    - Current Balance, Ending Balance I picked up MSMoney 2004 and installed on my system. I'm leaving Quicken 200 behind. it was an okay package, but I didn't like some of the logic involved in the interface. MSMoney did a spectacular job of converting my Qdata file. no discrepancies at all. My one big complaint, though, is I cannot view my current balance and ending balance for all my accounts in my Favorites listing. I pay ahead in my check register due to scheduled online payments. So, my balance today is going to be different than my balance next week. At least Quicken 2000 showed me this information side by side. Is there any way I can do this in MSMoney 2004?     - Mortgage Wizard Interest Calculations. On setting up a mortgage account using the mortage wizard, the program insists on calculating interest on a monthly basis, rather than the daily basis by which most banks operate. I can find no way to over-ride this manually. I am still using Money 2001 but it appears to be the same in later versions. Any help would be appreciated.     - Money 2003 Having problems with automatic import of OFX files from my Credit Union "UNFCU". I can manually import the file, however, there use to be a time whenever I downloaded the OFX file, MS Money would start or if already open, import the downloaded file automatically.     - Pre-2004 Money Is Probably Dead For those of you waiting for MSFT to "fix" the problem it has created with Money 2002, you are likely out of luck. 99% of Money 2002 users got it as a "FREE DEMO VERSION" which came with their computers. It is highly unlikely that MSFT plans to offer any way to reactivate the product, since they shut it down. Do you REALLY think this was an accident? Not. My adivice...buy Quicken. Or anything else that doesn't come from MSFT. I found a truly free (freeware) product called Ace Money Lite that I plan to use. Of course I only need checkbook record and statement balancing features. For those of you who have complicated financial needs Quicken is still probably the best choice. Most of the help comes from other users. But, Quicken has its own set of problems. Years ago I switched from Quicken to Money because Intuit left me "high and dry" without support. How, I have changed HD's on the same machine, using the same OS, and I have to go through the Compatibility Wizard to get it to work. Why is that?     - Current Balance Problems To whomever can help a guy out... Current Version: MS Money Premium 2004 (V12, update 1) First problem..just happened tonight. When I am in one of my checking accounts, it shows the accurate balance that matches up with the online bank version. However when I switch to 'Account List' view; the balance shown for this account is off by almost $500... All other accounts are fine. Just this one. Second problem..been around for awhile..The 'Downloaded Balance' in the upper left hand corner reflects the balance that was downloaded on 6-1-2003 and has never updated or changed since that date. Can someone help to 'reset' that or remove it altogether? I have tried both the quick repair and the standard repair options to no avial. Any help and or guidance is much appreciated. PS.     - Downloaded statements do not appear in account Hi! I have Money 2003 installed on my Compaq Presario. This came pre-loaded. When I download a bank statement on to my computer and then double click it, money asks which account to update. On assigning the account the accounts window shows x number of transactions pending. However, on opening the account, I cannot see the new transactions. I looked at the knowledge base site Q327899 and it advised to reinstall Money since it is likely to be a corrupted file. However, since my Money program came pre-loaded I dont know how to go about this. Can you please guide me or show me another way to rectify the situation?     - Money 2004 Premium crashes when clicking on Portfolio Whenever I try to enter my portfolio, Money 2004 crashes with a "send info to Microsoft"/Dr. Watson type error. It was working fine several days ago, the last time I tried to get in. A standard file repair had no effect. I did a search and found posts from others who have had this problem, but it looks like all of them were synching their data with the web and turning synching off fixed it for them. I, however, am not and have never synched in this fashion. When I import the transactions into Money, it always consider the Money Market fund to be an "Investment" while in reality it is the equivalent "cash" portion of the Vanguard mutual fund.     - Improvements in 2004? I am running MS Money 2002 and I'm considering upgrading to MS Money 2004 or making the painful decision of going back to Quicken (which I used up to 1997). Here is my question. Does 2004 have better reporting and analysis tools than 2002? For example, I love the monthly reports MS Money delivers each month, but I want those same reports going back years, not just a month. Does the upgrade to 2004 add that ability? Quicken provides a chart that shows a bar chart with assests in dollars for each past month, while upside bars show the debt for each month, and then plots a line that shows net worth. I LOVE THAT CHART. Does MS Money 2004 have that ability? Is anyone using any advance tools or found a good resource for getting reports and graphs out of MS Money? Does anyone know why MS Money produces such limited reports? Is Microsoft just not serious about MS Money as a viable product, or is there some patent that prevents them from providing what Quicken has been providing for years? Lastly, are there any database improvements in MS Money 2004. I purchased a new ThinkPad A31 with a P4m 2.0GHz with 512MB, but MS Money is still painfully slow.     - 2004 - after import, transactions to read don't appear Microsoft Money 2004 Windows XP Professional (fully service packed) After importing transactions from my bank, I click "OK", it goes to the account list with transactions to read in parenthesis, I click on an account and it "has encountered a problem and needs to close." When I reopen Money the transactions are not in any of my accounts, but are still listed as "to be read". I have changed the view between "all transactions" and "unaccepted transactions" and nothing helps. They seem to have been lost in limbo. If I go and import the same file again nothing happens.     - Money 2002 crashes on monthly reports Just recently my Money 2002 has started to crash whenever I invoke montly reports for specific months. Some of those months have worked before. IF you want to get categories that have been used in transactions, probably
the best way is to use MoneyLink to pull all transactions for all dates for
all accounts into Excel. From there, simple spreadsheet manipulation can get
you there along these lines:

1) Copy the category/subcategory columns to a new sheet.
2) Sort the entries on Category and Subcategory.
3) Create a formula to only show the Category/Subcategory if it's not what's
in the next row.
4) Copy the unique resultant column(s).
5) Paste Special|Values this to a new column.
7) Sort it again on these values to get the entries at one end and the
blanks at the other.
8) Select the entries. Done.
