I'd happily pay double to get back a functioning copy of my Microsoft Money
2001. It quietly downloaded all transactions from everywhere, it never
pestered me with ads, it didn't create duplicate accounts and then refuse to
merge them, it didn't time limit how long it would run, and every message had
a help button explaining what to do.

Microsoft: throw out your code base and go back to the 2001 version! Give
us a product that works!

"The service that allows you to download transactions from MSN Money My
Accounts has been disabled. Close and reopen Money. If the problem persists
then try turning the service off and then re-enabling it. If the problem
still persists you will need to re-enable the service with a new Windows Live
ID."

I couldn't agree with you more. I hate the program. I read up on
converting the data to Quicken and could tell by reading it the database
would be completely corrupted so I didn't bother. But it has turned into a
horrible program.

I agree as well. I have been a user since '95. My file has grown to over
13mb, and thats after I export each previous year, every year. I can't
stand how difficult it is to setup money up to use a different sign on for
different accounts at the same bank (yeah, you can do it but its a pain and
for me it causes a very irratatting duplicate account to occur for the first
account.) And don't get me started on deleting duplicate accounts that
Money makes each time I try to setup an account online...

Each year money gets worse as it they try to market it ever more to the lame
brain computer user. I hate the web like interface (I hate HTML interfaces)
and frankly could due without the fact that the program takes over the
second I open it to check *something* online (all my accounts are setup to
get updates on demand vs. automatically, still it takes over for that first
minute or so after I open it).

Above all, I really HATE the fact that I can't use it any longer on my PDA
(Pocket Money 05 does NOT function on MS Windows Mobile 5!!!! Can someone
say unified products?). I have money 2005 and I am DREADING moving to the
newest version (Though I HAVE TO because of they only support it working for
2 years after deployment) as I am sure it has become even more "user
friendly". That latest update to the online engine really did a number on
me and I am REALLY considering switching. The trouble is Quicken doesn't
seem to be all that much better and I have this huge problem with setting up
a new file and ePay setup. I hate being forced into a corner.

Which is really the main issue. There really is no real competion out
there. Sure you have Quicken but I am sure (from past experience with older
versions) that there are also irratating issues with it. Its the Microsoft
story, it is what is, live with it. What choice do we have?

Thanks,

Matt

I think that money plus seems quite functional, but I'm staying with my
working verison of money 2001 because of the account register-update-cash
flow feature that is crucial. It doesn't slow down functionality at all --
i don't understand why they did away with it. I have yet to find a
compelling reason to update.

There now are clients for WM5 -- do a search here (or on the web) for

I just received a noice that my free update function is not free after 2
years and I can not download my financial information. What a ripoff. This is
the last straw. i am switching to Quicken!

I think they did the service expiration thing first. Also, please let us
know your data migration plans.

Wow Dick! I can hear all those frustrations. How come we long time
users of Money seem to manage OK? Maybe because we DON"T always rely
on automatic downloads of all our financial data. Maybe it's because
we have SOME sense of accounting theory and logic to make sure our
entries are correct and make sense. I find Money 2007 to work great
for my needs in managing my personal finance. I will upgrade to PLUS
when the product hits the stores in my area. If Microsoft should
eventually stop supporting the product, I have no doubt in my mind
that Quicken will develop a converter for all of us. There are enough
people around to justify the effort. JMHO. Steve

IF Money were out of the picture, Quicken's price might double as well. I'm
less sure they'd do a converter. Even with the price doubled, they might
still not have a cash cow for the number of Money users who would migrate to
pay for the code. (Code is EXPENSIVE.) The last time I read an Intuit 10k
Quicken was their least profitable product area. By a long shot.
