    - Unable to create new subscription Hi, all, I'm using SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition and Pocket PC Phone emulator, anonymous access. My program has been working (replicating/synchronizing) perfectly one day and next day would just crash. I've been at it for this past two months and the same thing happens: it will work just fine...next day it gives me the "request to IIS" error. I've given Firewall exceptions to the SQL Server, SQL Server Agent and browser instances. I've configured the SQL Server Surface Area. Done the read/write permissions for IUSR_* account for the virtual web folder and snapshot folders. What else haven't I done? Ah, yes... haven't slept at all! Right now, everything I do gives me this error: "A request to send data to computer running IIS has failed..." which means I can't do anything and I need to make a presentation of this thing sometime next week. (And, oh, yes..it was working perfectly last night when I turned off my computer!) Should I just tell clients not to use Pocket PCs for field work to enter data? I know I'd get this done sometime today... and I know it's going to randomly crash on me again. And I know I won't be able to sleep again tonight...Sigh.     - Beginning PocketPC Database Development Hi, I'm looking for resources to get me started developing a database app for the Pocket PC (Windows Mobile 5.0) I would be developing using the CF 2.0, probably utilising a SQL Server DB as the backend. But that's about as far as I've got! Before being hit with a myriad of options, for example: SQL Server CE on the Pocket PC - how does this sync with the main SQL Server DB running on the server? Can I use SQL Express? What are the data access components available to me? Is ADO still a valid technology in this environment? What about ActiveSync? How do you get it to synchronise data with your database? As you can see, I'm very much a novice to this environment, and would really appreciate a few pointers to get me started.     - SHLoadImageFile problems. Alternative? I have a routine that loads images onto the screen of my Pocket PC. Some files have been converted to bitmaps so that they could be embedded into the resource file, but most of these are JPEG files that reside on the disk in a special folder. For the embedded bitmaps, I use LoadBitmap with the MAKEINTRESOURCE macro. For JPEG files on disk, SHLoadImageFile loads images from paths stored in a CStringList. After images are loaded, StretchBlt is used to paint the images to the screen. Both techniques succeed and produce no errors; however, I am finding that calls to SHLoadImageFile consistently destroys other components. First, I had a CRect object that stored the GetWindowRect results from the same procedure that I called SHLoadImageFile. The dimensions of CRect went from defined endpoints to random numbers after the call to SHLoadImageFile. I solved this problem by moving my CRect object outside of my image loading class and passing the value into it. Now, after I call the method that includes the SHLoadImageFile, the files in the CStringList are being whipped out - and the CStringList is not even in the same class as the SHLoadImageFile routine. Has anyone else had any problems with SHLoadImageFile? Is there an alternative to loading JPEG images? I am coding with eVC4.     - More Bluetooth anomalies I wonder if any of you experienced BT guys can shed any light on this ... I have given up on the Vodafone v1640 because it doesn't actually work, as I suspected. The BT problems are unique to that machine. I have told them but they are not listening. I have given up on Symbian because the development system doesn't actually work. I have told them but they are not listening. I have laid my hands on a MS stack BT device (a datalogic Jet) which DOES work, however it's configuration utility for BT is strange, even though it's CE5. There doesn't seem to be any way it will let you publish the serial over BT service, even though it works fine with incoming. It appears to use COM5 for both incoming and outgoing serial comms.     - Cameraform using DirectShow or Device API Hi, I'd like to implement the possibility of taking a picture in my mobile phone application. I got it working with the CameraCaptureDialog but this interface is too complicated for the users of the application. I understood that if I want my own interface I need to use DirectShow or use C++ and use the API. I'm not a C++ programmer and I never worked with or used DirectShow.     - How to get character set category of mail body on CrossBow I write a mail reader application to show message to user on CorssBow. And I use PR_BODY_A and PR_BODY_HTML_A property of MAPI to retrieve mail body. My application is running smoothly in the past, however I found it has some problem on newly CrossBow version. MAPI will translate mail body into UTF-8 format automatically in the past. But it donâ??t work now, I has to translate character set by myself, but I don't know how to get the character set of body?     - WM 6 Emulator vs Device Hi, I have created an application for Zooming in Pocket PC using VS 2005 for WM 5.0. It is working fine in the WM5 devices and emultors. The application worked fine in WM 6 professional emulator also. But When I deployed it in WM6 device(device still under testing), it did not work.i.e., it did not zoom.     - MSMQ - post a message from WM5 to PC over WiFi Hi, i tried to send a message from Windows Mobile 5 emulator to my Windows XP Pro machine. But it doesn't work. "The queue does not exist or you do not have sufficient permissions to perform the operation." I can use a local queue on my machine to post a message and pull the same message back out of the local queue. I can do that on emulator to. And i can send a message from another Windows XP Pro machine to my machine. But i just can't send message from the emulator to my machine. Please help!     - Mobile SetUP Does anybody know how to setup a single-Server environment for developing PocketPC using emulator device? I've followed steps in Sql Mobile Book Online and MSDN articles to no avail. I'm trying to use NT Authentication; no login/password; I'm only using my laptop for the entire development so I can demonstrate the result to "higher-ups" before investing in hardware...     - Files lost on empty battery Hi, everytime my CE5.0 device is out of fuel, it loses my app saved in the "Program Files" folder, all files in "My documents" and the SQL-Server Mobile installation.     - ActiveSync 4.5 Behavior It seems as if ActiveSync isn't synchronizing the same as its 3.xx siblings. In previous versions, ActiveSync would sync up files created by the handheld in subdirectories of its \My Documents.     - Disable TaskBar icons Hello, I am developing a program wich will limit user access to pocket pc. This program will run in kiosk mode and will launch other applications (word, calc etc ...). The problème is : When word or calc or other is launched, the taskbar is visible and the user can access to all the configuration of the Pocket PC. I have found a solution with API EnableWindow to disable the TaskBar. But with it, the close button is disable, and the user can't close word or calc ... Then my question is : Is it possible to disable all the TaskBar, excepted the Close button ? I have searched for 3 days (MSDN, google ...) and I haven't found anything ... Help !!!     - form does not display correctly Hi all, I have an application that was originally developed to run under windows mobile 3.0, and later was upgraded to run under the same environment but using the .net cf 2.0. I was able to test the app, and verified that ran well under the emulator environment, and later in my Pocket PC. However, in one occassion I noticed that in one instance, the application did not display the full form, in my Pocket PC, I re-installed, and sof-reseted the device, and that seemed to take care of the problem. Now, there is a customer that describes the same situation, and the problem could not be solved doing the same thing that I did. This is what He describes "My "full VGA" pocketPC displays program main window in a top-left quarter of its display, with overlapping letters, immpossible to read. tab labels lies in the middle of display but seems to be VGA wide. The menu is at the bottom of the screen in VGA size. My HW: Dell Axim x51v; VGA display 480 x 640, ROM ver. A12 My SW: Microsoft Windows Mobile Ver. 5.0 (OS 5.1.195)" Could this be a result of the executable being corrupted. Thanks in advance for any help. Carlos. I mean, for example in order to open Bluetooth device, I need to pass "BAG0:" as file name. What are other supported file names? I found that BAG0: from google posts and sample only but I did not find any other such device file names. I want to know such file names for cell speaker, loud speaker etc. so i can move audio output to the desired device.     - SqlServerCe not automatically installed Hi. I have just started to work with a new Dell Axim 51v. I use VS2005 to build a C# managed app that accesses a SqlCe database. This app was essentially taken unchanged over from a Symbol PPT8800 device developed with VS2003. It seems that SqlServerCe and the QueryAnalyzer program are not installed automatically on the Axim when I deploy my program. This was done when I worked with the PPT8800 and VS2003. Do I have to install the SqlServerCe and the QueryAnalyzer manually? The .NET Compact Framework must be present on the Axim, because I have successfully deployed and run anothher program, that does not access SqlCe data. There are directions on how to install SqlServerCe and the QueryAnalyzer on a device on SQLServerCe Books Online. One question there: My device has Windows mobile 5.0 and Intel PXA270 processor.     - add tabs to system config screens Hi, Many apps in settings screen (control panel applets), have tabs with settings. Is it possible to add tabs to them? I guess this completely depends on how they are implemented, but I'm wondering if there is a standardized interface for them like reg keys with dll's to add tabs or something.     - CeGetFileTime "Access Denied" on Pocket PC 2002, but okay on WM5 I am writing a Pocket PC installer (in Visual Studio 2005) which is working really well in Windows Mobile 5, but when I used the installer to target a Pocket PC 2002 device, RAPI's CeGetFileTime returned 0 (signaling an error) which CeGetLastError says was a code 5 error (Access Denied). I tried waiting in the debugger before letting CeGetFileTime execute, but it didn't change anything. I've been opening, writing, and closing files over the RAPI connection.     - Setup.exe install problem on WM6 device (but CAB install works) i have a (signed) CAB file that installs without any problem or warning on the WM6 Standard emulators (i.e. Smartphone). This CAB file uses the following line in the Platform section of the .inf file: PlatformMax=5.9 which indicates that it should support all devices up to WinCE 5.9 (WM6 is 5.2). indeed it also install fine on WM5 Smartphones. But when I install this CAB file via a desktop Setup.exe file, i get the following error on the desktop: "APPLICATION XXX does not support the connected device type. Application Manager will make the application available for installation when a supported device type is connected". This very same setup.exe file has no problem installing this CAB on a WM5 device or emulator. Since the CAB file is compatible with WM6 Smartphones, why would the setup file refise to install it on the WM6 Smartphone emulator? i can provide the setup file if someone is interested.     - Volume reduction on Incomming call Windows Mobile reduces the volume of any playing sounds on the device when an incomming call arrives, even if the ringtone is set to none. Is there a workaround for this default behaviour. My application needs play a voice alert on incoming calls. This will work as a ringtone and so the normal ringtone is set to none. Solution: i call CeRapiUninit -> CeRapiInit -> CeXXX -> works fine. At Vista, i do the same, but all CeXXX function failed ! CeRapiUninit do nothing !(???). My second problem are, how can i register my sync-dll at WMDC ? ( made with VC6.0 ). I use Windows 2000 in a VMWare environment, i installed Visual Studio .NET 2003, installed the Update Version of VS 2005 and now tried to download the Windows Mobile SDK. All the software involved is legally bought and i have valid product keys for them. As the Windows 2000 installation inside VMWare has no Internet access i downloaded the tool "GenuineCheck.exe" and tried to execute it. It failed with the message (translated from German): Code not available. The code to check the validity could not be loaded. Reason for this could be technical problems or a not supported operating system. Please close this window and try again to execute the check for validity. Or press the button "Back" in your web browser to go back to the page with the download details. Errorcode is 0x80072ee7 I wonder what i can do to download the Windows Mobile SDK. Hello everyone,
I'm trying to figure out the best way to capture audio (mic input) to a
.wav file using a compression audio codec (a voice optimized codec such
as gsm codecs) on Windows Mobile 2005 plateform. What would be the best
way to proceed? The Voice Recorder Control (does not support
compression?)? Low level Waveform audio API? DirectShow?

I am very confused and any hint on where to start would be very appreciated.
