    - 2007 Budget Problem with "Expenses overr budgeted limits" I have an epay Bill for Natural Gas, in my budget I allocate $70 for category. I put nothing in the "Other Expenses for 'Bills : Natural Gas' " When I go back to my bugdet "Bills : Natural Gas" shows up in the "Expenses over budgeted limits" This bill was paid on 11/7 for 48.08 but the budgeted column shows $0.     - Total Account Value I am a first time user of MM 2007 and dowloaded my account info (for this calendar year) form my broker. Total Account Value seems to reflect the total value of the account minus the cost basis. This seems a bit strange, an account with a Market Value of $5706.5, a Cash basis of $5299.84 is isted as having a Total Account Value of $406.66.     - Pay To List How do I delete some of the names in my "Pay To" list (the "pay to" list that is used when making entries into your accounts)? I deleted a large amount in the payees list but they still show when selecting "pay to" when creating a new account entry. I tried the FAQ page and online help and couldnâ??t find anything. Thanks!     - Download to CSV There is one Institution setup which only provides background banking but not background banking for mortgages. For mortgages it only provides a download option via Excel into CSV. Money shows that it 'is not setup for background banking'. I downloaded the file but I dont know how to import the items to Money. Alternatively, how do I change the Mortgage account so that I can pull in the Mortgage instalments from the Cheque Account.     - Incorrect balances when viewing only unreconciled transactions I have the Canadian version of MSM2005 and it recently messed up my primary account. After importing my daily transactions, it encountered an error and restarted. After restarting, when I view my primary chequing account with all transactions visible, the correct final balance is displayed, however, when I view the account with only unreconciled transactions, the final balance is significantly incorrect. The incorrect balance is appearing in the account summary screen, but the correct balance is being used for all cash flow and bill payment functions.     - Deleted Investments on Reports Why do investments that I have long ago sold off still continue to appear on monthly or custom reports, or on the default home page summary statistics? Is there a way to configure Money to not report on investments I no longer have? I know they can be deleted from my portfolio, but then they won't appear on historical performance reports.     - Money 07 SP1 still has a bug. SP 1 did not fix the back up bug. If you have chosen to be prompted to Back Up before Money closes then choose File > Close The "Back Up When Money Closes" window opens. You're given the button options of "Settings...", "Back Up Now" and "Postpone". Each being self explanatory. However, if you change your mind about closing Money, clicking the red "X" in the upper right hand corner of the window, closes Money as if you chose the "Postpone" button instead of just closing the window and letting you return to using Money.     - Issues when Generating Monthly Report Good morning folks, I come to you with an issue that has me stumped. When I clicked on the "Report for October is available" link, I got a little popup where it was generating the report. One of the things the popup said was "Reviewing your account for potential problems" Then Microsoft Money (I am using 2007) hung. I can see in Task Manager it's using CPU and growing in memory, but I let it run for maybe 20 minutes and it was still hung. The application had to be killed. I went to the reports area to click on reports for other months. I saw that the April 2006 report and everything older, works. May 2007 and forward has the same problem as October, above. So I am thinking there's something wrong w. May's data that's screwing it up forward? But not sure what to look for. Also, I am sure I had previously seen the May report, and ones between May and October, but it was probably using money 2006. Any clue? Thanks in advance!     - Could use some help after crash My computer crashed (turned out to be my mother board) and I have numerous back ups (.mny) (from cd and floppy) that I've tried to install on my new computer and every one of them want's a password. One of my files did have a password and I know FOR SURE i'm entering the right one and its still not working. I've tried installing to Money 2000 (the original one i had) and 2006 which the new computer has. Neither seems to work at all.     - Money 2005 Keeps Locking Up When I go into account ledger sheets I can open my Money homepage which has my listed accounts and balances. When I click on any of the accounts to go into the ledger screen my computer immediately locks up. There is the money header on the screen but the ledger portion is empty. The computer immediately "locks up" and the mouse freezes. I try a soft boot with task manager and that function even locks up. I eventually have to do a "hard" shut down every time. I have tried using the system restore function in Windows XP to a prior point when the Money program was working correctly and that did not help. I also tried uninstalling money and then reinstalling it and that has not helped. The account list and correct balances show on the first page when I open Money but the problem starts whenever I click on any account.     - MSM07 - Online payment "?" status I've got an online payment in my register marked with a red question mark and an envelope. The transaction is a payment initiated from MSM to my bank's online bill payment service. The payment has prcessed and MSM has matched the banks transaction with this one and it has an "E" in the cleared column.. My account online shows the payment and it has been processed successfully.     - How do you input savings transfers from checking to savings? I'll probably find out that this was somethgin simple all along but: How do you categorize transfers from Checking to Savings, if you automatically download all of your transactions from your bank? I have $100 automatically transfer from my checking account to savings, every friday. In effect, paying myself about $400 a month that just gets put away. I don't follow whether that should be counted as Income or Expense. What type? Is it an expense from checking and treated as income in Savings? Similarly, I'm enrolled in the Band of America "Keep the Change" program. Basically, any time I use my debit card to pay for something, the change rounded up to the nearest dollar gets transfered from my checking account to my savings (similar to the automatic transfer I have scheduled). Any help anyone could offer would be greatly appreciated as I've only been baffled by the MS Money Help and haven't been a whole lot more successful with google.     - MONEY 2007 TRIAL More Service Pack 1 Issues - Internal Browser Fai I can see from other threads that the MONEY 2007 SERVICE PACK 1 may have introduced more problems than it fixed... In my case following the Service Pack 1 installation MONEY 2007 will no longer connect directly to an institution's web site with it's internal browser - you can force it to use an external browser, however all attempts to browse within MONEY 2007 result in the old 'This program cannot display the webpage' page... I further suspect that MONEY 2007 may not even be able to update itself properly following SP1 - as it appears to be a connections or connection recognition problem. My own investigations confirm that this isn't a Windows firewall or third party application issue... What does the green down arrow mean next to the name of the "Receive From" name? and what does the up red arrow mean under the Expenses? 2. Why is there row underneath the above heading called "Other Income for "Wages& Salary"? The amount in this row is 0. This is happening for every Payslip entry I have entered in the Payslip. 3.     - Microsoft Money 2007 SP1 -- I reverted back to the original (before SP1) When I opened MS Money Premium 2007 today I was informed that the update was available and so I let it get installed. Then when I opened the program again after the install, some of the calculations were all messed up and so I did a System Restore and went back to using the original installed version of MS Money Premium 2007. Here is a description of what was my problem.... Anyone else having this problem -- or am I doing something wrong? I opened my checkbook account and entered a transaction for a car loan payment. I entered the normal payee name and it was auto entered as usual, then I hit TAB. Previously this would result in the program auto-entering the rest of the information for the transaction. In this case it did not. So I manually entered the loan payment amount, selected category = Loan Payment and subcategory = the loan account. But the transaction showed twice the dollar amount that I had entered, and it was shown as an uncategorized amount. Apparently positive entries were being entered as negative numbers and negative numbers were entered as positive -- or something else weird was going on. Anyway, I couldn't figure out any way to get the program to enter the information the way it was being entered previously. I tried entering it several times, and tried restarting the program. Nothing made any difference. I was trying to make a $400 payment, and the numbers I entered added up to $400, but at the bottom of the Split screen it showed $800 and said it was uncategorized, even though I had entered categories for each of the principal and the interest lines. The bugs in the original release were not bugging me as badly as this is. To me this is serious, and it is something that will be happening all the time. So I just backed out the install and am using the original release. Maybe I did something incorrect.     - How to know monthly amount for debt planner and cash flow forecast Here is the question: Hopefully I can make this make sense..... When you use the debt planner to include debt such as credit cards, loans, etc, then you get to the page for "Define your payment plan" in the section at the top where you can either enter in the date you want to be out of debt or the amount you want to pay each month, how can you know how much you can afford to pay? If there were a snapshot of say the cash flow chart, and as you moved the slider representing either the date to be out of debt or the monthly payment amount, you could dial it in to wherever you wanted your cash flow to be. As it is, I don't really see anything other than taking a "SWAG" at a monthly figure or date, then going through the setting up the recurring monthly pymts so as to follow the debt plan, then go to the cash flow to see if I can live with where the floor of the cash flow may end up at.     - 2007 default year instead of 2006 In past versions of MS Money, typing 11/10 as the date became 11/10/2006 when I navigated to the next entry, as it should, using the default current year of 2006. Since I installed Money 2006, the date instead becomes 11/10/2007, even though my system year is 2006 and all other programs recognize the current year as 2006. It's a pain to have to type 11/10/6 to get the right date. I've checked every Money option and searched online, but I've not found the right option or anybody else reporting this problem.     - Online Trading Stocks I have Microsoft Money Deluxe 2007 and I am currently starting a new STock Portfolio and was wondering if Money has the capability for online trading since it seems to be able to track stock symbols and such of that nature.     - Not able to import multiple Fidelity accounts I have two Fidelity accounts, a brokerage and an Educational Account. When I try to set up these accounts in Money 2006, none of the Education Account information is imported. Money 2006 sets up the two accounts, but there is no balance or transaction history for the Educational Account. It seems as though Money sees there is an account but is not able to access anything.     - Employee Share Option Account corruption MS Money 2002 Financial Suite version 10.0 (UK) I am encountering regular corruption of my Money file, and is not cured by the salvage utilities. I have isolated the corruption to one particular account: an investment account used for tracking employee share options. The corruption can only be removed by manually recreating the complete account. Voiding specific transactions has no effect, even if all transactions are voided! The corruption only shows up when I run a Monthly Report. The account is fed from my current account, via components of a Payslip transaction, which are Transfers to the cash account part of the investment account. I am fed up with having to regularly recreate this account, which now contains many transactions. Is this bug known to anyone? Has it been cured by later versions possibly? I've been reluctant to upgrade from Money 2002 FS to-date as I've read later versions are no better and may even be functionally retrograde to my current version. Any advice gratefully received.     - Net Worth Over Time report in Money 2007 I've been a Money user for years now and just now upgraded to 2007, mainly to fix my file by removing the bills. Anyhow, when I display the Net Worth Over Time report for next year, the report produced shows my current worth as my worth for any future dates -- it does't take my budget and recurring bills into account unlike the Forecast Cash Flow display. Maybe I am mistaken, but has this been the way this always worked? I could have sworn this report used to take bills,etc, into consideration.     - Clearing Bank Balance Hello, is there a way to clear the Bank Balance column on an account in Money 2007? I downloaded an OFX document from the bank's web page that included the bank balance which Money now displays on the accounts page. Later I decided I will rather enter the transactions manually for other reasons, but Money insists of keeping the now out-of-date and incorrect Bank Balance. Basically, I am looking to clear the Bank Balance as if I never downloaded any transactions for that account. Is there a way to do that?     - Connecting to the Internet IWhen I opened Money 2007 it informed me that it needed to install an update. So I followed the direction and it appeared the update installed correctly. However, since installing the update Money has not been able to connect to the internet. When I enter mi Windows Live ID I get the following error: "You must be connected to the internet to sign in online."     - Silly, but still... I'm bugged that I can't have a Home/My Money shortuct. They've got nifty shortcuts for many other places except for the "home page." Yes, I can click the tab, but then I can do that for every other shortcut. I sent a couple e-mails to Microsoft one or two versions ago and recently hoping that I could do it.     - Two bugs fixed with SP1 It seems as if two bugs that affected me have been fixed with SP1. 1. Net Worth reports now give correct balance for the date for cash accounts. 2. Citibank Virtual Account Number program no longer causes M2007 to crash when using lifetime planner or when transmitting electronic payments to CheckFree. I wonder if they've introduced new bugs?     - Money needs update I started Money 2007 this evening to get some expenses caught up and a dialog box popped up saying that in order for Money to continue working properly, an update was required. I clicked OK and it looked like a download started followed by an install that went only part way. Another dialog popped up saying that the installation could not close Money (even though Money had disappeared from view) and I needed to restart Money to complete the installation. I did this and a dialog popped up saying that in order for Money to keep working properly, an updated was required. I clicked OK. Then I got an error dialog saying that the installation had already been begun and Money needed to be shut down and restarted for the installation to complete. Repeat the above several times. Yes, Virginia, a complete power-down of the computer (Gateway 700XL running WinXP Pro) and restart was tried with the same result as given above. Eventually, to gain access to Money, I clicked Cancel when the update required dialog popped up. I then made sure I had several copies of the updated .mny file on various media. What is going on here? Is Microsoft continuing to prove they don't know how to write software? Is this dialog going to keep popping up forever?     - Recurring bills I used the recurring bills feature in my first budget in 2002. Now every year when I create and edit my budget it continues to ask if I want to edit a recurring bill (and the 2002 amount) or list an additional amount. Is this a bug in the software?     - Watch Accounts I've set up a watch account to use as a model for an investing strategy I'd like to try. In doing so, I want to be able to track theoretical purchases and sales of individual stocks. I want to track sales and realized gains on my Account Summary window, so I've customized my view to do that. After entering a purchase, the stock shows up just fine on my account summary, but after I sell all shares, it no longer shows up so I'm not able to track realized gains.     - Essentials log in Hi guys can someone help me , please? I am having trouble logging on to Money Essentials. It will sometimes log on fine no problems but most often will not which I cant figure out because of the intermittent problem. I can log on to my banks site(Capital One) with no problems every.     - Category filled in on downloads I noticed this a week or two ago and like it. Can someone tell me how it chooses ( guesses) the categories as it's a bit scary that "they " ( the retailers, Microsoft - and now you ! ) know that I went to Best Buy this weekend and bought movies i.e. the category was filled in as hobby-leisure and when I clicked the drop-down movies was an option for me. Are the categories ( a lot more now than a few weeks ago) a feature of the online download or did they "update" the Money database on my PC to include these new categories ? One more thing ... reporting -wise will the new categories merge with the old ones. For instance, when I fillup my car at "Gulf" , the category used to be Auto-Fuel - now the downloaded category showed as "Automobile - Gasoline". So must I change all the old info to new new format or chnage the downloaded info to match "Auto-Fuel " ? as an example -I know I could figure it out but if they're all gonna download a bit differently than they have it make mess a report a mess with lotd of duplications ( in which case I'll chnage the new name to the old ) Bobb Tag: A good website about money saving Tag: 215938

    - Manage online services question Hi Q1. How do I remove an account from under " Financial institutions not setup for background online services" heading? It is an old account which I do not use anymore. Q2. Under "Financial institutions that have no background services", there are a list of Financial Institutions. How do I amend the Financial Institutions in this list? The reason I ask is that one Institution has 'File Import' marked as a Service. But I don't understand why I have another Institution NOT marked as 'File Import', even though I do import a file into Money, and that Institution is listed under "Financial institutions not setup for background online services".
