Yes. Closing the account does not prevent from downloading new transactions
into it.

Every Microsoft representative will readily tell you how deeply they
understand your problem and how terribly they are sorry for the
inconvenience it might have caused. They are always on your side, already
for the 2nd release where this effect is present.
DA> I have this problem with other accoutns too (like mutual funds). Is
DA> this a bug?
No, it is by design. It was made in Money 2005. In 2006 there was a radical improvement:
the duplicate account now becomes closed, which, however, does not prevent
downloading duplicate transactions and reporting them in 1,000 places,
screwing pretty much everything. But hold on, we are now only one step/one
year/one release/one$70 payment for the product, or whatever it costs today,
from the ultimate solution of not downloading the transactions, like it was
only 2 releases ago.
DA> How can I get Money to only download transactions for the accounts I
DA> specify in each user/password online account in MOney?
You can't. Open a tech support incident with Microsoft, listen to their
recommendation, which will be closing other bank accounts; keep the incident
open as long as you can, escalate it as high as you can - all this will
increase the chance of common sense to prevail in the next version by
0.0001%. If sufficient number of customers (like, 10,000) do the same, the
chance will increase to 1%. United, we stand.
