        • Help with Online Services Manager Hello, I am trying to configure online setup for Fidelity Netbenefits. It is listed as a supported institution on msn.com but I don't see it inside Money 2003. How do I fix this? Is there a way for Money to download updated list of supported institutions?         • Unable to find symbol in Ms Money I am a first-time user of Ms Money and I am not located in US. I am trying out the s/w with the trial version of Microsoft Money Plus Deluxe. I have been trying to add an investment to my investment account, but it seems a must to add in a ticker symbol in the transaction. I try to click on the "Find symbol" button but there is no response at all, and thus the whole transaction cannot be entered. Is there a way to record investment transactions without a ticker symbol? I believe this is meant for the s/w to link to the share prices (?) but the shares I am holding are not US shares so I am not sure if this feature can work.         • Caught in Money Plus update loop hell! Dear NG: Windows XP SP2 Computer Administrator account Uninstalled Money 2007 Deluxe 03/29/2008 Installed & activated Money Plus Deluxe 03/29/2008 1. Every time I sign into Money Plus Deluxe I'm prompted "To continue operating successfully, Money requires a software update. Click OK to close Money and begin the update now." 2. Clicking OK closes Money and results in a prompt "Money is now ready to download the new files. To begin the installation, click OK." Clicking OK results in another window showing many file names being downloaded, then it closes. 3. Reboot > Open Money > Same prompt as in Step 1. At this point I can either click Cancel or OK. "Cancel" results in the prompt going away but the Money Version number remains 17.0.120.727. "OK" results in Step 2. 4. Update without reboot, I'm prompted as in Step 1 but "OK" results in Money closing and I'm prompted with "The Money software update is already being installed or updated on this computer. Please try again once that installation or update is complete." clicking OK for this prompt closes the prompt but daupdate.exe remains running in Task Manager. 5. Terminating daupdate.exe and running Money just starts the loop all over again. 6. I've tried installing the update in Safe Mode, opening the sample.mny file, reinstalling Money Plus, moved My Money.mny to a folder in My Documents. 7. When I request a report that involves transactions in multiple currencies, all amounts are converted to dollars at today's rate, instead of using the conversion rate of the day when the transaction was entered.         • Payee detail in Money 2006 My credit card company issued me a new account number recently. I have changed the account number on the account details page but when I try to change it in the payee details for the account it won't let me. I used to epay the account but now I am worried that the card issuer/bank will receive the payment with the wrong account number and i'll end up in late pay problems and charges. Any ideas?         • Ohio lending rules 3-29-2008. Good Saturday morning to you. Today, I have to give a disclaimer before my mortgage message: My views do not necessarily represent those of my parent bank. I caught myself using a word to describe my job this week. I guess you could call it a Freudian Slip, which is best described as an error in speech, memory, or physical action that is believed to be caused by the unconscious mind. Throughout my career, I have used adjectives and nouns in colorful, professional ways in order to describe or glamorize my title; during the 2001-2004 era, I was THE MORTGAGE SPECIALIST, and my self-proclaimed title eventually evolved into MORTGAGE COUNSELOR during the 2004-2007 "First Time Buyer Program" period. Yesterday, when I tried to describe all of the overwhelming changes to credit score requirements, loan-to-value adjustments, and PMI criteria, my usual words didn't quite seem appropriate. Pages after pages of material have come across my weary eyes, and I have pink, green, and orange post it notes on my bulletin board for every important change that supersedes the last lender decision. I am no longer a LOAN OFFICER at Union National Mortgage Company; I regret to inform you that I am an "ENGINEER." In today's market, typical loan officers are extinct because loan officers can no longer simply create a loan, pick a rate, grab documents, and schedule the loan closing. In today's lending atmosphere, the contemporary loan officer must find an existing loan program for an applicant, accept the best rate that the program offers, carefully monitor the constant changes of the loan program before and during the process, pray the appraiser supports the value of the subject property, and hope the human underwriter does not overrule the automated underwriting system's loan approval because she/he might feel the loan has too much risk. When comparing the two types of loan professionals, it is easy to see that the successful loan officer must unlearn his previous job description and modestly embrace the role of a student-constantly reading daily guideline changes, hungrily digesting critical Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac updates, and applying the latest program modifications to each client's specific needs. Thus. . . engineer. The loan officer of old must find a different full time job. Considering all of the hurdles, are the national decision makers indirectly telling us that we shouldn't buy homes? I agree it certainly feels like that is the message, but I wish I were a first time buyer right now. I would grab a house with these low rates, live in it for two years, sell it when the market normalizes, and walk away with enough money to invest thousands in a few mutual funds. Without a doubt, this is the PERFECT time to buy a home. There are still a dozen incredible grants and loan programs available-even for those with less than perfect credit. The challenge in today's industry isn't finding a home. The difficulty is. . . many realtors and loan officers do not know the rules, and some of those who KNOW THE RULES have abandoned the industry because of their bitter disillusionment. Therefore, the real challenge becomes finding a team of professionals who will successfully navigate a borrower through the lending minefield without injury.         • Portfolio manager and same security display problem I am using Money 2008 Plus Deluxe. I have investment in Mutual Fund which is held partly directly with the Fund Manager and partly with a Fund supermarket. There are two seperate accounts list to manager this. In the Portfolio Manager, I want to show these as seperate items but Money will not allow me to use the same symbol for it. Is there a way round this?         • Money2004 - Vista problem Have just converted my OS from XP to Vista. I have reloaded MS Money 2004 but cannot get it to access my .mny files.         • Problem in Vista with Money 06, help please. I've got money set up to backup money file automatically when I close the program and it is set for keeping only 1 copy. In XP the way Money handled that is although there was already a backup in the Documents folder, when it saved, only the newest backup copy remained in the Documents folder. However with Vista it is keeping the old copy as well as any future copies it makes as I close the program. Does anyone know what is up with this? And maybe how I can solve it?         • 2 Problems with Money 2006 standard - and can I get re-install dis Ladies and Gentlemen, I currently use Microsoft Money 2006 standard which I updated to from Money 2003 Deluxe online. I downloaded the new files rather than installed from disks. I am having problems with Money which I am unable to resolve. Since I did this online I do not have disks which would allow me to fully remove Money and do a full reinstall. Is it possible to get these disks? The two main problems I am having are as follows: 1. - On the Money Home page under the heading: Bills and deposits three occurrences of the same payees bills are listed as overdue. However, these three occurrences are not overdue. When I click on any one of these occurrences I am taken to the Bills Summary page, but am offered no other way to resolve this situation. This bill is not listed on the Bills Summary page at all. The only other place I am able to find any mention of these â??past dueâ?? bills is on the calendar. When I click on any of the occurrences of this bill on the calendar in order to delete it I receive a message which tells me there are older occurrences of this bill and must delete the oldest occurrence first. However when I do click on the oldest occurrence in the calendar I receive the same message. I have gone so far as to delete the legitimate occurrences of this bill but there is no change. 2. - Whenever I use Money 2006 I am required to check the box indicating I wish to work offline. If I do not, when I review my Bills Summary page within Money there will be new â??duplicateâ?? occurrences of *all* my bills. These new duplicate occurrences will have the same date as the legitimate bills and are part of the legitimate bills. They are just additional occurrences of the same bill, including the amount of the bill. I have done this several times and am then required to go through my whole list of bills and delete these new duplicate occurrences.         • Multiple payees with same name... Hello. It's been awhile since I used Money but I just downloaded the trial of Plus because I'm sick of Quicken. However, I'm finding out that Microsoft has crippled their software since I last used it. Is it possible to have multiple payees with the same name? For instance, if I purchase gas at 3 different Hess stations, can they all just become Hess? I haven't found a way to do this. I find it hard to believe this isn't possible. Thank You.         • Insights running but not open in task bar? So I installed Money Plus and imported/converted my old money 2004 file. That file was a file I had been using since 1999 in Quicken...it's gone through some imports by now. I decided to rename my old money files xxxx_OLD, and create a brand new from scratch one. I figured this would help me utilize all the nice new features. So I got this all setup, but there is a problem with Insight. * I have the checkbox checked that says 'Start Insights when windows starts', but the icon doesn't show up in the task bar. * When I click on the the Insights launcher, it says that it's already running and I should click on the insight logo in the task bar...but of course it's not there. * If I right click on my Task bar and go to properties and click 'Customize' on the task bar tab, Insights is not in 'Current Items' but rather in 'Past Items' and it says 'Insights: Money file is closed'...but it's not. In there it's a folder icon (not the circle M) and clicking always show does not good. * If I kill the process in my Task Manager, then relaunch...Insights shows up in my taskbar, and in 'Current Items' under the task bar options. * It will then work the rest of the session, but once I restart the computer, it happens all over again. I'm thinking that somehow Insights, is on start up trying to access the original file xxxx_OLD or something, and I'm only able to jog it loose by killing it and restarting. Checking and unchecking the 'Start Insights when windows starts' (with a close of money in between) doesn't help. Didn't try fully restarting windows though. Any suggestions? Anyone know of a property file or something somewhere that maybe would have the other filename listed as 'default'? Any other suggestions.         • HELP - Monthly Income & Expenses Report I just wrote a check to the IRS, and in the Expense Catagory I indicated "Taxes : Federal Income Tax". Yet in the Income/Expense report, this payment is not included in my total federal taxes paid for this month. I should note that the check was written from an Investment Account. If I write the check from my checking account, the amount correctly shows up in the Income/Expense report. Any ideas as to why it works differently, depending on which account I pay the tax from?         • Loan shows up as Income I'm trying to figure out how to enter a loan in my check register without it showing up as Income that I would pay tax on or that I would want to declare as income. I understand that the payback is an expense, but am unsure how to make it work right. I do have a separate loan account that I have set up, and want the amount I put in my checkbook register to come off of that amount as well.         • Money Plus SP1 update fails I have XP SP2 and today got a message when I logged into Money Plus (including online services) to update the software. Clicked OK --> Money closed, downloaded started and just before it was 100% it gave an error that the update failed and to try again later. Have read a number of posts about this and tried various solutions 1. Rebooted several times 2. Turned off windows firewall 3. Disabled virus protection 4. Running as admin 5. No compatibilities checked off under properties. Nothing works. The download stops and the get the message that update fails and to try again later.         • No More Webconnect? I've been having problems updating any of my accounts from Wells Fargo for the past few days. Upon calling Wells Fargo, since Microsoft doesn't seem to have any human-to-human tech support for their products, two different agents informed me that with a recent Money Plus update MS has pulled the plug on their auto-update feature (webconnect). Is this true? Why discontinue such a convenient service? Very frustrating to say the least as I've been pulling my hair out trying to get my accounts to update for the past four days.         • Money Plus SP1 - No Improvement for Spending Tracker I had hoped the long awaited service pack would resolve the "Spending Tracker" performance issues, but sadly no, the performance remains lousy. If I eliminate the Spending Tracker content from the home page, the home page will display within 2-3 seconds. After adding the "spending Tracker" content the display time slows to a snails pace...32-34 seconds.         • Money Plus SP1 Update I just upgraded to Money Plus today. When I open the application it tells me that there is an update that needs to be applied. When I say OK - Money Plus closes - the Microsoft Money Updater window appears - the files get downloaded - the download progress goes to 100%. The screen then goes away and then everything just hangs there. Nothing ever re-opens. When I try to run Money Plus again - it tells me that an update is needed. When I say OK a second time it tells me that the update process is already running. I noticed that the daupdate.exe stays loaded in memory - so it appears to me that something is getting hung.         • Tax Estimate includes Roth Reinvested Distributions Hi, The reinvested distributions in the ROTH IRA account shows up in the tax estimator as dividend income. The account has been set up as a retirement account in Money 2006 Deluxe. I tried "right click", remove this transaction from tax calculations..did not work I tried "remove" ...also did not work. I tried to change the category of the orignal transaction, but unable to do so because Money does not seem to allow the investment activity category to be changed. How do I exlcude these distributions from the tax estimator? Is there a way to create a new type of "Investment Activity" in the options available from the drop down list... for instance "Reinvest Tax Exempt Distributions" ?         • MS Money Plus SP1 issue On 3/24 got the prompt to update software (I assume this would be SP1) when I opened MS Money Plus; I replied ok and Money closed. Soon after the following appeared "Microsoft Money software update functionality requires Windows XP Service Pack 2 or better." I have been running Windows XP Professional SP2 for almost 2 years (Windows Update site knows that I have SP2 installed).         • Updating Accounts via MSN/Yodlee Hello - I have two credit card accounts with institutions that do not support direct downloads themselves, but work through the MSN/Yodlee servers (CapitalOne & Bank of America). I have noticed that if I leave Microsoft Money running for a while, and do an "Update Now", these two accounts typically generate an "Update Unsuccessful" message. However, if go to moneycentral.msn.com, choose the "My Money" tab, and sign in immediately before the update, it typically works! Perhaps it has something to do with my Passport/Live ID credentials expiring and needing to be renewed?         • How to handle standard mileage expense for Schedule C I have this set up in money with a Business Expense for standard = mileage. I have it tied to Schedule C as I do also my income group for = gross receipts. My question is what do I do with the other half of the = Expense (MS is double entry although it tries to hide it). I created an = income account called Travel Allowance and made it Tax-Exempt. But this = doesn't seem quite right. What is the standard accountant's way of = handling this?         • Capital Gains of $0 I'm experiencing what appears to be an inconsistency in the reporting on the YTD Capital Gains Report. For some of my transactions, where the Sale Proceeds are equal to the Purchase Cost (i.e. $0 Gain/Loss), the report includes the transaction correctly showing the Gain/Loss as 0.00. For other transactions, where the Sale Proceeds are also equal to the Purchase Cost, the report does NOT include the transaction. In each of the cases I'm trying to resolve, the amounts are round numbers (i.e. 300 at $100), so there shouldn't be any fractional pennies creating an inexact $0. I have noticed that some of my "Mutual Fund" transactions ARE appearing on the report, while some of my "Other" and "Money Market" transactions are NOT appearing. I'm not sure if this has something to do with the inconsistency I'm seeing. Any suggestions of tweaking I can do? Ideally I'd like all of these transactions to appear regarding of whether the Gain/Loss is $0 or not $0. Thanks! Tag: test Tag: 234881

        • Income Counted Twice in Budget View as "Uncategorized Income" Hello - I am using MS Money 2008 Deluxe. Recently, the budget view started counting my income twice. Specifically, it is listed correctly for the income category that I entered it into the register as. However, it also is listed as "Uncategorized Income". I've done a quick search of this group and there was some mention of the phantom bills problem. However - I don't think that is the case here since some of the income incorrectly recorded is not input through the bills (for instance - a time tax refund).         • Money plus Home & Business - Portfolio page empty ? No data, no account I use Microsoft Money 2007 Home & Business and now i'm trying the Money plus H&B version So I open my Money 2007 file in Money Plus and it convert the file. I notice also that I Money plus we don't have the advance budget features anymore ! So now when I go to the Portfolio page i get an empty page and also nothing in the left pane of the screen ! This is the trial version I use while I wait to get the full version mailed to me. i'm not very happy that the Portfolio page don't work ! I have Windows Vista (32 bits). I also create a new file and I still have the same issue with the Portfolio empty page. So it is not my file that is corrupt. Could it be the Money Plus H&B trial version bugs ?         • Transfer to Savings Two part question. 1) My bank does an automatic transfer of money from my primary checking to my savings account. What "Category" do I put that under since it's not really an income or expense. Just a transfer of funds from one account to another? 2) There are special categories called "Transfer : [Bank Name] [Account name].
