    - Money 2000 Online Download Problem I am having problems downloading account balances online. I never had a problem prior to July 2003, but now after Money 2000 downloads the balances, it wants me to choose an account to match with the downloaded account number. When I point it to the right account name, it gives me a message indicating "the bank associated with this account has already been enabled for Online Services through another service provider.     - Backup files can't be read I had a question that I can't seem to resolve on the money support page. We have Money 97 (5.0) and have never been able to open any backup files we have made. Our computer crashed once and we lost everything. The files are recognized as money files, because when we click on them, the Microsoft Money program opens, but then it says, "There has been an error reading or writing the file . . .[file name]." It then instructs us that we need another file in order to fully open the program. What is the problem? I don't want to lose everything again, and if we get a new computer in the near future, I don't know how we'll transfer the information.     - Flexible Spending Account Does anyone have a good way to setup a Flexible Spending Account (FSA or IRS 125 plan). For example I have $20 deducted from my paycheck each week and it goes to my FSA. As I incur medical costs I can get the money from my FSA. This is all pre-tax money. I setup an FSA as an account and it fills with $20 each paycheck. However I pay my medical expenses with checks and credit cards.     - Debt Reduction Planner Headache OK, here's my story: I've been using Money for about 8 months. Money 2002 came bundled on my laptop. I started using the debt reduction planner about 7 months ago. I set it all up, put my 10 or so accounts (all credit cards) into it, and established that I could pay $400 per month. The minimum payments totaled to about $360, so this was fine. The software told me to make the minimum payments on all but the card with the highest APR, which was to get its minimum payment plus whatever was left out of the $400. This made perfect sense, and I started making and recording payments. The next month, the planner told me to pay this card (with the highest APR) a little more. The problem was, with all the payments, the total was a little over $400, and that's really all I can afford to pay each month. I realized it was in the middle of the month, and figured the software was a little confused by how much of that $400 was still left to pay credit cards. The next month it happened again, and this time I made sure it was at the beginning of all the monthly payments. It had me paying about $600 total. I did my own figuring and just paid what I thought appropriate, totaling $400. As you might have guessed, it kept getting worse. Soon, it was telling me to pay $800 just to that one card, in addition to making the other cards' payments. I upgraded to Money 2004 Deluxe, thinking Microsoft may have solved this problem. I was wrong. As of this past month, the software wants me to pay $1100 to the one card, and I only owe $950 total. I've checked for help on this, have reset the planner twice and have made sure all of the accounts are set up properly (not charge cards, open, etc.). It's still the same. Only the current month is messed up like this; the following months' payments all total to $400 each. It tells me I'll be out of debt by next year, which would be nice, but I would like to have at least a good estimate of when I'll REALLY be out of debt. The letter goes on to state that you would receive several thousand dollars in five-dollar bills within 2 weeks if you sent out the letter with your name at the top of the 5-addressee list. "I get junk e-mail all the time- and really did not think it was going to work." the boy continues. Within the first few days of sending out the e-mail- the post office box that his parents had gotten him for his video-game magazine subscriptions began to fill up with not magazines, but envelopes containing $5 bills. "About a week later I rode my bike down to the post office and my box had one magazine and about 300 envelopes stuffed in it. There was also a yellow slip that said I had to go up to the post office counter. So thought I was in trouble or something (laughs)." He goes on- "I went up to the counter and they had a whole box of more mail for me. I had to ride back home and empty out my backpack because I could not carry it all. " Over the next few weeks, the boy continued sending out the e-mail. "The money just kept coming in and I just kept sorting it and stashing it in the closet, I barely had time for my homework." He had also been riding his bike to several of the banks in his area and exchanging the $5 bills for twenties, fifties, and hundreds. "I didn't want the banks to get suspicious, so I kept riding to different banks with like five thousand at a time in my backpack. I would usually tell the lady at the bank counter that my dad had sent me in to exchange the money and he was outside waiting for me. One time the lady gave me a really strange look and told me that she would not be able to do it for me and my dad would have to come in and do it, but I just rode to the next bank down the street (laughs)." Surprisingly, the boy did not have any reason to be afraid. The reporting news team examined and investigated the so-called "chain letter" the boy was sending out and found that it was not a chain letter at all. In fact, it was completely legal according to US Postal and Lottery Laws, Title 18, Sections 1302 and 1341, or Title 18, Section 3005 in the US code, also in the code of federal regulations. When trying to transfer money to make a payment, the loan does not show up on the list of accounts in the category list - like all my other non-loan accounts. However, the associated asset does. If I select the asset, Money decides the value of the asset goes up by the amount of the payment. This seems screwy. The value of the car has not changed in reality, only my equity in the car.     - Downloaded transactions balance not equal to registers transaction balance Using MS Money 2003 and online services to download transactions from my credit card account. I just downloaded the latest transactions from my account today and though 1 particular transaction has posted to the online account, Money didn't download it and put it in the register for my credit card account.     - 04 Deluxe: troublesome transaction keeping account out of balance... This is the text of my querry to ms money support, posting here too to see if anyone can help. Many thx! I have a credit card account that is several years old that I have been balancing monthly. About 2 years ago there was a transaction from my checking account to the credit card account for payment (from checking acct set up as a transfer to the cc account) that for some reason was voided and entered again. The amount of these transaction appears correctly in the account balance section (the voided transaction has no impact however the re-enetered transaction has the correct credit amount). The cc account was balanced after this transaction, however the voided transaction appears as reconciled "R" while the re-enetered transaction does not appear with the reconciled "R" flag. Subsequent balancing of the cc account all appear correct in that after downloading the statement from the cc issuer (done on a monthly basis as a downloaded statement). What is strange is that the cc account when viewed from the money home page or from the account list shows a credit balance of the amount of that 2-year old payment that is not reconciled. When I look at the account from the account view, this descrepancy is not there. My attempts to get this account to balance have been unsuccessful. I have tried setting the old transaction to "R" during the monthly balance process however then money wants to enter reconciliation transaction to offset the diference it starting balance, if it do this then the account appears correctly when viewed from the money home page or account listings, but when viewed from the account itself, the reconciliation transaction is making the "amount i owe" appear the amount of the 2-year old payment transaction plus current charges. So my question is, how do i force this account to reconcile and keep the view of the accoutn on money home and from within the account in synch? please note that i have been trying various approaches to fix the account on a backup version of the file so I can backtrack on this.     - Very Slow DownloadTimes When I download a particular transaction from my online statments, it takes almost 40 seconds. With 15 transactions to download, that's 10 minutes. It used to take only about 2 or 3 seconds per transaction. Any thoughts out there would be greatly appreciated. The culprit may be that I have transactions from the beginning of 1997 (6.5 years).     - Disappearing Transactions I have Microsoft Money 2002 I've been downloading my statements to money using Money download option. Unfortunately every time I make a download it screws up the existing transactions in Microsoft Money. That is, I can have my Money account perfectly balanced with my Suncorp accounts, then when I download my latest transactions from Suncorp my money transactions get messed up. The new transactions are brought over perfectly, but when they come over some of my previous transactions in Money disappear. This means I have to go through every transaction in Money to see which transactions have been mysteriously disappeared, then re enter it manually. .............................. I emailed the above to my bank Suncorp Metway bank here in Australia and got the following response: Thank you for your secure message sent 08/09/03. Even though we offer the option to download we do not offer support for Downloading your transaction history, as this is not our area of expertise. Below are the steps you would follow to download the transactions to Money. Verify the extension you are using for MONEY is .ofc To download your transaction history results, please follow these steps. 1. Logon to Online Access using your Customer ID and Password. 2. Perform a transaction history search from Everyday Banking or Loans. This will give you the transaction results page. 3. Select the package you would like to download the transactions into. Then select if you would like to download this page or all transactions. For results that have less than 25 transactions selecting either option will download all transactions presented. 4. A pop up box will be displayed once the download link is selected. The pop up box will advise you what extension you will need to save the file as. For MONEY the extension is .ofc, QUICKEN is .qif and ASCII is .txt as indicated above. 5. The 'File Download' box will be displayed to ask you where you would like to save this file. Select 'Save this file to disk'. Click Ok. 6. Save the file to a location that you will remember. Don't forget to save the file with the necessary extension. For MONEY the extension is .ofc, QUICKEN is .qif and ASCII is .txt. Type in the File Name of the document and the correct extension and then click save. 7. Open the spreadsheet package that you wish to download the transactions into. 8. Select the option to import files. 9. Go to the location in your directory where you saved the file. Double click on the file to open it. 10. The transactions will download your transaction history search results into your accounting package.     - "Earmark" money? I'm refining my budget, but I've always wondered if there is a way to "earmark" money. Say I budget $100 for some category each month, but only spend $75 in a particular month. Is there a way to "earmark" the unspent funds? So that the balance in that account could also be viewed as the virtually-dedicated funds. So that I'd know what funds should be set aside to maintain projected/budgeted expenses. Hope that makes sense.     - Double Entry Problem w/ invoice and bank download I have an invoice that I receive payment for and automatically register it in my bank account. Then I log into my bank account after I deposit the payment and see that there are now two entries. One for the payment transaction the other for the actual deposit. The one that is deposited cannot be labled payment of invoice. It gives and error, and then when I opt to change it so that I can assign it the other transaaction the pyament of invoice tranasaction does not show up as an option. This results in a double entry, if I delete the payment of invoice my invoice blance increases back to the original value.     - Interest period for loan calculation I'm getting started in Money 2004. I imported my Quicken 2003 data file into Money without any errors. Afterward, I checked the amortization schedule for my loan in Money, and I noticed that it was different than in Quicken. After some investigation using Excel, I've deduced that Money is calculating the interest and principal breakdown for each payment based on the *actual number of days* between payment due dates. However, my lender uses the "30/12" method for calculating payments, meaning payments are based on 12 payments per year with 30 days in each month. (This is how Quicken calculates the payments, too.) The "30/12" method is very standard for home mortgages, so I'm sure there is some way to configure Money to calculate the payments and amortization schedule using this methodology.     - Trouble Downloading Account Activity into Register I am having trouble downloading information from my Wells Fargo accounts from the WF website into Microsoft Money 2003. Whenever I go the download process that I have always done, none of the new downloaded information shows up in the register but the register screen does indicate that I have "x" number of new items to view. I do not use Microsoft Passport. I don't know if it's related, but this problem began a few weeks ago after we completely unplugged the computer and surge protector from the wall to repaint. The next time I powered up my Money file was blank and had to restore from back up. I hope there is an easy solution . . . or at least that's easier than deleting the accounts and starting over.     - msmoney3.bak Does anybody know what version this file is? I had to reload my PC from scratch and when I tried to restore my msmoney3.bak file it asked for my password, but won't accept it. I KNOW that I have the correct password. Here's another item I noticed - when I create a test file in the MS Money version I have (2000) - it saves it as a MSMoney2 file and the task bar reflects it as MSMoney2 as well. COuld it be that I have a deluxe version or MSMoney 2003 and just don't remember doing it - my husband and I share this progrgam - but he can't remember upgrading it.     - Transactions marked reconciled when not? I have had a problem with transactions in my account register showing up as reconciled when they are not. This has happened to me more than once, and to a friend as well. It is highly improbable that I mistakenly marked them reconciled myself, since it takes several key/mouse strokes to do so and this has happened multiple times. I don't understand how this can happen and the starting balance for the next reconciliation be correct? In other words, how in the heck am I balancing? I'm thinking there must be a glich in the program somehow...does anyone know of an update I can download that will correct this? I'm using Money 2002, v 10.0. Any help is greatly appreciated. Money 2000 it asks me to insert a disk, It looks like I
have made the back up wrong.

The easiest fix is to copy your money CD to a folder on the hard
drive. Then run setup.exe from that folder.

A workaround is to put ANY CD into the drive.

transfer with the backup option or the restore option..It
looks as if their is data on the disk it just wont restore
to the new install i did when i upgraded my computer..

any tips....
