Studio 2003. I have created a dll using C#, and have a small application also using C# that I created for the pocket PC. I am using the PPC2003 emulator. The application is compiled for the PPC2003 emulator, and the dll for WinCE. While debugging, I get seemingly repeatable exceptions in several parts of my code. But when I modify my code, the exception starts occurring in different sections of my code. I have set up the debugger to halt on all exceptions, but this exception is never caught. I have also had the same behavior using the WinCE emulator, and PPC2002 emulator. Has anyone seen this kind of behavior? Is there a solution?     - load .ico file an put in CImageList I need to load some .ico files (not stored as resources) and put them into a CImageList so i can display them in a CListView. I have managed to load the icons from EXE files and system icons but cannot get the icons from .ico files. Ive been using SHGetFileInfo to get the icon handle but it doesnt seem to work.     - Using bluetooth virtual serial port Hi, I'm trying to establish with a IPAQ PDA a serial port with a Bluetooth device with address 00803719C4BB. If I use COM8 like a normal serial port I establish the communication ok, it's works, but before it opens a bluetooth window where I choose the device. Well I want to establish the comm without this selection Window, directly, and I found in MSDN the following code, in which the handle "h" of RegisterDevice returns a error number 2.     - HP photosmart SDK program problem I'm trying to write a program for my iPaq hx4700 with a photosmart mobile camera using the SDK available from HP and I am having mixed results. I can use the functions to take a snapshot and save it as a jpg but the functions to get the buffer data then translate it from jpg to bmp are failing. Any help would be appreciated. bDecode is a global variable because I was picking to bools from the function (ugly but temporary).     - Bootloader on iPaq h4150 I am looking for the key combination on the h4150 to put the device into the parrot loader. I have been able to get there using the EnterBootLoader.exe program, but it seems there should be another way that is not dependent on having an operating system loaded. I am looking into putting another OS on the iPaq, so if I hose the ROM I would like to know how to get back to the boot loader so I can restore the ROM from my SD backup. I have tried all of the key combinations I could find for other iPaqs, but none seem to work. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I am using the Pocket PC 2002 connection manager.The problem I am having is that when I establish a data call an interactive box pops up asking to hide or end the connection. This freezes up and won't allow me to select either option.     - Unable to implement proactive check VS2003 / PPC 2003 When I searched for methods of checking whether SQL Server CE is installed, I found reasonable suggestions. However, when I try to run any code at all (not attempting to instantiate any data objects) while SQL Server is not installed in my emulator and my project references the SqlServerCe namespace, my app doesn't even launch. I know when I attempt to run a .net executable on a desktop that contains missing references, I get an error message at startup. Is there anything that can be done in this case? If I run the following code from VS2003 to a PPC 2003 emulator: static void Main() { MessageBox.Show("hi"); Application.Run(new MainForm()); } The first time it runs I only see the message box. Subsequent runs of the app on the emulator show the form. It seems like this is what is happening: - I click the 'X' on the message box, but the app is still running. - The form opens but I don't see it. - When I launch the app subsequent times, the form that already exists is merely becoming visible. - When I close the app it doesn't really close. In a separate module, I have 6,000 lines of repetitive coding covering graphics declarations. Depending on the call made to the 6 similar functions in this module, approximately 30 polygons (sets of points) and 25 regions (â??Unionedâ?? rectangles) are stuffed in to globally declared variables for use in the main program. (mostly â??isVisibleâ?? hit testing for a graphical interface linked to a database) My problem is that Iâ??ve snuck up on what seems to be a memory limitation. If I increase very slightly, the number of variables declared, I get the following error as I hit F5 to debug: â??The remote connection to the device has been lost. Please verify the device connection and restart debugging.â?? If I slightly contract the number of declarations, the problem goes away, and all is fine. So, any thoughts on how to get past this?     - Disabling frame context menu for HTMLControl I'm currently using the HTMLControl in a PocketPC 2002/2003 application and I'm having trouble loading pages that contain a frameset. Once I tell the HTML control to navigate to a page that defines a frameset it seems that the control adds support for a context menu that allows a user to navigate to a specific frame. I don't want this context menu to appear so I tried trapping the NM_CONTEXTMENU notification but I no longer seem to receive notification messages from the Webview window at all once a frameset page is loaded. I believe that what's happening is that the Webview window is spawning 1 new version of itself for every frame and the messages from those spawned windows go to their immediate parent (the previous Webview control) and no further up the chain.     - Send data to/from your PPC for free over cell phone Just wanted to add to a previous post.... Old post: \\ I have a "soft" modem (DLL) that can run in any PPC application process \\ space and uses the audio connector of the PPC. When any type of cell phone \\ with a head set jack is connected to the PPC's audio jack you can send and \\ receive data. It is slow but it can send and receive application data, say \\ GPS location info in about 2 seconds. It is pretty cool works over any cell \\ phone carrier's network without them knowing it. Of course you need the \\ same type of modem running on another PPC/cell phone or PC with a land line \\ to have something to talk to on the other end of this pipe. and to add, it is faster than SMS, it will also work cell phone to cell phone, or cell phone to land line phone, between a CDMA carrier and GSM carrier. The modem I am talking about is independant of the type of phone or carrier, it will work with any combination, you just need to have this modem on both ends of the phone call. Also their is a much larger network coverage for the voice call than the "data ready" coverage, and you can roam from one network to the next with out effecting the modem, it will still work with out having to restart the connection, because it is using the voice channel.     - Sendmessage Hi all, I'm trying to control Media Player 10 Mobile from an external app. For now I'll be posting window messages in order to control the more basic features - play stop etc. However, I'm having trouble finding these messages using Remote Spy (I can't find any examples using the control - further I'm not sure it even can be used via .NETCF). I found a .NETCF class to control WMP9 written by Peter Foot which has calls to SendMessage preprepared. So for example to Shuffle, you call: Win32Window.SendMessage(hwnd, 32973, IntPtr.Zero, 0) // == 0x08CD Using Remote Spy and WMP9, I see the following when manually hitting shuffle (message, WPARAM, LPARAM): 08CD WIN_USER+205, 0, 0 and then 0111 WM_COMMAND, 9C59, 12CE10 Using Remote Spy and WMP10, I see: 0111 WM_COMMAND, 271C, 2D4AB0 Does this mean that there is no SendMessage equivalent for WMP10? Or can I deduce it from the above information? Or can I skip the WIN_USER+XXX message altogether and just send a WM_COMMAND with the correct WPARAMs and LPARAMs? Help please!     - Serialize a dataset without using a XML Hello: Anyone knows how can I serialize a dataset, without using an XML, in a PDA to send it to PC? I want to reduce the parsing time I waste passing the dataset structure to a XML (and parsing it to recreate a dataset).     - Which development tool? C# or C++? I am sure that this question has been asked a million times, but here it is again. I am getting back into PocketPC development after a one year hiatus. I have used many different tools and languages over the past 15 years so I am not concerned about learning a new language. I am debating on switching completely over to C# or sticking with C++. It is very easy to create programs using C# and I love the syntax, but the applications are slow. I have not seen any major applications written in .net and I can only imagine how a program such as Pocket Informant would run if it was written in .net! If using C++ is it better to use straight C++, or to use MFC? What framework and language are used in complicated applications? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. I have built a Interface.dll under Win32(WCE ARMV4) Debug processor. Right now I want to test the dll by registering it on PPC 2003 emulator, thus i rebuilt the dll file under Win32(WCE emulator) Debug processor. It was built successfully. But when I try to export the Interface.dll to the PPC2003 emulator through Remote file viewer in EVC4, it say that "The specified resource name cannot be found in the image file.     - TRACE doesn't show any ouput in eVC++ 3.0 x86 emulator Hello everyone, I'm working on my first Pocket PC application, which is incidentally my first realistic win32 application as well (go me!). Currently, I am using eVC++ 3.0 on an AppWizard-generated MFC application (SDI, shared new in case that matters). The problem is, my TRACE calls yield no output whatsoever and so far I am unable to pinpoint the source of the problem. The application is built using the "x86 Debug" configuration, it runs fine in the emulator, the Output window is on at the bottom of the eVC screen and yet no ouput. Is there anything else I should do? As far as I see, there is no tracer.exe for eVC++ to manage AFX settings. Is there something else I'm missing?     - Where to place application files Newbie. I need to check for the existence of an update file. I would normally put the file in the application's directory, but then (it seems) I have to hard code the location of the file since the CF doesn't include Application.StartupPath or Assembly.Location. If I simply put the file at the root, then I don't need to know anything but the file's name.     - OS Mismatch error I built the debug exe for my Handheld PC and successfully downloaded the build after chaging the Platform manager setting to use TCP/IP as the transport. For some reason,selecting ActiveSync did not work. If I run the exe directly on the device, it runs fine. However If I run in the debugger, I get an error of OS mismatch. I am targeting Win32 CE ARM. My EVC++ app build correctly, however gives the foll. error when trying to automatically download the debug exe to the device: The Windows CE Services connection server has failed. I have a Bluetooth device which connects to H2210, H1940, H5550 and
others via SPP.
I took the same BT device, paried and connected it to the H4150. I
found that for some reason the BT connection cycles through
disconnect/connect, connecting for about 20 seconds and then
disconnecting for about 10 seconds.
Does anyone know what can be causing this ?

I'm not sure how you are actually making the connections but, I found that
with my devices I was using, if I made the connections but did not actually
open the COM port, I would get what you described. When I actually open the
COM port, then it would stay connected as long as the COM port was open.

What type of BT device are you using? Can you verify options in the
firmware to be sure it is configured correctly.
