Several have now suggested that Money 2002 will work again
if we reinstall it to a new directory.

How can we make sure we do not lose our data in the
process? How do we access our data once Money is
reinstalled?

Also if someone has the patience to post step by step how
to "reinstall Money to a new directory," that would be
much appreciated.

How to reinstall Money 2002 w/o losing data? by Chris

The re-install does not delete your mny file, but it is
best to have a backup.

To make my life easier in backing up important files I
created the following directory structure.

C:\data
\word
\excel
\money
\pictures

and simply do a backup of the c:\data directory to cd-
rom/tape/dvd

If you didn't bother renaming your mny file before all
this happened, then I believe that the re-install would
have picked up your default mny file. If you renamed it
and/or moved it to another directory, you would simply
start Money and before signing in go to the FILE menu and
open your file where ever it may be.

That should do it.

I highly recommend moving important files into a specific
directory as I do, rather than have them spread about the
file system.

Your account probably already has Administrator privilege. Let's
assume so.

Close down as many applications as you can. Insert the CD into the
drive. If the Autorun does not bring up the setup process, run
Setup.exe from that drive.

Follow the directions until you see a Reinstall and a Remove button.
I would choose Reinstall to see if that cured it

If not, I would do the same thing, but click the Remove to uninstall
the old install. Then again run setup. When you choose install, you
will be permitted to choose a custom install. From the custom
install you can choose to use a new folder for the install.
