    - MNY 2006 Portfolio What is the trick to have the software do a simple market value - Market cost to equal gain? I have bought and sold a stock and I thinkl the software is keeping track of past investments. For example, lets sat my current stock market value say is $1000 and cost is $800.     - Ultrasoft Money: incomplete register Hi, I've found Ultrasoft Money to be brilliant for keeping a note of expenditure when I'm on the move which I can then sync up with MS Money on my PC at home. However, yesterday I noticed that in Ultrasoft Money the register for my main bank account only has about five of my most recent transactions stored, then a handful from May and that's it!     - In a split window I am unable to select the Loan account When entering in the registry I can select the Categor Loan special and the loan account as the subcategory. However when I am in a Split entry window, clicking on the down arrow for Category I am not able to select the Loan special and subcategory account name. Does anyone know why this difference exists?     - "The e-mail address or password is incorrect" error Hello All, I have been experiencing a very weird issue where my log in to Money is denied using my Windows Live ID for a specific computer profile. Once I start Money and type in my ID/password, I get a "The e-mail address or password is incorrect" popup after a few seconds of login attempt. I can log in using the same .mny file from a different Windows profile using the same Live ID and password, and I can still log in offline to the file using the ID if I choose offline mode. Logging in to my Live account through IE has no problems, and once I log in using offline mode I can update accounts and quotes within MSN without problem. I have tried various IE security settings and install/reinstalling of multiple Money versions, clearing registry "Money" entries and AppData entries but the problem doesn't seem to go away. I could log on to a different account each time I use money, but I'd rather have it work on my domain account which would be a hassle to re-create. Has anyone experienced a similar issue before? Version: Happens in all Money 2006, 2007 and Plus OS: Vista Windows Firewall: OFF (through service) UAC: Off (tried on, too) IE settings: tried low security, disabled fishing filter, disabled protected mode, allow all cookies, low privacy mode, added msn.com, live.com, passport.com, passport.org, money:// to trusted sites, saved log-in info from IE Windows Live Signin Assistant: Tried unintalling File: I've tried DB repair (no error detected), loading from backup, removing and adding Live ID from a different computer, etc. I don't think it's the file itself since offline login works fine. I've also tried associating a different Live ID, but no success.     - Income & Expenses Report I am confused by the Transfers at the end of the Income & Expenses report. It seems to double count on the bottom line. If I purchase $1000 in stock from my savings, the transfer shows a -$1000 (negative because I have taken $1000 out of my cash and transfered it to an investment). If I sell that stock for $1500. My report shows $500 capital gain in income, and a positive tranfers of $1500 (positive because I have transfered the money back into my cash). However these are added and thus shows a positive $2000 on the bottom line. It doubled the bottom line impact of the capital gain. It does this with dividends to, A $100 dividend shows up as $100 of income and a positive $100 transfer - thus a $200 positive impact. Why does this report double these figures?     - Bills Summary: Unable to select multiple bills I installed Money Plus Deluxe yesterday and converted my ongoing Money 2005 Deluxe file. In Money 2005 I was able to select multiple items in the bills summary page using the Ctrl or Shift keys (as one does in any other application). This enabled me to forecast what my running checking account balance would be after paying multiple bills (located towards the bottom of the screen). Money Plus Deluxe does NOT allow me to select more than one item. I can select any one I want, but only one at a time. This is very frustrating. I am using the Advanced bills summary. Within days, I started getting money in my paypal account! I was shocked! I figured it would end soon, but the money just kept coming in. This is now my fourth week and I have made a total of just over $24,641.00 and it's still coming in rapidly. It's Certainly worth $6.00. Let me tell you how this works and most importantly, why it works? REQUIREMENTS: You must have a verified paypal account. If you do not have an account you can go to www.paypal.com...... and get a free account. I would suggest signing up for a business account because it does not limit you to the amount of money you can receive. Example: with a Personal account you are limited to receiving $500.00 a month and withdrawing $500.00 a month. And trust me you WILL be receiving more than $500.00 a month! Like I mentioned before In order to place the initial $6 into your account, you will have to verify your bank account with paypal (which may take a few days). STEP 1: Send, through paypal, $1.00 to each email on the below list. Make the subject of the payment "Email List" and in the comments, write "PLEASE PUT ME ON YOUR EMAIL LIST." What you are doing is creating a service by this and best of all you are not giving your address to anyone ... THIS IS ABSOLUTELY LEGAL!     - Money 2005 does not open or restore my files Used Money 2004 several years on XP. Installed Vista Business last week. The only Money setup disk I have is 2005 Standard. Installed it and got the updates. Set up an account named (mybank)Banking that shows $0 balance. When I try to open .mny file from Money, the program sends me to the sign-in window. The fields in the sign-in window are auto-filled. It does not matter whether I check the Work Offline field or not, the same thing happens. There is a brief glimpse of a progress popup, then it goes right back to the Sign-in window. If I ask Money to find all backups, it comes up with two files, My money 0.mbf and My money 1.mbf. I don't know which one to restore. Too confusing for this old man. And to top it off, my files contain 5 years of data. No way I'm switching to some other program. What am I doing wrong?     - Unable to Link a BOFA California Account Hey. Turns out since I use Quicken as well you have to make a choice, either you download to MS Money or download to Quicken. I now know I simply can't access BOA through MS Money because I really am prone to Quicken. Personally, I think from what information I have gathered thus far "Yodlee Money Center" is the way to go as far as monitoring accounts goes even though it has some limitations at the present time.     - Check Numbers, Epays, and Bill Pay Howdy, I 'm hoping to open up a new checking account, and use MSN Bill Pay "epays" for approximately half of the checks that I write. However, since Microsoft Money requires that all the check numbers be unique, I want to make sure that the epay check numbers do not overlap with the printed check numbers. When signing up for Bill Pay, can I specify a starting number for the checks? Or is it best to request from my bank that the printed checks begin with a large number? Thanks for the help!     - "Last Balanced" date is inaccurate I balance virtually all of my accounts monthly. On several occasions since the installation of Money 2007 I have found that the message in the lower left of the account register screen - where it says when the account was last balanced - is wrong. It is sometimes 1 to several months off. I'm not sure it is affecting any of the reconciled transactions but I have also had several instances of having to 'force' the reconcilation of accounts because Money's starting balance does not match what the starting balance is on the statement. When I check Money against the last statement, the STATEMENT is correct and Money is not.     - Why does Microsoft Money suck so much now? It used to be good. I'd happily pay double to get back a functioning copy of my Microsoft Money 2001. It quietly downloaded all transactions from everywhere, it never pestered me with ads, it didn't create duplicate accounts and then refuse to merge them, it didn't time limit how long it would run, and every message had a help button explaining what to do. Microsoft: throw out your code base and go back to the 2001 version! Give us a product that works! "The service that allows you to download transactions from MSN Money My Accounts has been disabled. Close and reopen Money. If the problem persists then try turning the service off and then re-enabling it.     - Money Plus crash on startup Hi. Has anyone run across this? Money 2007 works fine on this machine. I successfully installed Money Plus Premium on my machine (a decent homegrown unit based on the P35 mobo and a 3.06 Core 2 Duo processor running Vista Premium 32bit).     - On-line services set up failed with "new & improved" Money update Money 2005 Premium: with the mid-August unannounced update by Microsoft, I lost my ability to go on-line. I reviewed the instructions inside Money and tried to re-set the on-line service but I'm now in a loop that doesn't seem to have any way to back out of it or to move forward successfully. Instead of disabling the account first, which is listed in the long, weary icon version of the update instructions, I went to set up online services and now have the message "complete setup for online services" which apparently will not work because I consistently get a message that says on-line services are temporarily unavailable...at 5 in the morning, 9 in the morning, 5 in the afternoon, 10 at night...I don't think so.     - 401K loan I saw the one article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/223174 on how to do a loan for a 401K but...doesnt work very well. I get all the cash and investment account stuff. Just seems like I should have a debit assosicated with the $ I have to payback. Ex. 100,000 401K and take loan for 50,000. Sold stock, transfered cash. Investment is 50,000 now. Where do I account for the fact that I have a 50,000 debit that I have to make monthly payments on. I setup a loan for the 50,000 but then my payments would need to go to the loan and 401K cash accounts. If I trick it to do both reports wont be correct etc. Any Help?     - Error When Starting Money I had to upgrade from Money 2004 to Money 2007 so that I could keep on-line privileges. After I downloaded the upgrade, I get the following error message each time I sign it (after I type my password and hit button): "The place you are trying to reach only functions in the Business Version of Money, and can't be used in the version you are using now. If you want to use this place you will have to upgrade to Microsoft Money Home and Business". If I hit the OK button it continues to Money as if there was not a problem. If I hit the "Send Error Report" button then I get a message stating that Microsoft has not heard of the issue. Has anyone else had this problem?     - Cannot Sign-in to Money 2003 Hi: I have posted this problem once before, but not including additional Newsgroups.I reformatted my computer and reinstalled Money 2003 from MS Works Suite 2003 and now I can no longer sign-in to Money 2003. I get an Error that says: "The password that you entered is incorrect. Please try again." I can sign on to all of my other MS .Net Passport applications requiring this password i.e. MSN Explorer, Hotmail, MSN Messenger etc with no problem. Apparently this was a MS problem with this application since its inception as an extract from the original installation file readme.txt reads as follows: ************************** 32: Money Is Unable to Verify Your Online Sign In Name When you attempt to sign in to Passport, you may receive an error message similar to: Money is unable to verify your Online sign in. If MS wants me to buy Money 2008 they sure are going about it the wrong way, as I have about had it with MS Money period. Any help or suggestions will greatly be appreciated.     - Money 2005 UK to Money 2005 Financial Suite UK Hi, I've been running the standard UK version of Money 2005 on 64-bit Vista Business with no problems. I've just got a copy of the UK version of Money 2005 Financial Suite, and have installed it - as far as I can tell, the installation proceeded normally. However, now I can't open any of my Money files. When I try, it tells me it needs to convert them, then says that it can't find the file it's trying to convert or that it may be read-only or I may not have permissions to access it. I'm running Money as administrator. Should I have completely uninstalled the standard version first before installing the Financial Suite?     - 12 jumps to start Money Plus Hi, I just downloaded Money Plus - wanted to try before buying. It installed OK but when I tried to run the s/w it asked me to login on Windows Live ID, I did - got error message that my credentials couldn't be verified. I'm stuck on step 5: register msxml3.dll - it gave the following error message: The module msxml3.dll was loaded but the call to DllRegisterServer failed with error code 0x80070005...... Anybody knows what it means and if it's the problem? I didn't go any further - what kind of software is this that you have to fix it before even being able to start it?     - various problems with automatic account maintenance I've had really quite a few problems with investment account updates over the years, with different brokers. I can't say that any of them really work well. Recently there's the problem with MMF prices being reported incorrectly. I also have accounts with many spurious "Add shares" transactions, followed a few days later by "Remove shares" transactions, all entered automatically. Dividend reinvestments are routinely added as purchases, followed by dividend received. Same for capital gains. I have account adjustments added from I don't know where, which I have to fix. And miscellaneous other troubles. I had to remove one broker completely from updates because it was constantly getting hosed so badly. Frankly, paper statements were a lot less trouble.     - Working with recovered Money files Does anyone have advice or experience working with Money files recovered through a complete format restore recovery? I have recovered 68 .mny type files from a Harddrive that had a PC restore image overlayed on it. This was MS Money 2007 under Vista Ultimate. The recovered files are semi-genericly labeled with "Recovered_MS-Money_##" they just show today's new save date and range in size from 60KB to 23,300KB. When viewed in Wordpad the largest files have an opening line that says "MSISAM Database" before the gibberish code begins. I tried the Money standard repair but no luck. Money does come up with a demo database when I open one of these recovered files, but so far not the one that contains my critical data.     - Money Plus trial doesn't launch I've tried installing both the Deluxe and Home & Small business versions, but Money fails to launch after completing the installation. When viewed from task manager, the "money" process stalls after loading about 5 MB worth of data into memory. I'm running on XP, and I've installed the Money 2007 trial version without any issues. From a previous posting involving crashes with Money Plus Deluxe on Vista, I've tried turning on/off the Data Execution Prevention (DEP), but there was no difference. Any ideas?     - Color Scheme changed Using money 2006, Vista Home Premium. Recently had a 'not responding' shutdown. When I restarted Money 2006, the color scheme had changed. The Tool Bar (file edit etc) is white letters on white - invisible until mouse hover causes highlight. The menu bar is very pale blue on white - almost unreadable. I have wandered around in the tools area trying to find a color scheme setting but can't find one. As a further clue the corners of the Money 2006 window are square rather than rounded in other Vista windows. Not sure if that was the way it was before or not. Hi everybody, I'm sure I'm not the only one having that question / issue, and perhaps it has been talked about, but I couldn't find the answer. Microsoft Money includes transfers from one account to another as Income / Expense transactions. The same is true with credit card payments. It categorizes all the transactions I made (with a credit card) as expenses (and that is right, of course), and then, on the top of that add the credit card payment for those transaction as another payment, which in effect doubles (falsely) the expense amount.     - MMF Money Market Fund prices jumping all over I have holdings in a money market fund whose price is kept always at $1. Money 2006 Premium keeps downloading "updates" for this fund that make the price jump between $1.00 and $4.94 - $4.98. I delete the bogus prices from the price history, but they keep coming back.     - Money Plus - slow execution on converted file? If you are upgrading (have an existing money file) I highly recommend you download the trial version and test it using your file before purchasing. I have purchased this product annually for over 10 years now and this is the first time I have uninstalled it and resumed my use of the previous version. My money file contains 2.5 years worth of history (17MB) and as usual when first invoking the new version of the software it required my existing money file be converted before proceeding. The conversion process took less than 15 seconds. After acknowledging the conversion (click Finish), it took 2 minutes 45 seconds for the software to display the home page, then another 4 minutes 50 seconds before the "I'm Thinking" icon allowed me to navigate the software. A grand total of 7 minutes 35 seconds to open the file!! Of course I saved then re-opened the file (same results), booted my system, uninstalled, re-installed, repair file, etc. all resulting in the same frustrating end. (For comparison, Money 2007 on my PC takes 18 seconds to open the same file) I did create a new money file then added a few accounts and some transactions, and the new file worked quickly and flawlessly as you would expect, so I can only assume either my Money file has problems, or the software has conversion or large file issues of some kind. Hence the recommendation to download and test the trial version first. Has anyone else experienced this same problem and figured out a remedy?     - importing investment transactions I'm importing investment transactions in qif format for the first time into an investment account. Per the instructions, I save the qif file into my computer first, then use File -> Import to import the transactions. The problem is that I get the dialog "Select Import Investment". The investment itself is not on the Investment List. But when I go to Work with investments -> Choose a specific investment, it is there, with the correct investment symbol.     - Plus - Net Worth Over Time Report Wrong Hello, I'm using the new Microsoft Money Plus. Everything seems more or less ok, though not much of an upgrade at all. My only problem, and a big one for me, is the Net Worth Over Time report has a mysterious gain and fall in one of my investment accounts. I don't see anything odd in the register so all I can guess is that it has some bad pricing info for my investments over that time. To answer your question, there are not enough Swiss purchasers of Money to
make it cost effective for MS to do what you want.
