Tonight when I opened my Money 2003 to update as I do on a regular basis, I
got the following message: "Money's Converter wizard for Quicken does not
support this version of Quicken. To convert your Quicken file, open it first
in Quicken for Windows version..... and then open Money. Click OK which I
did. I do not have any Quicken software on my computer so this message was
amazing.

Then after clicking OK, I got "Money can't locate .....My Money or cannot
open it, possibly becaure is is a read-only.....etc. If you have chosen the
correct file.....you will need to click Ok and open your most recent backup
file. Click OK."

The backup file on the HDD does not exist, I am told. However, I always
backup as well to a floppy. Hence, I could restore from a backup dated April
14 so really nothing was lost.

The fact that My money.mny file seems to have disappeared from the HDD as
well as the backup file worries me. Have I been attacked by a hacker or ? I
am on ADSL so am always on line. All the other folders and files seem to be
all in order.

This same thing happened to me about 4 years ago.

Any thoughts or advice would be most appreciated. Perhaps I should keep all
.mny files on a floppy or CD? Fortunately, there are no account numbers or
passwords which can be used - but it is of concern.
My operating software is Windows XP PRofessional.

Norm.

I have not seen or heard of what you describe-- having the .mny file
disappear.

However I would suggest keeping a backup or so on USB flash drive,
and copying your backup to a CDR every 2 to 4 weeks. Use a different
name each time, or put the backups in different folders on the CDR.
