Just upgraded from trial to retail version via download (XP is OS) and the
core program seems to be working ok. When I sign in, Money tells me that is
is going to download in the background additional features, and I can use the
core features fine, but there's never any progress in downloading the others
(it always says 1% complete). I tried using a different admin and setting up
a dummy file, but the same thing happens in that file. Suggestions?

1) Skip M05 if you can. See http://umpmfaq.info/Money2005.htm for why I did.

2) Buy a CD like normal folk. Life is easier that way.

OK--let's assume I'm a glutton and have purchased M05 and don't want to go
through the hassle of returning. Anyone else with ideas?

In IE6, start with
Tools->Options->Security->LocalIntranet->DefaultLevel which may be
sufficient.

If that does not let you updated, and if you are using XP, I would
try creating a new user with Administrator privilege. Switch to
that user and start Money with a new blank file. Let Money
download the updates as that user.

The theory is that if the problem is an IE6 setting, you will get
default settings for the new user. If you succeed this way, it
would accomplish the download, and it would point toward the reason
the other did not work. You can delete the new user later, and
your regular IE6 settings will not have been changed.
