Mass change of transaction types to Transfer trouble. Suggestions
background: I am currently using Money 05 and have transfers forms on. In
2002 I had money all up to date in my banking life and stopped using it
because of one problem or another. I just logged onto each of my banks and
downloded all the missing information to date. In one bank I have a checking
and savings account in. The file I downloaded from the bank has transfers
incorrectly marked as deposits and withdrawls and nothing linked together. I
also have money 07 trial installed on a different pc running a copy of the
above database (for testing.)
What I want to do is select all 200 transfers and change them from a
withdrawl (or deposit) to a transfer. Money will let me select them one at a
time and change them but, it will take days to fix all the transactions. If
I do a find replace, it will not let me replace the transactions with a

M04 data file: can I export to Quicken and import it back ?
I may have a corrupt money data file and it seems my backup file has
also got corrupted. I can open a new data file and one that was backed-
up over 2 years ago but not the one from last weekend.
Have tried the recovery steps outlined in microsoft suppport base,
tried the salvage tool (quick repair seems to work but not Level 2
standard repair), upgrading to M07, a demo version of the "recovery
for money" and also exporting to excel using the UltrasoftLink add-in
but with no luck..
It seems the two options left to me are -
1. Can I import into quicken , hope for a miracle and if the miracle
works, export it to M04 ?
2. Use a data recovery service..
Any thoughts if #1 has worked for anyone and also are there any other
options available ? Hate to lose the data

Cannot connect to quotes server
All of a sudden, I'm unable to connect to the quotes server using my primary
computer. My back-up, a laptop,connects fine.
My Internet connection is OK - I can browse with no problem. The
connectivity problem exists only with MS Money. I've turned off the firewall.
Using XP with SP2, MS Money 2007 Deluxe.
Any help would be most appreciated!

M2006: Why do future transactions show in current balances?
I schedule future payments and transfers online with my credit union
and manually record these in M2006. Why do these transactions show up
in the effected accounts' current balances?

New computer
Hi All!
I just recently upgraded to a new computer and am trying to get Money to run
properly. I am not sure if it is supported, but I installed M07 Business on
my new Vista Machine. It installed with no problems.
I transfered My Money file over to the new system. Opening money, it shows
all of my accounts and balances properly.
The problem I am having is that when I try to do online updates, it hangs
forever and never downloads the updated info from my bank.
If I cancel, I get an error message that says... "Money was unable to
contact the Internet, banking, or brokerage server because the server name
was not recognized. Click connection settings in the tools menu and verify
that your internet settings are configured correctly. (OFXIE12007)"
I am able to connect to the internet just fine and I have checked the
settings and all appears to be well. Am I missing something?

Mortgage/Loan Setup
What is the best/easiest way to setup a loan that tracks all my transactions.
I've tried a number of different approaches to have Money calculate a term
of my loan. However it doesn't seem to matter which term I leave blank, it

Initial Account Sync with Fifth Third Bancorp
Program: Microsoft Money 2007 Deluxe
OS: XP
Bank: Fifth Third Bancorp
I just purchased and installed the software. I added a credit card account
(Chase), which synced fine on the first try. I then added my banking
information (checking and savings). That account is with Fifth Third Bancorp.
I have tried several times to sync and it always gives me the following error:
Microsoft Money could not receive information from your bank or brokerage.
Please set up this account again. if the problem continues contact customer
support. Money was unable to complete the opreation. The Internet, banking,
or brokerage server you were trying to contact encountered an error. Please
try your call again later. (OFXHTTP500)
I have verified that my log on information is correct. I called my bank and
they said that they show the syncs all processed successfully, but the
information is obviously not importing. I have also verified that Money is
set to sync through MSN Money and the correct username/passwords are working
there. I have double checked my virus software and firewall. Nothing works.
Chase continues to update, but Fifth Third always gives the above error.
At one point i tried manually importing the account information, but that
generated other errors and it would not fully import, so I deleted the
information and tried to re-add everything again. However, I keep getting the
same errors and the bank is certain everything is fine on their end.
I am extremely frustrated, please let me know if you have any suggestions as

Money 2004 is broken, could recent updates be the culprit?
When I first start money, everything looks fine on my homepage. If I go to
one of my accounts, then try to delete a transaction, I get a message saying,
"An error occurred, but Money ran out of memory while trying to retrieve and
display details about what happened." The message box has two option
buttons, "Yes" or "No," with no explanation of what I am saying yes or no to.
If I then go back to the homepage, my home page now looks like this:

None of the homepage items show, and in the left-hand pane text and menus
are stacked on top of each other.
If I try to close money, I get an error message saying: "Not enough memory
is available. If you have several applications open at the same time,, you
might need to close one of them before starting Money."
The only way to get money to close is to kill msmoney.exe from the Processes
tab of Task Manager.
I have tried uninstalling updates, then reinstalling money.
I have tried repairing my money file.
I have tried making a new money file.
I have switched out my RAM.
I am out of ideas. Any help would be graciously accepted.

Incorrect checking balance on main page
MS Money 2004. A couple of weeks ago, without making any changes to Money, I
noticed my checking account balance on the main page was negative thousands.

Budgets - Bills - Reports - Not all working Together
Summary:
I have a recurring bill that appears in my budget in the correct category â??
with the monthly expense of $9.95 and M07 shows that it has budgeted $9.95 to
pay for that bill. When I look at that category in several reports, the
reports show that I have $0 set aside for that category, and that I am
overspent in that category by $9.95.
Can anyone help explain how/why budgets and bills seem to have a
relationship, but this relationship does not carry over into the actual
reports?
The Details:
I have typed in all of my bills into the bills section. For simplicity, I
will only talk about one bill, my Cell phone bill and I will treat this as
the only item in the budget.
The cell phone bill is a monthly recurring bill due on the 10th of each
month. It clearly displays in the bills area. I created a budget, and when
I added the â??cell phoneâ?? category into the budget â?? my bill payment appeared.
This is what my budget looks like:
Bills: Cell Phone
Cingular
Monthly 9.95
Other expenses for â??Bills: Cell phoneâ?? Monthly
0.00
Subtotal
Monthly 9.95
Notes:
The recurring bill automatically appears in the budget (which is correct).
The subtotal appears as 9.95 (which is correct). I did not put in any
monthly amount for â??Other expenses for â??Bills: Cell phoneâ??â?? â?? because if I
did put in letâ??s say, $9.95, then the subtotal would then be $19.90. I would
basically be double-counting the bill payment. My budget would then show (at
the very bottom of the budget screen) that I had total monthly expenses of
$19.95. This would be double-counted, and I did not want that, so I changed
the â??Other expenses for â??Bills: Cell phoneâ??â?? to $0.00, so at the bottom of
the budget under â??Total Monthly Expensesâ??, it shows $9,95 as the total.
Looks Good.
I then went to the reports section, and pulled up a report (I tried several)
â?? that showed, my spending versus what I had budgeted. These reports showed
that I had errors because I had budgeted zero dollars for the category, but I
had spent $9.95 in that category. HUH?! The budget shows that I have $9.95
set aside for the â??Bills: Cell phoneâ?? category, but in looking at several
other reports â?? I have $0 set aside for the cell phone category and I am over
spent by $9.95.
Can anyone help explain how/why budgets and bills seem to have a

Missing Investment Account
I created a new investment account - I think I did it the same way that I
created all of the others - but it does not show up in "My portfolio".
It shows up on the "Account List" under the "Banking" menu option. It is
properly listed in the "Investments" section of that list. The account
appears to work correctly when I access it through the banking side - I can
add transactions, it has both the cash and investment screens, etc.

debt reduction planner
I recently upgraded from Money 2001 to Money 2006 and I like it, but I have a
complaint. In Money 2001 I used the debt reduction planner feature and it
was very helpful. It seems to be absent in the Money 2006 version only in a
premium package. I hope Microsoft will consider adding it to the standard
version.

microsoft money 2004 - corrupt data file. need help!
Hi,
I have been using Microsoft money since 2002. My data file probably
got corrupted and I cannot seem to use it anymore. Appreciate any help
as I do not wish to lose over 5 years of data.
The last time I used it on Sat morning 2/24 it worked fine but when I
tried logging in the evening (my file is passport protected) I got the
message -
"Money has detected that you did not close the My Money file before
exiting
Money needs to verify the information in the file. This may take a few
minutes." When I press yes i get the message "the password is
incorrect. please try again"
So I tried restoring from the back-up file (my back-up is scheduled to
back-up each time I exit the application and is stored in the same
folder as the mymoney.mny file). So i used File >RestoreBackup but i
get the error message that money cannot locate the file or its a read-
only file or the disk drive is write protected.

I tried the quick repair and standard repair tool and both do not
work. I also tried the demo version of "Recovery for Money" and by
installing the trial version of Money 2007 to see if converting to
that version might solve the issue but this did not help.

like "Recovery for Money" or a service like Data Recovery usa

How to mass change the Transaction Type?
I just now figured out that I have been setting up my daily transfers to
saving as withdrawals for the past year. So now I have >250 transactions I
want to change from Withdrawal to Transfer.
It seems the Find / replace wont let me change this. Is there another way?
Also how do I setup a rule / flag so when ever it sees a specic "Pay To"
name, it will always mark the transaction as a Transfer.
Fro example- I use Bank of America - Keep the Change. I want all daily
transactions to be marked as Transfers from now on.

US and Canadian bank accounts - how do you do it with MS Money 200
I purchased the US version of MS money 2007 home & business a few weeks back.
I have accounts in both Canada and US. Though I have no problem in
connecting to US bank accounts, I do not find a list of any of my Canadian

Converting MSMoney 2004 file to MSMoney 2007 under Windows Vista
Ive been using MSMoney 2004 on a laptop PC running Windows XP. I
recently bought a desktop PC running Windows Vista Home Premium, and
(separately) bought MS Money 2007.
I am planning to install MS Money 2007 onto my Vista machine when the
software arrives.
Meantime, I thought I would download a trial copy of MS Money 2007 -
rather than wait another week for the software to arrive. Once the
software arrives then I will activate it using the product key which
comes with my purchase.
Anyway, to the point ....
I installed the trial version of MS Money 2007 on Vista, started it up
and then waited for Money to download the program updates. Once the
program updates were installed, I copied the Money 2004 file onto
Vista and opened the file from Money 2007. Money 2007 duly tried to
convert the file, started and finished the process and then reported
an error message 'file created in an earlier version of Money and is
not compatible'.
Any ideas?
As a workaround, I uninstalled MS Money 2007 and installed a trial
vers of Money 2005. Allowed it to donwload the program update and ....
exactly the same problem.
Ok, I think the 2004 file is corrupt - but no it still loads on MS
Money 2004 on my notebook PC.
Is this because Im using a trial version, or is this something to do
with Vista?

Converting MSMoney 2004 file to MSMoney 2007
I've just bought MS Money 2007, formerly using MSMoney 2004. I try to
open my money 2004 file using money 2007 and money 2007 tries to
convert it but fails. Ive had a look on the Microsoft Site and found a
knowledgebase article which suggests Money 2004 and earlier files cant
be opened with Money 2006 and later. It suggests downloading a trial
copy of Money 2005, using this to convert the 2004 file and then using
Money 2007 which will read a 2005 file. Money 2005 tries to convert
the 2004 file and fails.
Anyone solved this problem or have a workaround?
PS: I let Money 2005 download the money program update before I used

Annual vs Fiscal year report
Have Money 2003; cannot generate a fiscal year annual report only a calendar
year annual report. Do up-dated or other versions of Money e.g. business,
have the capability of customizing the annual report to a fiscal year report
by selecting a beginning month? Thank you.

Money 2007 & E*Trade Multiple Accounts
Just spent several hours configuring Money 2007 Premium for access to
both Banking & Investing accounts. For anyone having similar issues,
here is what I discovered:
- You must use the 'Receive account updates from MSN Money My
Accounts' option for all Banking Accounts. You enable this option
fromm Tools->Settings
- You CAN NOT have your Investment accounts set up for tracking in MSN
Money My Accounts. If you already are tracking this way, login to the
MSN website and go to My Money. Select 'Accounts', chose the 'Remove'
hyperlink and delete each Investment Account.
- Log back in to Money 2007 and use 'Set Up New Account' to separately
set up your E*Trade Banking and E*Trade Investment accounts.

Money 2006 & Kaspersky
I recently installed Kaspersky AV on my Windows 2000 Pro SP4 machine. Money
had been upgraded from Money 2005 Deluxe to 2006 Deluxe.
Kaspersky is currently configured to scan using the Proactive application
monitors, which scan TCP packets, HTTP ports, application file behavior, etc.
Since starting to use Kaspersky, Money can no longer connect to any online
services. If I disable Kaspersky temporarily, Money works fine. Kaspersky
isn't logging or reporting the specific traffic that is being blocked by
Money, so I can troubleshoot the problem.

budget item not in bills summary
Whne I go to Budget:edit budget I have a budgeted item showing up as if it
has been scheduled in "Bills Summary", yet it is not there. When I try to
edit it, it just takes me back to the budget page I have already been
viewing. Money 2006
Any ideas? Salvage doesn't fix it.

Can one forbid / globally disable the "matching" of imported statements?
While I'm in general quite happy with money's book keeping and
visualization capabilities, one thing that infuriates me again and again
is its idiotic "matching" functionality! I.e. again and again when I
import a .qif file from my payment application Money tries to "match"
these entries with items already in the list, thereby obviously trying
to do the worst possible job possible. None of the entries CAN match at
that point, since they don't exist in Money then and so Money obviously
tries to pair them up with more or less random entries in the list
(well, the sums are sometimes a bit similar, but that's about it).
That alone wouldn't be so bad, but what really drives me nuts over and
over again is, that even if I choose "leave unmatched" then Money often
(though strange enough not always) modifies an entry's data with the one
from the falsely matched item!! This can be really infuriating, since I
then regularly have to dig out the original data again and to manually
correct the now falsely labeled and categorized item, i.e. essentially I
have to enter the data manually AGAIN. This annoying behavior forces me
to always be *extremely* alert and double- and triple-check each
imported entry just to make sure, that Money didn't alter them.
Can't one disable this stupid matching altogether? As I said: in my case
imported entries NEVER already exist and so there should be no matching
at all, EVER!

Advice on bond originators
I've currently got a bond with a well known SA bank, I have heard

Money online/backup
I have just recently opened my money online account for backup. i have been
backing up to a usb for ages but i decided it would be easier if i just had
the balances all in one place.
i still have my backup on the usb but i find i can't get to it because
everytime i want to access it money wants me to sign in to money online and
the accounts have not been transferred to the online account yet. they are
still on the usb.
the result is a catch 22. i can't access my balances on my usb and there are
no balances in the account (online) that i can access.
I also cannot access my usb backup from my laptop. i don't know if it is
normal not to be able to access an account on a usb from a different computer

Money 2007 and Fidelity Netbenefits
I tried to add my netbenefits account to money 2007, but it told me that I
don't have an account. I can log in directly to netbenefits, but can't do it
through Money 2007. Is there something special that I have to do? I tried to

Grocery Coupons - How to post transaction
I have MM2007. How do I post grocery coupons when I split the category's.
Is it an expense or a income? Really confused because when I post it as a
negative expense in a category it doesn't reduce what is the category total.
Like I spent 5.00 on Laundry detergent. I had a $2.00 coupon. I listed
$5.00 under household-laundry expense, then I posted a negative $2.00 to
Household Laundry expense. When you look at Laundry expense it shows $5.00.

Investing links disappeared...
Hi, I have Money 2005 Premium on my "main" machine and have downloaded Money
2007 Deluxe on a test machine to see how it would handle my current data
file. The upgrade was seamless and everything worked normally. Both
versions looked the same but 2007 seemed to be accessible after opening more
quickly than 2005. Anyway a couple days after I did this, I opened 2005 on
my main machine and clicked on investing on the tool bar on the top. It went
to the investing page, but the link to "my portfolio" was no longer there.
Also the links that are normally across the top of the investing page such as
"Investing home, Investing tools, Market news, stocks, etc" are only visible
for about half a second before they disappear. What is really strange is
that the same behavior is exhibited on the test machine running 2007 and I
have not been moving the data file back and forth since the initial install
of 2007. Also, I do not use MSN bill pay. Has anyone else seen this

Downloading CC transactions not working...
When I update my accounts in Money 2007, they all finish updating without
errors except my credit card no longer downloads the new transactions. The
"Bank Balance" will be different than my "Adj. Balance" but the new
transactions will not be downloaded.
I've tried turning off online updates for the CC in question and enabled it
again and it did download a bunch of transactions... From over a month ago,
that were previously downloaded.

I attempted to repair my money file by removing all bills (often referred to
as nuke bills) and received an error message that Money had difficulty
either reading or writing my money file. When I click send error message I
received a response that obres:1 was not in the knowledge base. I next did
a full file repair (which found no errors) and the new file generates the
same pattern.
Any suggestions appreciated. I know that my bills have had many versions.
Many of them have existed for 8 years.

Anyone know why my sounds are no longer there? This happened have =
uninstalling IE7. Since then MSM 2007 has the sounds listed in control =

Money 2006 net worth bug
I have noticed that one of my net worth over time favorite reports refuses
to load. If I watch the CPU, it appears that $ is in an infinite loop with
the load bouncing back and forth between 50 and 80%.
But the really amusing thing is this: during the loop if I select "custom
date", change either the start or stop date (move either to a new date, or
just touch one - change a date and move it back) and select the APPLY
button, the load will converge. If you select the OK button, the load will
not converge.
I have saved a net worth report that converges and attempted to reload it
via the Favorites option, and it loops. I have performed quick and standard
database repairs with no resolution. However, I suspect that there is some
problem in my database/budget since I have other, more simple reports that
do not loop. But... what's REALLY interesting is that there seems to be a

loan amortisatio chart not updating
Hi,
I use MS Monet 2007 premium. I have created a loan amortisation account
which breaks up my monthly instslment into pricipal and interest. The loan
commencd from 7 October 2005 and is for a period of 5 years. The problem is
that the loan account does ot show any loan instalments beyond 7 October
2006 (exactly 1 year after the commencement). Why is this happening. Why
is the account not updating with instalments which have been debited to my
account after 7 October 2007.

Close account and the budget
I have created the budget for 2007. In the half of february I closed one
account (it was sawing). The percentage from this account was added. I could
see it in my reports and at my budget. But after closing this acoount the is
no this sum (for february) in my budget any longer. I do not understand it.
This account was open on january and febraary. Why was the transaction at
this account delete from mu budget.?

No options for bottom status bar in portfolio manager
I am not sure when this started but I am running Money 2007 Deluxe under
Vista Business and I see that I no longer have any positions in the bottom
status bar when I view the Portfolio Manager. I used to be able to pick
three items to display such as Total Return, Daily Change, and how the SP500
did that day. Now it is blank. If I go to Tools - > Settings ->
Investments -> Portfolio Manager... and then the Status Bar tab I can check
whether to display or hide the status bar and then select three Positions.
However each position had a drop down menu that is completely empty. Is
anyone else having this problem or know how I might fix it? Thanks,

Setup a budget by percentage?
I have an older version on Money and would consider upgrading if I could set
up a budget based on a percentage(s) of net income rather than a fixed
amount. This would be helpful for anyone with a fluctuating income. In other
words, I could set up the budget with, say, 10% of net income, for clothing
rather than $x (which I may or may not have since my income goes up and
down). Is this an available feature?

How To Restore MS Money 2006 Small Buisiness Data To MS Money 2006
I downloaded a trial of MS Money 2006 Small business Edition, but I didn't like
it. I un-installed it and got me a copy of MS Money 2006 Standard Edition.
Now every time I open Money, it gives me a warning saying that my file is was
created using the Small Business Edition, and its Small Business features will
be disable.
How can I restore or get rid off my money file with the Small Business info
embedded into it to a regular Money 2006 Standard file?
