Hello,

This is the second time Money 2004 has crashed on my windows XP system.
I did a fresh install of XP and applied all patches & SP1.

Money crashed and my file is now showing incorrect balances in the
account list.
I tried the salv.exe program and it reported no problems.
I had one backup, and money must have written over it, because it too is
bad.

I switched from Quicken and now regret it.
If I cannot resolve this issue, I am dumping Money.

Sorry to vent, but I really do like the program, but am gun shy now.

Frank

Try using the File Repair built into M2004. File > Repair Money File > Quick
file repair.

I apologize for not having a solution to your problem. Only a
question. What was it about Quicken that made you switch to MS Money?
I'm running into an MS Money bug, as well, and would like to switch
the other way.

Thanks.

Are the balances correct in the various registers?

Is there a difference in the Today's Balance and the Ending Balance
at the bottom of each register?

Do any of the balances change when you change the View
All/Unaccepted/Unreconciled in the register?

If you are having problems with money, you will have problems
with quicken, peachtree or gnucash.

The register balance changes if I select all months or last 12 months.

The Account List is still wrong.
I'm at a loss as to how to correct this.
I'm also afraid it will happen again.

Thanks

Frank

I never had a problem with Quicken regarding balance.
I chose money because I like the overall integration of it.

Re: I'm angry @ money2004 - resolved by Frank

Hello,

I finally got my balances corrected.
I had several draft transactions that occured after the crash.
These were not visible in the register, but in the view bills listing.

I deleted these and did a file fix and the balances returned.

I'm still a little gun shy that this might happen again.
I plan to do better backups.

I have been using Quicken for years and years, upgrading along the way. I
am presently using Q4 Premier for Home & Business Revision 5 (up-to-date),
and am frustrated by the flaws.
I sold some stock, complete liquidation, a while ago, and I can't get the
sale properly entered into the Quicken system. Though Q shows that I had
the right number of shares, it won't let me enter than number of shares as a
sell. Seems to think I had about 20 fewer shares for this purpose. This is
idiotic. I use LIFO accounting.

There are other bugs, but this one is making me consider a replacement to
Quicken.

THANKS for following up and reporting your remedy.
I'm considering switching to Money, so I'm scouting for complaints like
yours.
