    - eVC4: Does it have a Label? I want to put a label on my main form that I can use to write information on to my Users. In the Dialog resource editor, the closest I can find is a Static Text control followed by an Edit Box control. Is there a way to modify the text information on a Static Text control during program execution? I have tried doing this unsuccessfully before. Currently to draw text onto the form, I get the rectangle of the window, calculate where I want my text displayed, then use DrawText to place my information. This causes some flickering that I would like to avoid by having a label on the form that I can simply edit the text of. What should I do here? Again: Using eMbedded VC, not Visual Studio.     - wait for RAPI.CreateProcess() to complete before continue Hi, currently I am triggering an exe on a PDA to run from a desktop application using RAPI.CreateProcess(). But when this line is executed, it doesnt wait till the process complete before executing the next line. is there a way to wait for this line to be completed before proceeding? or can i place this RAPI.CreateProcess into another Process where i will call the WaitforInputIdle command?     - Icon transparency Hi, I am developing an app for the PPC with cf2.0 and having an issue with icons! When I have a picturebox control and set its image property to that of an icon I have, the designer in VS draws it correctly ie with the transparency allowing the backcolour through. When the app is deployed and run on the device, the icons transparency doesn't work. Can anyone explain what format the icon needs to be in for it to be displayed correctly on the PPC.     - Javascript with Mobile Explorer and DTM_ADDTEXT I am attempting to load dynamic web pages into the HTMLView control using DTM_ADDTEXT. This part works fine. However, any javascript in the page does not get executed (or body onload= doesn't work). I need to have javascript fire when the page loads but I can't figure out how to do it. On our CE.NET software we use IWebBrowser2's Rewrite and that works perfectly. Is there anything similar I can do with Windows Mobile 5?     - Landscape and SipUp problem I'm trying to get an MFC CFormView app to behave in Landscape mode with the SIP showing, and I'm encountering problems. An unexpected scroll-bar is showing up on the left side. It seems like there is excess space under the form.     - Modem Connection Errors Not sure if this is the right newsgroup....please let me know if there is a better one. I'm developing an application for a rugged WM 5.0 PDA that uses a compact flash GPRS modem to connect to the Internet. Our application uses the compact .net framework to communicate to our servers on the Internet. I'm trying to understand a bit more how windows mobile handles the modem connections, specifically the error conditions. We setup a modem connection to Cingular or T-Mobile and the device automatically handles the dialing out, etc. But if the device is in an area with very poor GPRS coverage, after attempting to dial out, a balloon pops up with "The answering modem has disconnected. To check your connection settings and change them if needed, tap Settings." If I enter bogus settings I can generate a other errors, such as "Cannot connect for an unknown reason". Or removing the card and attempting to connect gives "No modem found". I've also seen "No modem at above number" and maybe a couple more that I can't think of. I'd like to understand what these errors actually mean. Are there windows API's that describe them? The problem I'm investigating is that sometimes the modem gets into a state where a soft reset is required before it will connect again. To our app, it appears that the modem is not present. So my first step is trying to better understand these error messages and what conditions them happen in. Thanks in advance for any help.     - Single cab with two versions of the same file I've run into an issue that means I have to have a separate build of one of my application files for WM6. Is it possible, using cabwiz, to create a CAB file that contains both versions of the file and will install the correct one?     - KeyInput issues So I'm writing a game engine and I've been struggling with getting a key input system working that works on all devices properly. Right now I'm using GxOpenInput() to disable key filtering at the start of my app and GxCloseInput() at the end of the app. I capture key input in the message procedure via WM_KEYDOWN and WM_KEYUP messages and then set a member variable based on that. For example: LRESULT TApplication::MsgProc(HWND hWnd, UINT uMsg, WPARAM wParam, LPARAM lParam) { switch(uMsg) { case WM_KEYDOWN: switch (wParam) { case VK_TACTION: m_dwKeyInput |= ACTION; return 0L; } break; case WM_KEYUP: { case VK_TACTION: m_dwKeyInput &= ~ACTION; return 0L; } break; } return DefWindowProc(hWnd, uMsg, wParam, lParam); } That's a very reduced version for brevity but it captures all the important keys - UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, ACTION, SOFT 1 & 2, HOME, BACK, TALK and END. This sytem works very well across all devices BUT there are some exceptions. For instance, on most devices pressing the ENDCALL button will generate a WM_KEYDOWN message and then WM_KEYUP when the button is released. But on some devices (like the Samsung Blackjack) pressing the ENDCALL generates both WM_KEYDOWN and a WM_KEYUP messages one after the other which of course leads to the m_dwKeyInput being set and cleared before it can ever be used in the game loop.     - Detect Cradle I'm writing code in VB.NET and using Windows Mobile 5.0 on a Dell Axim PDA (a PPC). I want to use VB.NET to detect when the PDA is put in the cradle.... So two things: 1) can the PPC VB.NET App itself detect when it has been placed in the cradle?????? 2) can the PPC VB.NET, if it detects being put in the cradle, run another application on the PPC or on the desktop.     - Getting Locale ID Hi, I'm on PPC (ok, Windows Mobile Professional). Under HKLM\nls you can see these two keys: SystemLCID = 1033 DefaultLCID = 1041 The SystemLCID depends on language of OS The DefaultLCID seems to depend on Regional settings. I'm trying to localize my application where the language should depend on OS, just like other built-in apps. I'd expect that GetSystemDefaultLCID would return the SystemLCID and GetUserDefaultLCID would return DefaultLCID. However, it seems both return DefaultLCID, which is dependent on Regional Settings, not language of OS. I could read out the registry key directely, but I am trying to do this properly with APIs. What's the right way to do this? I thought it was GetSystemDefaultLCID(), but that isn't the OS language and that makes my application use a different language than the other apps in the OS.     - MFC handling WM_SETTINGCHANGE for SIP I'm trying to get an MFC program to correctly handle changes in orientation from Portrait to Landscape. The SDK's include a nice Win32 example ... HandleSIP ... that shows how to deal with WM_SETTINGCHANGE and the corresponding Activate, OnSize, etc. I'm wrestling with getting an equivalent program to work with MFC. With VC6 for desktop apps, there is an available handler in the ClassWizard for WM_SETTINGCHANGE that becomes CMainFrame::OnSettingChange. With a TRACE call, I can see this routine is reached, for example, when I change the display settings. However, with evc3, I've tried to do the equivalent, and the function isn't reached.     - GetSystemPowerState I am currently using VB in VS.NET to write an application on a Windows Mobile 5 device. I am trying to get the current power state so I can work out whether the device is in sleep mode or not so that I can then change it to IDLE or indeed wake the device up. However I have been trying to get GetSystemPowerState to work but it seems to only return the integer 87 at all times regardless of what I do. Maybe I am doing something wrong but would someone have a quick example of GetSystemPowerState in VB.NET that works on a Mobile 5 device?     - Dialogs and the amount of memory they need.... have a ppc application written in eVC++. It has about 8 dialogs. If I launch dialog 1 then dialog 2 then dialog 3 then dialog 4 and so on.. the application eventually crashes. BUT If I launch dialog 1 then come out of it (CDialog::OnOK() ) then launch dialog 2 and come out of it, then launch dialog 3 and come out of it etc...all is fine. This causes problems with the sequence in which the user goes through the dialogs, for example in dialog 3 if the user presses cancel then they should go back to dialog 2 etc... I know the problem has to do with each Dialog using a certain amount of memory and eventually the ppc device will run out but could someone please explain what is happening in a little more detail. Then PDA user does his job and send banck the data to server. I have used IP address of sql server to make connection. It is not they can't connect every time. They do connected so any times during their shifts. But sometimes That Idon't know why! They also say that GPRS connection is okay and with strong signals.     - Can I Debug in Release mode? With my eVC4 IDE set to Debug mode, I can run the application. With my eVC4 IDE set to Release mode, I can build the application, but whenever I try to run it outside of the IDE, it simply stops after the OnInitDiag routine. With my eVC4 IDE set to Release mode, if I try to run the application, I get an access violation, but I don't know where it is coming from. I have placed MessageBox calls at various places, and it seems like the Release mode that is executed outside of the IDE dies right after the OnInitDiag, which is the last place I know of to set my MessageBox call.     - Issue regarding the huge input data size inside MP3 DMO frameowrk Hello, I have created a MP3 DMO framework for Wince 5.0 Inside InternalCheckInputType() I checked that WAVEFORMATEX structure of DMO_MEDIA_TYPE is not correct for BitsPerSample. it is coming as 0. If I explicitly gives some appropriate value for BitsPerSample like say 16 then inside InternalProcessInput() I am getting the input buffer size i.e of IMediaBuffer as huge, in my case its 8k. But the data is valid its not junk. I am having a mp3 decoder framework which decodes on frame by frame basis, so I am getting difficulties in passing such huge data at once. Can anyone pl. give me reason of getting incorrect WAVEFORMATEX structure and also the reason of huge input buffer. I checked my framework on Windows Mobile WM5.0 and other Crossbow as well this problem is not encountering over those OS. getting proper BitsPerSample for WAVEFORMATEX and getting the input size as 182 bytes, which means giving the input on frame basis.     - Desktop-Pass-Through internet connection / ActiveSync 4.5 / WM6 Hello all, I am experiencing the following problem with ActiveSync 4.5 / Windows Mobile 6.0: When the device (it's an HTC with WM6) is connected to the Desktop PC through USB, it cannot connect to the internet using Desktop-Pass-Through internet connection (= using the internet connection that is provided by the Desktop PC / Laptop computer). With ActiveSync 4.1 / Windows Mobile 5.0 this always worked without a problem. After trying one million things and searching the internet for a LONG, LONG time, I found a post from Edington Watt from the MS Windows Mobile Platform (Edington, are there ... ??). This post communicated to me that exactly this problem already appeared when ActiveSync was upgraded from ActiveSync 4.1 to ActiveSync 4.2. Together with his post, Edington Watt offered a registry key fix with the following content: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows CE Services] "AllowLSP"=dword:00000000 This seems to solve the problem for ActiveSync 4.2 but unfortunately NOT for ActiveSync 4.5 as I have found out ... This allows for improved compatibility in environments where connections to the internet must be passed through these LSPs (ISA Proxy is one such example). Unfortunately, it appears this change has caused some issues for a small segment of users who have LSPs that interfere with ActiveSync communication. There is a registry key fix which will essentially remove this change. Please download and rename the attached text file with the .txt extension to the .reg extension. In other words, change the file LSPvalue.txt to LSPvalue.reg. Afterwards, please double click on the newly renamed .reg file and click on the "Yes" button. This should resolve your issues. Hi,
I could retrieve most ActiveSync partnership settings from
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\ActiveSync\Partners\{GUID}

But I still have problem to get the settings whether the
Calendar/Email/Contacts/Tasks sync are enabled for the partnership.
I think the subkeys in this registry key have these info... but they are
only GUID, how do I tell which one is which?

Does anyone have a solution?
