Hi. I've got the Microsoft Money Plus trial and have only had it for about 2
weeks. It was working fine last time I ran it a few days ago and today when I
ran it, it won't log me in. It says, "You must be connected to the internet
to sign in online."

Nothing interesting has changed on my computer other than:
- A new version of zone alarm, which I've tried turning off and running
MsMoney, but I still get the same error.
- Whatever random updates Microsoft has decided to do.

Is anyone else seeing this? Anyone know how to fix it?

Thanks,
mike

See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/899935

You might consider restoring a Restore Point in Windows to a time
before the problem occurred. Even if you don't do that, the list of
restore points might remind you of an install you did recently.

I would try starting Windows in Safe Mode with Networking. Then run
Money and see how it works. If it can connect then, I would expect
something is running during a regular boot that is blocking things.

I would not browse to random websites in that mode.

Zone Alarm in the past has been known to cause problems for Money
Turning it off is not always sufficient. You may want to try removing it or
at least modify the settings to be less restrictive (i.e. prompt for
everything instead of blocking just to find out what Money is trying to
access so that you can tell Zone Alarm to allow it, then you can increase
Zone Alarm's settings once Money has been given the access it needs)

This may *or may not* be related to your problem but I, too, had a problem
connecting to the Internet after a ZA update.

If you can connect to the Internet through a browser but not through Money,
this solution is NOT for you.

Here's what I did to correct it (note that this will lower your security,
but it was the only way I could reconnect to the Internet):

Right click on ZA in the system tray.
Click on Firewall (right below Overview)
Set Internet Zone Security to Med. (was previously set to High)
Leave Trusted Zone Security to Medium.

Exit and retry to connect to the Internet.

There is a conflict with ZoneAlarm and 2 recent Windows update items having
to do with DNS fixes. The fixes are KB951748 and KB951698 which were
released 8 July. Go to forums.zonealarm.com/zonelabs for full information, a
work around and a fix.
