Just upgraded to M2005 deluxe. I've got years of Money data and M2004 and
prior versions have been brutally slow. Unbelievably and contrary to what
has been reported so far, M2005 is way faster than any prior version. Still
too slow but much better. M2005 also fixed a hidden transaction problem
created by M2004. Nice.

Only problem I'm having is that it doesn't download my Schwab and AMEX
statements once daily at startup. Those banks are set to update every day. I
deselected the option to have to do the download at startup. This is exactly
how it was setup in M2004. I only want one download per day so I don't want
the download to occur every time I start Money. However, in M2004, it would
do the download immediately upon the first startup of the day and in M2005,
it doesn't and I'm not sure when it intends to do so.

How do I get Money to download the transactions once per day immediately
upon the first startup?

M2005: No download at startup (BTW, I Like M2005) by Greg

Greg

I've been having the same issue, although in the
reverse... I do want money to download every time I open.
But it doesn't even when the box is checked. I think I
may have figured out a pattern though... once a day means
once every 24 hours. So if you open your file 1 minute
earlier than you did the previous day, no download since
it has been less than 24 hours since the previous
download. I think that might be what is happening. It's
the only think I can figure out so far.

My understanding is that automatic download from financial institutions only
works if your account it setup for roaming.

Are you saying that if my account is not setup for roaming, it won't
automatically download transactions on a daily basis as at least the last
two versions of money have done? If so, what's the point of setting "every
day" as the update interval on the "Customize update schedule" page. Also,
the Money help file specifically distinguishes between "automatic account
updates" and "regular interval" updates.

Thought there was going to be an easy answer for this. Oh well.

The last two versions only automatically downloaded transactions if you
implemented "background banking" -- "roaming" is (in my view at least) the
equivalent in 2005. If you had the former, you shouldn't have any problem
with the latter.

O.k. I have enabled roaming in that I sign in to passport every time I open
the file (just like I did in M2004). However, it still doesn't update the
accounts at startup. In M2004, you started up and, if it was the first
startup after midnight, it would connect to the banks and download
transactions. This morning, I opened M2005, went and did something else for
an hour and it still hadn't updated even though the last time it updated was
yesterday.

I'm loving M2005 so far but wish it was like M2004 in this respect. At the
least, I'd like to figure what M2005 is set to do.

Re: M2005: No download at startup (BTW, I Like M2005) by Larry

Greg is correct here... Even thought the option says "Download Updates at
Startup" it only does it once per 24 hours. And this 24 hours is to the
minute. Kind of frustrating seeing that my bank updates their online info
at 2AM and sometimes I am using Money at 12:01AM... which of course means
that I will miss 48 hours of stuff unless I manually update sometime after
2AM or make sure that I am not using Money (or start it up) between 12AM and
2AM.

I am pretty sure this is a bug. I believe the option is supposed to update
no matter what each time Money starts. So it really should work the way
Greg wanted it to.

No easy fix to this unless MS gets it right.
