    - Corrupt Money file appears to create system instability Looking for some help and assistance correcting an apparently corrupt Money file that results in my laptop rebooting when I have Money open (but not immediately on open). Worked with MS support to try file repair (level 2 fails), then selectively deleted the accounts that appeared to cause problem (Amex and Schwab). Repair files executes successfully when accounts are deleted. Trouble is, I need them, and have been using Money as my personal finance software since 2001. 1) Is this a known problem? 2) Is is related to Money 2006, that I upgraded to 2 weeks ago? 3) How can I fix it?     - Money 2005 stuck on "Update in progress" The account list shows all of my automatically updating accounts are "Update in progress." When I try an update, the stock and fund quotes update fine. None of the accounts (credit cards, etc.) update. Three successive message boxes appear - the first two only for a second. 1. Updating account information 2. Processing Service Updates 3. Update not complete. Then the update results show an error message for each account: "Microsoft Money could not update your account. Please try to update your account again." Or "Your account information is being updated, which may take a few minutes..." I have found numerous similar complaints on the newsgroups but nothing has helped so far.     - budget not tracking a category correctly I've set up a category and set up the budget to track it. But for some reason, the "thermometer" at the bottom of the check register is only keeping track of certain debits from that category. For instance, for this month, it says I've spent $350 of my allocated $600 in that category, but in reality, I've spent over $400. When I double click the thermometer to see the itemized debits, some are missing. But when I go back to the check register to see if I've categorized them correctly, I have. Is it possible the subcategory is throwing it out of the category? Often, when I'm recording the transaction, I'll change the category that Money automatically assigns it to the one I've set up.     - Money is limited to one credit card account per credit card company. My wife and I have seperate american express card accounts (not 2 cards on the same account). On the web we have separate login ids and passwords to Amex. Money seems to assume and only allows one logon id per financial institution for automatic downloads.     - Pay Bill Download Algorithum Hi, to avoid confusion, I am starting a new thread on questions that I posted on 3/22 and 3/24 on this subject My wife and I use Microsoft Money 2004 to keep track of our finances. We both set up checking accounts, one checking account for my wife and another checking account for myself. We both use our bank for automatic Bill Payments (Pay Bill) and have run into a problem when the banks transactions are downloaded into Money 2004. My wife created automatic Bill Payments for companies that she makes reoccurring payments to and I created automatic Bill Payments for companies that I make monthly payments to. The bank assigned numeric numbers for Payees (i.e. the first Payee #1, the second Payee #2,â?¦) for each company that my wife created an automatic Bill Payment for and did the same for each payee that I created an automatic Bill Payments for. The problem is that my wife''s Payees are different than my Payees and the bank makes automatic payments to these Payees but when the data is downloaded into Money 2004, the Payees become interchanged. When I download the bank transactions to Microsoft Money 2004, Money does not differentiate my payees from my wifeâ??s payees so when I try and reconcile my account, it includes some of the names of my wifeâ??s payees and when my wife reconciles her account, some of my payees appear in her checking account. I have looked at (opened) the Money OFX.DLL file but was unable to make sense of the contents of this file and guess that this is a mapping / algorithm problem? I sure would appreciate help so that my payees are downloaded to my account and my wifeâ??s payees are downloaded into her account.     - No Unread Statements, but Statements to read? Hi, After I download my statements from Fidelity and another similar institution, I get a page with the results of the download. At the top is a caption which tells me how many unread statements I have. There is a column to the left labeled Unread which may have an arrow pointing to one or more statements.     - Investment activities and tax reporting I have an investment account. There are some transactions in it which correspond to 'Activity = Dividend'. This will give you the choice of opening or saving the file. If you want to view it, opt to save it. To send it to Notepad, open the "sendto" folder (Start - Run - Sendto will do that), right click in the folder, select new - then shortcut - then enter "notepad.exe". Go back to the folder where the ofx file is located, right-click, send to, select notepad. No cap gains show up on the "Tax-Related Transactions" summary, so I checked categories and Capital Gains show under Investment Income - and I can't change anyhting about it ( boxes are greyed out). Why is it UNDER Inv Income ? Is that something I did or comes that way ? I tried to associate it with LT Cap Gains and Money says 'Nope - can't do that' ! Played a bit and then thought I'd align Cap Gains to Schedule D. My only option to mess with the Schedule D has to do with " Form, Line # ? " Shows 4 options - collectibles, sale of a business, etc How do I get this program to tell me : HOW MUCH DID I HAVE in Dividends and Cap Gains last year ? And of that how much goes on Schedule B vs Schedule D . So that I can compare my cost basis of my sales to Fidelity's reporting. I have a category "Auto Expense" with subcategories for insurance, gas, maintenance, etc. On the report, I just want the total for Auto Expense to show up, not each of the subcategories.     - Unable to download new transactions in Money I am unable to download new transactions from my investment broker in Money 2006 Premium. It downloads all my positions, and they appear in the ofx file, but there are no transactions, even though recent transactions are listed on the broker site. The initial download (to create the account) is fine, and includes both transactions and positions. But after I import transactions from another Money account, and then download again, only the positions appear in the ofx file, no transactions. So my question is, how does my financial institution know which transactions to send? Can I set that manually in some way? I have already asked MS support for help and from my broker, but so far no luck. They have just sent me in circles, asked me to import, export, repair, etc. etc. and so far nothing has worked. To take advantage of new features, I started setting up the online services for my checking account. I was able to have Money establish a connection w/ my bank and login w/ my supplied username and password. Then I got to the part where Money asks "Are you already keeping track of any of these accounts ..." - Yes - No - I'm not sure So, I select Yes because I have indeed already set up that account (and have many years worth of data in it!). Money makes all the conversions perfectly at first, and then after somtime converts the amounts of the interest and dividends received to EUR, hence giving all wrong totals, as the exchange rate for the interest rate and dividends cannot be changed, ( or at least I don't know how to do it). At today's exhange rate 0.82720 value of 7500 USD IN EUR IS 6203, Hence the loss is 1501 eur. correct Adding interest received usd 247 on 15/07/2004, USD 256 ON 15/07/2005 and USD 282 ON 15/07/2005 we have 8285 USD WHICH IN EUR is 6853 WHICH GIVES A LOSS OF 851 EUR, which in USD is 1028,THAT'S CORRECT. My problem is that after some time money updates on its own and changes the values of the interest received in USD to EUR, hence changing the value on its own to 864, but keeps the symbols correct, all values for buy, interes and totals show US$ but the value is wrong, it should be 1028. I've checked that the base currency is EUR and the account currency is Us$, and the investment is in US$ and the country of the investment is USA, Ive also tried to repair the file but no change.     - Can't get Money 2006 Premium to download upgrade I purchased and downloaded the premium edition of Money 2006, installed it as per instructions, logged in with the same passport as I used to purchase it, imported my existing money files and exited it. Then I ran it again told it to go ahead and download the upgrade files.... it just sat there at 1% for over 2 hours!! I'm on DSL so I know it's not my speed. I've tried the steps others have mentioned elsewhere here, setting my intranet security settings to low, turned off my anti-virus and firewall (Trend Micro PC_Cillin Internet Sceurity 2006) and rebooted my machine, created a new user with Admin rights. Restarted Money, told it to create a new file, logged in with the correct passport... and still NOTINHG!!!!! I've dropped almost $70.00 on this thing and it won't even let me do a simple "Find and Replace" until its "Finished the upgrade...." To top it off when I try to go through the support site and submit a support request the Microsoft PID Sniffer can't find my program ID/Serial number. When I try to enter it manually it tells me it's not a valid number!!! It's a great Catch-22, I can't get the program to run and I can't get Tech support because the program to HELP me get tech support won't work either!!! Has ANYONE found a consistent workaround?????
