I have recently reloaded my pc with win2000 and money 98.

I went to restore from my back up disk and the file type
is .mbf not .myn which is what money is looking for. I had
also backed up to my other HD and this also has a .mbf
extention but is 5 times larger.

I have tried to change the extention but money just tells
me that the file is corrupt so I tried the same thing with
the other backup and the same problem ( the file is
currupt ) but i find it highly unlikly that both files are
currupt. Also this doesnt explain the fact that both files
have seemingly the wrong extention .mbf instead of .mny.

Can any one help as I have 3 years of finacial info in
these files.

Thanks
Steve

Renaming file extensions is dangerous because if you try to
then read the file, the file type might change(and corruupt) due to
the new extension. Then you may have serious problems with
the file.

Money 98 required an update for the multi-disk backup. Here's a link to the
article describing the process.
