I have just set up a loan for a car. When trying to
transfer money to make a payment, the loan does not show
up on the list of accounts in the category list - like
all my other non-loan accounts. However, the associated
asset does. If I select the asset, Money decides the
value of the asset goes up by the amount of the payment.
This seems screwy. The value of the car has not changed
in reality, only my equity in the car. In addition,
nothing is reflected in the loan account itself. How do
I record these payments?

Thanks.

Try "Loan Payment:[name of loan account]" instead of Transfer??? If you are
just trying to transfer principal, edit the loan payment splits to remove
the interest component and set the Principal Transfer component to whatever
you want.
