    - money 2005 problem! Microsoft money 2005 came with my computer, but I have no back up cd for it. A while back I started having some trouble with it-it would not let me sign in. I had the same sign it and password I'd had all along, but it kept saying they were invalid. Since I did not have the back up, I uninstalled it and installed Money 2001. All was good until I had to do a system restore. Now I click on the Money 2005 (which returned) and in the task manager it says it's running but there is nothing showing on my desktop. I tried to uninstall and it says it is missing mny.cif. It won't uninstall and I cannot install 2001 (says newer version is already installed) or a trial version of 2007 (says I need to uninstall older version). What can I do?     - Automatic transactions download setup I would like to set up transaction downloads for an account at a mutual fund brokerage. I have one account with seven different funds. When I tried to add this account for auto downloads, it made each of the funds accounts, and ignored the exsiting account. I have not had this problem with other brokerages. Why on this one?     - Sold Investments with wrong amount in budget Money 2007 trial version. I sold 320 units of a mutual fund at 10.4334 each, the total amount is 3338.69. This is the amount I see in the checking account where this amount is credited, and in the Portfolio Manager. However, when I go to the Budget and I view Incoem transactions, the amount is 35.33.     - Why isn't the compound % return affected by "Return of Capital" I used the "Return of capital" transaction to report the proceeds of a spin-off in Money 2006 Standard.     - Money 2005 - Electronic payment dates have wrong dates in register I just reinstalled Money 2005 due to hard drive reformat. My electronic payments are not showing up in the register with the correct dates. I'm using CheckFree as my electronic payment provider. Example: I asked a payment to be made on 5-15-07 with the withdrawal date being 5-15-07. The payment is entered into the register as 5-09-07.     - Budgeting Woes...First of- and Mid-month Salary Withholdings To anyone who can help me out, My employer does things a little differently. I receive two deposits each month: one on the 1st, and one on the 15th. From the 1st deposit, the taxes and such are withdrawn. Additionally, the value of the mid-month deposit is also deducted and withheld (post taxes). Then, on the 15th, this amount is deposited to my bank account. I CANNOT figure out how to setup a working budget with Money 2007 Deluxe to accurately track the deposits and account for the mid-month withholding. Currently, I have set up two different automatic employer deposits where the mid-month deposit is "tax exempt income" and the first deposit accounts for an after-tax deduction to "Misc. Expense" category. Unfortunately, this results in an artificially HUGE expense for "Misc Expense" category report each month. Does anyone know how to circumvent this problem? Please help!     - Money 2002 Vista Error Just purchased new Dell PC with Vista Ultimate. Had issues with Money file updating to current. Uninsalled software and re-installed and also restored the DB to most recent back-up saved on memory key. We went out and purchased Money 2007 Deluxe and the MS compatibility site said it would work with Vista, but doesn't.     - Recording a merger where new shares are issued? I was holding 185 shares of TCPL. TCPL merged with NOVA. After the merger I was awarded 37 new shares of NOVA (based on a 1 for 5 consolidation). I continued to hold the 185 shares of TCPL but, after the merger unit value of each share was, of course, lower. The company issued a statement deeming the "Adjusted Cost Base"' of the newly issued NOVA shares @27.85 each. How should I represent this transaction in Money 2006? For one investment the 'current value' is 385.34 and the 'value on 4/5/07' is 381.14 and 'gain since opening date' is 594.15.     - Money 2007 - Work with a specific Investment In Money 2005, there was an option to "Work with a specific Investment" in the Portfolio Manager. This was useful if you wanted to dig out some historical data on an investment previously owned. That option seems to be gone in Money 2007, "Work with Investments", no longer seems to allow this.     - Money 2007 balancing = 100% CPU and not responding When I balance my money 2007 checking account on Vista get differnece to $0 and hit next my PC goes to 100% CPU and money stops responding.     - How to keep different types of reports as favorites I'd like to keep sligthly different, customized versions of some reports as Favorite Reports. For instance, have one Favorite Report showing all 'Monthly Income and Expense' items and another Favorite Report excluding some categories. So what I do is I first customize the first version of the report the way I want it, and press 'Add to my favorite reports', naming it 'Report 1'. I then customize the second version of the report, and add it as a favorite as 'Report 2'. Here is the problem: when I now go to Favorite Reports and select 'Report 1' it has now assumed the 'Report 2' format as well. Not very helpful...     - M2004 / any Fidelity issues ? For the past few months I'm receiving occasional errors when I try to "update"/download transactions" from Fidelity. ( Update prices is fine and my other accounts - banks/brokers/credit cards etc work fine so not a licensing issue). I have 3 separate accounts there with same logon info that update at once and sometimes I get error stating " Problem updating 'IRA Account'... please contact Fidelity ... "More Info: General Error". Money uses same logon info for all accounts there, so can't be a password/login info problem at my end. Try it again - get the other " There is a problem with the data recevied from this online provider. Please contact the provider' customer service dept.." Today I'm getting both error messages. I went into 'online SETUP' - connected to Fidelity - it saw my accounts OK etc. Retried - same errors. ( I tried calling them - they are not open yet). My Money 2006 app works fine so my account with same info works OK. Wondering if Fidelity made some changes to their server end that others see this issue on M2004 also.     - MSN Bill Pay versus CheckFree I have been a CheckFree customer for many years. Initially through Manage Your Money, but, for the last ten years, through Microsoft Money. I do not (and won't) use any of the "sync" or "passport" options available through MSN. I will only be accessing the service through Microsoft Money. I am considering switching from using CheckFree (as an original customer) to MSN Money Bill Pay -- still all through Microsoft Money. There are some technical reasons for me to try this, having to do with an issue in Microsoft Money. Are there any disadvantages to making this switch? I am told by CheckFree customer support that there are none. I tried signing up for MSN Bill Pay yesterday, but saw no way to obtain the Money specific information that was called for during the sign-up process (and, at the time, I did not have enough time to consult with support about the issue). Everytime I go to creat a new budget with nothing but my recurring transations and default categories Money is entering my income with a value that is over a hundered dollars too high for the monthly subtotal. It will not let me change this value and thus it offsets all the figures. I realize money goes after previous transactions for figures, but I recently started a new job. Is there a way to just create a blank budget with the values that I enter myself? Or to erase Money's memory of previous transactions without deleting my previous transactions? Please Help!     - Money 2006 From Old Hard Drive to New Hard Drive I'm using Money 2006 which is on a hard drive that's not in good shape, although not crashed yet. I've already installed a new hard drive and want to set it up with my present Money 2006. However, to download Money 2006 from Microsoft for the new drive I go through steps that seem to end up with a downloaded trial version. Changing the trial version, as I understand, requires a Windows Live ID password that is the same one used when I purchased Money 2006 some months ago. I'm one of those people who likes to change passwords now and then so although I have a Live ID password now it isn't the one used when I purchased 2006 and that means I can't change the trial download.     - Transactions not updating properly I am considering switching from Quicken to Money 2007 mostly because of the unreliability of the Intuit quotes service (I'm currently running both programs while I evaluate which I will stick with), but I've run into a problem with Money that is a significant negative. When I update transactions from my several brokerage accounts, although the downloaded statements clearly show the buy and sell transactions, they are imported into Money only as "add shares" or "remove shares" items with "assumed" purchase and sale prices that are different from what is accurately shown on the downloaded statements. I then have to manually correct each transaction from an add or remove to the correct buy or sell and correct the price so that the cash balance for the brokerage account and capital gains analysis will be correct. Have I set up something incorrectly in the online update settings, or is this a known problem with Money? I should mention that I have no such problems with Quicken on updating my accounts (although that program has enough other problems that I thought switching to Money would be a good move).     - credit card payments i don't understand what to do , in order to make a credit card payment. i gave you an example: i bought a computer that cost me 1000$. i I'm paying for it through my credit card , 5 equal payments of 200$ each. my credit card debt stand on 0$ (before the computer). my credit card debt stand on 1500$ (after the computer). now, On may 10th i need to pay 200$ - i need to see how much i need to pay in may (I'll probably have more purchases) and after that the debt will be 800$. how can i enter this info , so the program will show me what's really happening in my accounts. hope that's possible. thank you very much Tag: converting to money 2006 Tag: 223100

    - Refinancing a Mortgage I just refinanced my home to pay off a home equity loan. I'm trying to figure out how to set that up in Money 2007. I tried creating a Home Mortgage account for the new mortgage but I don't see how to take the proceeds of the new loan and pay off (transfer to) the Home Equity Loan account. The new loan also includes points and interest for the period from when the loan closed to the first payment. How do I show that. The Home Mortgage account just creates a liability for the amount of the loan and sets up a loan payment in the Bills area. I can't see any way to show that this loan paid off the original home equity loan. How do I do that? I want to use my data on my laptop but don't find the installation cdrom so
I installed a newer version money 2006 deluxe version 15.0.120.513
backup the 2005 file I got the error : money can't open this file because
it was created using a different version"
how to repair?

I am only guessing that you mean you are trying to open a Money 2006
file in Money 2005.

Money is not downward-compatible. To be able to swap .mny files
between computers, both will have to be running the same version.
Install Money 2006 onto the laptop.

If you don't mean you are trying to open a Money 2006 file in Money
2005, then I would guess that the error message referred to an
"incompatible version" and that there are two countries involved
here. If that is the case, you will need the computers to both run
the same version from the original country.
