Downloaded transactions showing as Reconciled
All of my transactions that I download from my credit card
company show up as reconciled before I do anything to
them. What is causing this and how do I change it?

problem connecting to online services
I am using Micorsoft 2003.
I am able to download statements into money from my bank,
but I cannot seem to get the set up online services to
work through money. I have talked to my bank and they see
no problem on their end. Here's what happens:
I go to set up the onoine services, I choose the correct
bank (bank one), enter correct user name and pw and click
next and I get the "Call Progress" screen with the movoing
dots and thats it. It never resolves to the next page.
I have tried disabling my firewall and antivirus. I have
installed all of the latest Money updates. Any thoughts? Tag: stock Tag: 166655
Payee names changing
Last week I added my personal account profile to my
business account profile(My financial instition did this),
simple meaning that they used only the user id and
password from my business account in order to download all
my accout information for both using one id and password.
After doing this everyu time I download an epay the payee
name changes to a payee that has nothing to do with that
payment. The online statement at the bank shows it as it
should be.

Quicken 2004 to Money 2004 conversion leaves all zero balances
I bought Money 2004 and converted my child's account from
Quicken 2000 to Money 2004 with no problem. I was waiting
to finish the taxes to do my account. In the meantime,
Quicken sent me a free Q2004 copy. The performance is
awful, and now I want to convert to Money 2004. However,
all the balances are zero after the supposed conversion.
The account names are there, but nothing in any of them. I
updated today to the latest Q2004 update and tried it
again. still no luck.

M2004 Investments
I purchased stock for an investment account, then
recorded dividends (either cash or reinvested) over a
period of time, then sold the entire amount of that
stock.
Sometime later the same stock is again purchased. Money
shows the dividend income for the previously sold shares
as part of the Gain in the Your Portfolio screen
(Standard View).

Money 2004/ Quicken Conversion
I have my investment portfolio on Money 2004. When I try
to convert my Quicken 2002 checkbook account over to
Money 2004 it drops my investment portfolio. Then when I
do a "backup" to restore by portfolio it drops my
checkbook information....I can't seem to get both items

Microsoft 97 - Stock symbols unrecognizable
We are running Microsoft Money 97 with Internet Explorer
6 and Windows ME. It
ran fine for the first couple years, but the last couple
of months it
will no longer allow me to download stock quotes. When I
push the button
for online quotes a screen comes back saying the various
stock symbols
are unrecognizable. I have tried uninstalling and
reinstalling the

Pension instalments
Have been making payments for some time into a pension fund, unfortunately I
set the fund up without a cash account. As the cash paid over does not
directly relate to the number of units bought in the fund I now have an
inaccurate record. Is there a way of setting up a cash account within the
fund and transferring all previous payments into it, without having to amend
each individual one?

Mortgage Transfer
Hi. I have Money 2000. My bank has merged and at the
time my mortgage kept going until the fixed rate expired.
At that time a new mortgage was drawn up (with the new
bank). How do I close the 'old' mortgage and transfer it
to the new mortgage? I have set up a new mortgage account
however the old one still has the principal outstanding on
it. This happened more than 3 years ago. I now just
tidying things up!

Eliminate "Investment Performance" from Portfolio page?
I recently upgraded to Money 2004 from a previous version. I would like to
get rid of the new "Investment Performance" panel at the bottom of the
Portfolio page: I'd much rather have the screen real estate than the random
tidbits of info that the panel provides. Is there a way to eliminate it?

Can't see categories in Budget Planner/Won't load Monthly Budget report
In the last couple of days, Money stopped showing the
categories under the budget details. In the "Review your
current budget status" screen, under budget details, it
usually shows each income and expense category and how
I'm doing so far in the month. Now none of that shows.
I have made sure to check View all budget items and show
expense and income in the view menu, but this does not
help. In addition, Money will no longer load the monthly
budget report when I click "Other Tasks, view reports,
monthly budget." I have this problem no matter what
budget I load. I have tried restoring a backup from
floppy disk, but Money says it is corrupt data. Any

I'm getting the following error box on Windows XP boot-
up: "Activation.exe -- Entry point not found. The

I notice that Activation.exe is in the Microsoft Money
subdirectory.
If i just click on the box (to get rid of it), the
computer appears to function normally.

fix it?) -- especially options that don't involve having
to do a full restore.

Can't enter new payees
I recently installed Money 2004 and it worked fine. It
seems that about the time I tried to download a statement
and had problems trying to read the transactions (I
eventually gave up and deleted the statement), it quit
allowing me to enter new payees. I can enter a
transaction directly into the register as long as it isn't
a new payee. If I try, I get a message saying "Money
could not write to your Money file. The task could not be
performed or another application finished this task
before you. Please try again." I can enter transactions
without a payee or with payees already on file. Can

invoicing for expenses - still need help!
Thanks for the reply, but I still don't get it. How do I designate an
expense as a reimbursable item in the register? The register has deposits,
withdrawals and transfers - I just don't get this. Appreciate your help and

Money 2003 Closes prematurely
When I import a bank statement in Money 2003, it displays an error, saying
that it needs to close. I even tried to re-install Money 2003 with no
success. I run Money 2003 on Windows XP.
Windows XP I update regularly, similar with Money 2003, but no slution.
Anybody out there that can help. I have a lot of data in the programme,

Entering Categories
I'm a new user of Money. I loaded several months worth of
transactions into Money. I'm entering categories for the
transactions, but, I don't want to have to enter each and every single
one of hundreds of transactions. Shouldn't it the categories
automatically be applied to like named transactions. In other words,
if i enter a category of "Food - groceries" for a transaction for
Safeway, shouldn't all of the Safeway transactions pick up the same
category?

Why I can download with MSN Money and not Money 2004
Why is it that I can download my transactions free using
MSN Money, but I have to pay $5 a month to have "direct
internet services" from my bank, which isn't even updated
that often?

Null a transaction, but not delete
How do I null/suppress a transaction that is nonsense. For example, my bank
charge a fee by mistake, and correct it later. I have now two transactions
in the statement that cancel each other in dollar amount. It's no use to
categorize them, and I don't want it to show up in any reports or similar
things. But at minimum, I just want to keep them stay within the account as
two transactions. so I don't want to delete them permanently.

My son bought a new computer with XP which came with the
latest version of Money and I have an older computer with
98SE on which I use Money 2000. Since he has no use for

HELP! Money 2004 Crashes when Closing
I had to reformat reinstall my entire computer. All went well, except I'm
having trouble with Money.
Now, I cannot backup. When I do, the program freezes up. When I try to
exit, I get "internal application error" and have to close out using the
three finger salute.
Following this, I restart money, and the database is reported to be
invalid/corrupt.
I've uninstalled/reinstalled, and the problem stays.
Any suggestions?

Cannot Download Statement
I use Washington Mutual. I go to their website and try to download a
statement into Money. The statement appears to download properly (I see the
progress dialog finish and go away), but then Money does not suck the file
in!

Converting from Passport to regular password
I accidentally switched from a standard password to using
MSN Passport and for a few days thought that it was ok,
but now I want revert back to having a regular password
protected file.
When I go into disable MSN Passport, it gives me the
following error: "Money cannot complete your Microsoft
Passport change, possibly because of problems with your
internet connection. Please disconnect from the Internet,
reconnect and try again."
I have never seen anything so stupid, but I tried that
and it seems to not make any difference.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Infos on MS Money 2004 International Version
Hi All,
Like others, I've been trying to track down information on where I can
get the international version of MSM2004. Here's what I've found so
far:
The International version (as opposed to US or UK versions) is
primarily sold in Australia/New Zealand/etc., but is also available in
Europe (specifically in Switzerland). The Microsoft Part-No. is
105-00462, which can be googled easily. I have an order outstanding
for this product and will feed back as soon as I've received it.
Another thing: there seems only to be a 'standard' version for
international users. "DeLuxe" and others are not available.
From what I've read on other boards (german-speakers, try
microsoft.public.de.money) the label on the box should point to "AU"
(for Australia) or "International".

money 03 troubles downloading from bank
recently I have been unable to download from my bank. I
go to the bank sight and everything appears to work
fine...but there is no downlad in money. No notice of
items downloaded. Then the bank says that there is no
info for download because it is already done. This
happened spontaneously with no system changes.

Wrong Payee in downloaded statements
MS Money 2004 Standard OEM edition
I've had Money for years and never had this problem until I upgraded
to the 2004 version about 6 months ago.
When I download a statement, Money will often change the payee field
to what it 'thinks' the payee should be. This has messed up my
statements as I don't always catch them. It seems to do this if the
downloaded statement amount is very close to a similar bill I have
paid in the past.
How can I just get money to stop "guessing' at these fields and not
change any field that is downloaded?

When money does its internet updates it fails to synch
with my msn account for msn money plus. I get the
following eror message: "money cannot confirm your
Microsoft Passport. Your data is not being synchronized
with MSN money on the web.

Downloading "QFX" Files to Money 2004
My Bank Download is a ".QFX" File format.
I am having problems trying ti import it into Microsaft
Money 2004. Can anyone give me some advice.
I tried going to "File" then "Import" then highlighting
the downloaded file and clicking "Import", but nothing
happens. The Sovereign Bank folks said the "QFX" file is
the one that should work with Microsoft Money. It looks
like its a kind of Quicken file but the "QFX" file
extension does not match the normal Quicken file
extensions cited in Money.

2004 Portfolio wrong data
The portfolio section of money 2004 seems to work great with one major
exception. The Dow Jones price index downloads the incorrect price.
It keeps reporting that the price of the Dow is 9.xxx when the correct
figure is 10,3xx.xx. NASDAQ and S&P are all working correctly. I
have money 2004 installed on another computer which reports the
correct amount for the Dow.
Obviously I have something setup wrong but I have been over and over
it. Suggestions please.

I am using ms money2002 and when I print a check the only
thing printed is the name of the payee, date, amt. of
check and written amt. of check. No payor header or

In the accounts list the balance shown on my checking
account is 287.24 less than what it is on the check
register. The check register is correct. The only check
of that ammount was written in 2002 if that means
anything. I am using Money 2004 Standard on a new
notebook. The error started after the first days of

Text search function in Money
I am using the Money 2002, and I have entered 2 years of transactions. Some
of them I put detailed note in the memo field of the transaction for future
reference. When I doing my tax, I like to pull up piece information here and
there from Money, so I tried Search function.
In the advanced search box, when I choose all account (credit card, bank,
cash) to search for word "tax", it only returns those payee field containing
"tax". It just skips/ignores the memo field of each transaction. I look
around, but not seeing anywhere having option to search "all text field".

Using OFX with Netbank
Not a question, but a problem I saw on Googlegroups without a resolution
(example below). I've found a solution that worked for me. Just want to
post it so it can get onto Google (or the FAQ?) for those who face it in the
future.
When setting up Netbank and using the same userid & password that I've been
using for years, I get an error message indicating that there's a problem
with my username or password. Netbank support says they don't know much
about MS Money and can't really help.
Solution: Down at the bottom of the list of banks, there's a bank called
'zzzNetbank'. Use this instead of Netbank, and it works immediately.

Mass Update for Multiple Entries - Assign Category
I am currently using Money 2003 Deluxe. I could really
use some help here to save me some time. What I do is
download my account entries from my bank. When doing so,
if the payee details are the same as an earlier entry the
category information defaults to an earlier entry. This
is great and saves me a lot of duplicate work.
I have a lot of entries from UPS as I ship with them
daily. That being said, the payee information is always
different for these entries since as it includes the
tracking number which is unique for each package. Because
of this, the category information does not get filled out
automatically. I can have 60 entries for UPS and have to
go through them 1 by 1 and apply the same category to
each. So my questions are - can I automate this in any
way or is there a way to select multiple entries and apply

Need to Transfer Files Between Money and Quicken
I've got an interesting problem here. I need to transfer files between Money
2002 and Quicken Premium 2004. The first four attempts at having Quicken
read exported QIF files has been a disaster. Quicken is absolutely no help.
Their built-in help is referring me to webpages that don't exist. There is
supposed to be a tool to convert the file format, but the fine print says it
is for converting between previous versions of Quicken and Quicken 2004, but
it "may work" for converting Money files. A Quicken guru says I need to
export Money files to XML in order to bring the files into Quicken. Can
Money 2002 do this?

Mortgage Payments
Hello all,
I recently switched from Quicken, and I'm confused about how to pay my
mortgage payment electronically, while having it update my mortgage loan
account appropriately.
I am already set up to pay bills electronically, through my bank, and it
works fine. I have set up my home mortgage in MS Money 2004, and it seems
correct. Here's my dilemma:
If I go to the Bills & Deposits area, select my mortgage bill, and pay the
bill using the Pay Online button, it pays my bill electronically, and makes
and entry in my checking account register -- but it doesn't use the split
categories for principal, interest, insurance, taxes, etc. that I set up,
and it doesn't update my home mortgage loan account, deducting the
principal. Instead, it categorizes the entire payment amount to "Bills :
Mortgage Payment".
If I go to my Home Mortgage account, click the New button, select "Make a
regular loan payment", enter the payment date and account, and click OK, it
enters the transaction correctly in both my checking register (with all of
the proper split categories) and my home mortgage register (deducting the
proper amount of principal automatically) -- but it doesn't actually make
the electronic payment.
Once you set it up, this was fairly easy to do in Quicken, in one easy step.
I'm sure it must be similar in MS Money 2004, but I can't figure it out.
I would GREATLY appreciate any help that can be offered. My mortgage payment
is due on 5/1!!!
