    - State Bank & Trust (Fargo, ND) Hello I would like to suggest that Moeny offer direct online integration with State Bank & Trust Located in Fargo, ND. Microsoft has a development and call center in Fargo so if for no other reason there are several hundred customers / employees that would benefit from the addition of this finacial instituion. Also Quicken offers this direct web-base integration. Currently we have to use the download feature which is a pain and I am seriously thinking of switching to Quicken just to get this functionality. I much prefer using Money and would like to stay with it, but if it doesn't start offer the direct online banking solution for State Bank & Trust in Fargo, ND I will have to go to the dark side and start using Quicken. Could someone provide us with the timeframe for adding new financial institutions to Money's list of supported ones?     - Changing cost basis of reconciled transactions I've been managing a trust in MS Money 2004 and it recently became an estate with the death of the trust's originator. Under U.S. estate law, the cost basis of securities gets stepped up to their respective values at date of death or six months after date of death. The problem I'm facing in MS Money is that if I try to change the cost basis of the securities purchased prior to the date of death that have already been reconciled -- most of the transactions -- the reconciled balances for the account get totally clobbered. What I wish MS had done to handle this situation is allow cost basis to diverge from purchase price -- i.e., by providing two separate data fields, with cost basis defaulting to purchase price under normal circumstances but being modifiable in the case of cost-basis step-up. (Even better would be a software module that would semi-automate this, by changing the cost basis for all transactions for a given security prior to the step-up date, based on the step-up price.) To get to the point, is there anyway I can use Money 2004 to change the cost basis without kaboshing the reconciled balances, and if Money 2004 can't do this, is there affordable software that can and also accurately import Money 2004 data?     - Follow up to july23 manual download query on july 23 asked: After July 19th update bank account institution no longer listed. Followed instuctions for update to work for Money 2007 with this and other accounts other institutions that did not show password text box. Since the one bank was no longer listed tried to manually download statement from using OFX file. File downloaded and text box appeared as usual stating file import complete, but file did not update in account register and no register review shown on money home page. Repeated several times with no success. Other accounts with institution listed by Money work properly and have corrected account registered. After trying all corrections from news group and money support still unable to download usuing OFX but found I can download using QIF format but it is messy since have to limit dates or have whole months worth data to correlate and accept so duplications are eliminated.     - Money Update=Time for Quicken Wow... What a mess -- it's not nice to mess with customers financial records. A disruption like this drives customers away, in droves. There is a light at the end of the tunnel -- it's Quicken. The recent update prompted me to give it a try, and it's actually quite nice -- much better than a few versions back when I tried it. Love the way it 'direct-connects' to my B of A (CA) checking account; complete with integrated billpay. With Money, it just downloads transactions, apparently via Yodlee. Money doesn't integrate with B of A billpay either, which is actually CheckFree, same as MSN Billpay. Quicken's not perfect though, it has those same interruptions with non-direct transaction downloading that we've all become so familiar with using Money. They don't use Yodlee, but something called Express Web Connect -- it goes down sometimes. My B of A Direct-Connect just keeps on ticking though, regardless of the Express Web Connect outages. An added bonus: Pocket Quicken for Windows Mobile devices; both Pocket PC's and the just-released Smartphone version. The latter works like a charm on my T-Mobile Dash -- it's great to have mobility back with my financial software -- could never understand why Microsoft took this away...     - Money shuts down immediately when Etrade online update When I start online update for an Etrade account (investment) for quotes and statements MSMoney 2007 immediately shows the window "Update in progress" and shuts down with an option to send an error message to Microsoft. Only once ago (July 24), it has functioned normally, so the login information must be correct.     - Skipping A-pay bug Has anyone discovered a cause/fix for the skipping a-pay bug? For those of you not familiar with it, the symptoms are: - A monthly apay is setup in bills and deposits (First payment Jan 07) - After the first payment (on Jan 07) the next payment in bills and deposits shows the next due date two months out (Mar 07) - A month after the first payment, the bank actually process the second monthly payment as scheduled (on Feb 07) - The next payment now shows FOUR months out (Jun 07) Somehow B&D gets confused and appears to "double book" both its entry and the banks downloaded entry, although only one payment is made each month. The good news is that payments go out monthly as expected - i.e. the bank's systems don't have a problem.     - Money shuts down when adding an investment account I'm trying to add an investment account through Wells Fargo Investment LLC. When I select the bank and add my user name and password it tells me my password needs to be eight charecters. Which is not true since I log on and my password is less than eight. So, try to set it up manully under "My bank brokerage is not listed" choose retirement account and name it and hit OK and Money shuts down automatically.     - Money Shuts down immediately after open Hi, I am currently using Money 2004. Money was working fine up until last night. The only change I have done is backup up all my files (Money files included) to an external hard drive. At this time I noticed a Money file with a .lrd extension that was on my backup drive but not on my main drive (so I deleted it, would appear to be a mistake!!). Now if I open my .mbf file, Money opens, asks me to restore, asks for my password for my file (which I enter), and then opens with my data for the briefest of time and then the program shuts down, does not freeze, just disappears. If I then try to open the newly created .mny file it does the same thing, asks for my password (which I enter), Money then opens with my data for the briefest of time and then the program shuts down. I have tried opening Money and creating a new file. Then from within Money open and either restore or repair the old files, but I get the same result or it will open and just freeze. Help.     - Web Browsing on my Ameritrade Really like the Money 2007 interface, tightly integrating the browser is a great way to integrate all the other online accounts and services. I've set up all my financial browser links and don't even bother opening the browser when I'm checking potential investments. Direct access to my bank server is so much better than the old download method. Ahead of its time IMHO. Couple of observations/ questions If anyone know someone connected with the software, I'd like to pass along a suggestion to see easier access to web favorites. Right now its a 3 click process to access a web link, it would be nice to have more direct access. There is another problem, when I visit my ameritrade account and try to start (what I believe to be) a java application (for stock streaming). The java window opens and prompts me to re-enter my ameritrade account name and password. Opon doing this it simply re-directs me to the home page of the account and never starts the streamer.     - Problems after Online Banking Update After the recent online banking update, I am unable to use several of my accounts with online banking. As instructed after the update, I disabled online services to several accounts and then tried to set them up again. Alas, but many accounts that used to be available are now gone! My primary bank accounts (at Bank of America Military Bank), as well as Dell Financial Services, and Best Buy don't even show up anymore! I can't re-enable online services to these accounts because they no longer appear in the institution list during setup. Is MS Money working on the issue, or did they just arbitrarily stop offering online services with several major institutions? Does anyone have any suggestions? A few months ago my payments started showing up in my register up to one week earlier in dates and dont fix untill the payment posts on the day I actually set it up to pay. Then re-setup and re-downloaded the current data. After doing this, without any warning, I learn mid merge that my re-downloaded account and my previous updated account will only be merged for the beginning of JULY. (the current month) YIKES!     - Which credit card gives the best rewards ? Which credit card gives the best rewards ? I have had a Capital One (US) visa card for many years. I always pay my visa bill on time. I am fed up of them. In the last 2 months they have stopped 6 transactions. When I call them they claim they suspected a fraudulent person was using the card. Bank of America technical support is telling me that they don't have any automatic synchronization capability between their online banking and Microsoft Money. They support downloading a CSV file, but since this is for my parents, I'm sure it would never happen in a million years. They are far too computer challenged to do that, and it's a hassle anyway.     - money 2007 - no portfolio views after upgrade from 2006 Hi. I read the exchange that MVPs had with wurth51 ("Subject: Money 2007 portfolio problem with showing " 6/18 & 6/19. I am having the same problem. I followed all the steps you provided but have not made any process. SSl2.0 is on, I reset my internet options, I blew away my IE Temp files. When I click portfolio, I get no columns or rows. Nor are there any commands available/visibe on the left side of the portfolio screen. I can look at individual accounts via the accounts menu, and see my holding accurately reported, but can not look at an account summary. I'm running XP and have verified that I do have Money's SP2. choose the CDR route, undo the read-only attribute. That extra chore
does not occur if you use the flash drive, so that is easier.
