    - Restore from .NET passport??? Hey there. I was wondering if it is at all possible to restore data from my .NET passport account. The file was associated with a Money 2005 data file I had created (but evidently did not back up) before I reformatted my hard drive. This file contains all of my company's financial data for the past four years. I would hate to have lost it. Please tell me this IS possible.     - Trial version overwrites paid version. I've been using Money forever and wanted to get 05 for the automatic updates. I backed up my 04 and signed up for the trial version. It seem to work OK. Then I read that everything might not port over correctly when/if I pay and get a full copy. So I bought a copy, downloaded and installed. Worked fine. Once Money finished downloading the updates, it reverted back to the trial version. What do I do know? I paid money for 05 deluxe and now it won't work. You have to love Microsoft.     - How do you enter in Employee Stock Purchase Plans (423 Plans) I get a discounted price when the purchase is made (15% minus the lower of either the 1st day or last day of the quarter) In quicken they handle these. When I enter it in, it allows me to put in the true price and my discounted price. Then it can track the capital gains tax based upon how long I hold the stock.     - modifying budgeted income I'm using Microsoft Money 2003. I entered in a recurring $5000 deposit and wanted to test it out. When i went to the bills&deposits screen and recorded the deposit, it worked out great. But the problem occured when i tried to undo that recording action. I went to the accounts screen and to my checking account and deleted the transaction, which worked just fine. The deposited amount was subtracted. The deposit was monthly, and so it said the bill was last paid on july 1st, and the next payment was to be august 1st. But when i went back to the bills&deposits screen, and modified it to say the deposit was july 1st again, (since i deleted the transaction), i went back to my budget screen and it effectively doubled my income! It said i had a budgeted income of $10,000 now, instead of the original $5,000. I tried to edit my budget, but it seems to be fine. How do i "reset" my budgeted income?     - Money2004 tries new setup Suddenly, today when I went to open Money 2004 , which I've been using successfully for a long time, it's trying to go through a new setup("Setup Assistant will upgrade your file and ask a few questions to help you get started". WHY? I'm concerned that something is curupt. So, I aborted & ran my virus scan(Avast) & Spybot. Nothing turned up bad from those scans. When I tried again to open Money2004 & went to follow the setup to the next screen(MONEY FILE CONVERSION) it states that Money 2004 will make a copy of my original file "C:\WINDOWS\DESKTOP\AVAST!~1.LNK", so your data will not be lost. The fact that it would choose that file, whatever it is really seems a mystery besides that fact that it wants to "Convert a copy of your Money file for use in Money 2004" Can anyone help, Please.     - Online payments Whenever I sumbit an online paymet, and it is processed, money automatically assigns it a date of 12/31/1969. It still pays it on the date I originally specified but the wrong date confuses things like when the bill was last paid and it makes it harder to find the record in my register. Obviously the small guys don't do on-line anything, so I have been entering stuff for years on my own. How do I go about transferring everything into the new Fidelity accounts since it uses on-line updates without losing my historical data; basically, I don't want my capital gains report to get messed up by using the "Transfer Account" function.     - XL2QIF w/401K My financial services company doesn't offer Money exports, so I'm using XL2QIF to try to recreate a file and import it. This is for a 401K account. I've got the columns DATE, CATEGORY, ACTION, COMMISSION, QUANTITY, PRICE, ACOUNT. Create the QIF file. So I go to File -> Import -> As a New or Recovered Account. Then it asks me to pick an account, so I select the account. Then it asks me to "Choose the Money investment..." I would like to use for this import. Well, there are several funds in the import, so I guess I must import the funds individually and then select them in the list (?). So I select which fund. Well, it LOOKs like it imported, but in each of the transactions money has added ON ITS OWN the Transfer From selection of the account I selected. How the heck do I just do a simple import without having money trying to outsmart me? Is there a guide that goes through the process of how to properly create a file to import to Money? Thanks.     - currency mismatch I am using Money 2001 (PC came with winXP home edition). I am attempting to download my credit card statments from ATT universal card into Money. It doesn work; the downloading process gives an error message: "Your statement contained a default currency (USD) which was unrelated to the currency of the account 'AT&T Universal Card Credit Card'. Money does not support statements containing unrelated default currencies." The default currency for my Money software is "$", whereas ATT statements show "USD". What should I do?     - Phantom Cash In M2004, my cash balance in a brokerage acct (under cash transactions) is $144. In portfolio view it's $0, which is correct. The $144 is the combined total of 2 dividends, but they are properly accounted for, with the dividends going into a money market acct. I deleted all (orginally downloaded from broker) and rentered.     - Help! - Restoring a back-up file This morning I had to format my HDD and re-install windows. I backed up my Money files onto a memory stick and have now re-installed Money (2003 standard). I cannot, however, restore the back-up. I go into File/restore back up. I select the back-up file and click on 'restore'. I then get a window asking me where I want to file the restored back-up file and gives me the default option in 'My Documents'. If I then click on restore - all that happens is that the back-up file is duplicated into My Documents - nothing goes into 'Money' itself.     - MS Money 2004 : phantom transactions on list of accounts Been using Money for several years. Just yesterday, I started noticing a worrying problem. All my accounts totals on the "list of accounts" summary screen are wrong. If I go into the individual accounts they are right, but there are any number of accounts that have the total wrong in summary. "Favourite Accounts" are the same way. I think what is happening is that Money has applied all the future items from the "Bills and deposits" list as duplicate phantom transactions to these totals. When I go to the list of accounts and click on the (+) to expand an account I can see them, but when I actually go into the account they aren't there so I can't remove them. If I go to calendar for July, each "bill and deposit" I have scheduled has a double entry (one with a line through and the other which I guess is the "real" one).     - Budget Adjusts when I add a bill I have recurring payments set up for a monthly expenditure that happens on the first of every month. It just so happens that this month, the expense was $41 dollars over normal (the bill is normally $175). When I wrote the check for $216 and added it in, the Budget Summary adjusted my budgeted amount for this category by the difference. Here is the scenario: $300/ea. month set aside for Pet Care. $175 normally for Horse Board This month it was 216.13 Budget adjusted my $300 to $342 so that I have the normal monthly remainder of $125 left over.     - Check printing issue In Money 2002 I will create a series of checks to print but after having individually printed all but the last check the "Print Checks" option disappears, though there remains in the register that final check to be printed. If I go to File/Print Checks, it tells me that I have no accounts with checks to be printed.     - M05 Save issues Over the last several days, I have noticed a new problem with my M05 file. I download transactions from the bank, review them, editing as necessary, then, "Accept" them. When I close out that M05 session, I always back-up to my hard drive and a floppy. The problem is that, when I re-open M05 the next time, those transactions that I previously "Accepted" are still showing as needing review. In other words, it appears as though my 'Save' isnt' working. I am currently creating an additional back-up floppy, but, i wondered if this is a known problem, and, how to remedy it? Also, in reading the Archives of this board, I found a note from a user that stated that WinXP has a 'built-in' that will allow me to save my M05 file to a CD in addition to the floppy. Is this true?     - Money 2005 - Update With help from CAL LEANER --- MVP, I have managed to load 2005 on my notebook and get it to read files from previous versions, but it will still not load on my desktop. I get an error which says some elements could not be loaded, try again. I do with not success. I have tried: Creating a new ADMIN USER, Error message says that 'I cannot load it on this computer as I do not have permission from my network administrator to access 'local machinery reg'. MS suggested that I remove my Diectway satellite connection, I did this although it is difficult software to reinstall It made no difference!!! I was not happy with MS or their crap software. MS suggested that I do a re-install, install the computer (recent HP) back to its original configuaration and install Money 2005 first. I do not think that this is an accepatble piece of advice. I have had many previous versions of Money, but have nver had any problems. I purchased two copies of 2005, one for the notebook, one for the Desk. I upgraded to 2005 so I could use in with my PDA.     - Money 2005/2006 Invoices I may see if there is a 2006 demo I can install on a different machine and check these out, but was wondering if anyone looked at invoices in 2006 or have any additional tips with 2004/2005. Problem #1: One of the problems with 2003/2004/2005 is that you can't seem to mark invoices as paid without selecting an account to automatically assign the transaction to. So naturally you get a duplicate transaction everytime on automatic downloads. Solution is to create a holding account you just ignore. Or if you can, merge the downloaded transaction with the payment -- which is really tricky, since you need to split the deposit. Normally your bank deposits contain multiple checks. Any improvements with 2006? Or any new tips on this? Problem #2: When you mark an invoice as partially paid, this is not calculated on the actual invoice. So, you print it out, the total is still the full amount. You can't have it calculate what they actually owe. Solution is to put a note at the bottom what they paid, but sometimes this note is overlooked. Any improvements with 2006? Or any new tips on this? Problem #3: The invoice template designer is full of problems. I don't need to explain them all.     - Report Help For Classifications I'm trying to set up classifications for short-term loans, but I can't get reports to work the way I want. I want to be able to able to track transactions that I do for others, who will then pay me back later. I have set up a classification, called "Loan To" to track the person who owes me money, leaving it blank for my own. I still want to be able to specifiy the catagory as normal (not just sticking with one, like PAYBACK). The trouble is, when I try to generate a report for just one "Loan To" person, it displays all transaction, including those where I left the Loan To field blank. I want to be able to see all transactions for all catagories, but for just the one Loan To person. If I deselect all catagories, nothing shows up.
