I had a trouble ticket opened, and someone from Product
Development" called to get some feedback on the product.
Should I "let him have it"? Never had MSFT call before,
so I think they are getting the message that 05 is a POS.

Can't hurt. Might help.

Why wouldn't you try to work with whoever called you? "let him have it" and
you will solve nothing. What other software company calls YOU about a
problem?
Microsoft is a huge company, but in my experience, when you get a chance to
actually speak with them, they are pretty decent and cooperative people (not
talking so much about their farmed-out tech support, but their actual
employees). Once, working through a newsgroup on Netmeeting (new at the
time) I got an email and a call from one of their software programmers who
spent quite a bit of time on the phone, FedEx'd me a copy of Windows 95 on
CD (I had diskettes!!), and solved the problem (which was not MS's fault but
turned out to be a corrupt font from HP). Last year MS sent me a free golf
shirt for being a "nice" customer (I had written them email). If you pick a
fight with the person who calls you will probably not be talking to the
person who created your problem and you will probably also keep them from
calling you again or fixing anything for you or anyone else with your
problem. They already know you are frustrated.

Got a call from MSFT by anonymous

I too received a "follow-up" call from Microsoft asking
how I liked using Money 2005, and if I would give them my
permission to close the ticket I opened a day after I
purchased the product. I told them I couldn't comment on
how I liked using Money 2005, because the product simply
isn't usable, and that I plan to return it under MSFT's
30 day money-back guarantee. I told the person who
called that they could close my ticket when someone could
provide an explanation how to enable online updates for
my primary checking account, and how to attach MSN Bill
Pay to my primary checking account, and have it WORK!.
The person from MSFT seemed truly amazed that I was
having an issue with the product, and offered to transfer
me to technical support immediately, but then hesitated
saying that all technical representatives were busy
helping other callers. She then asked for a time when
someone could call me back. It will be interesting to
see if that happens. If it does, I think I will point
them to the direction of this board!

And odds are it wasn't someone from product development. More than likely
one of the outsourced technicians.
