    - QDF file conversion MS Money 2004 suddenly and inexplicably closes when I try to convert my Quicken file. I have a folder with all of the Quicken data in it - validated - with a number of different extensions including *.qdf which starts the process, *.qel *.qsd and *.hcx .     - Money 2002 to excel 2000 on Win98SE Hi, I am a Scout leader here in Canada. The previous person in charge of our troop's finances used Microsoft Money 2002. I don't have any financial software. I was told there is a converter to take a .mny file and bring it into Excel. The file is from Money 2002 and I have Excel2000 on a Win98SE machine. Can someone point me toward this converter if it exists? I've found the converter for Money 98 but none of my searches have turned up anything for Money 2002. All help is greatly appreciated.     - Money 2004 & IE: Why do I have to re-enter my Passport account's password? I've been using MSN Bill Pay for a couple of months, since purchasing Money 2004 Deluxe. I like it, for the most part. The one thing that is really weird, is the interaction between Money 2004, Microsoft Passport and Internet Explorer. Once I sign into Money using my Passport account, do whatever, and then get out of Money, if I then try to get into Internet Explorer it will not go into MyMSN (http://my.msn.com) without requiring me to log back into my Passport account again.     - Budget Items included in Cash Flow Forecast I am currently using Money 2003 on Windows XP..... What I am trying to do is include the budget items in my cash flow forecast. I seem to remember being able to do this before, but it might have been when I was using Money 2002 (I can't really remember). I checked my preferences/settings, based on what the Help file told me to do. Then I searched the online Knowledge Base, but there was nothing that would even remotely help me.     - Bills & Deposits/Cash Flow possible workaround Having read all of the posts about how deleted recurring bills keep mysteriously showing up, I thought I would add my 2 cents' worth about how I got around this little problem. If there is a recurring bill that suddenly does not recur any more (like when we canceled our cable), and I want to delete it, here is what I do: 1) I go into the "Bills & Deposits" menu and choose the "Edit the Series" (before I even think about deleting anything!!!!!). 2) Once I'm in the Edit window, I change the frequency from "monthly" to "only once," and click OK. I also change the amount to the final amount (or to $0 if it's after the last bill has been paid). 3) I return to the "Bills & Deposits" menu, select the item, and click the "Enter into Register" button. 4) Then I go to the account the transaction was entered into, and delete the transaction. After spending way too much time (not to mention frustration) exporting individual accounts after my forecasting kept getting screwed up, I found that this really works wonders for me - I've never had a problem since, even with the "deleted" items. I never use the "delete" button from the B&D menu any more, unless it's a one-time item only (and even then, only with caution). Anybody else try this?     - ATTEMPTING TO ENTER INVESTMENT TRANSACTIONS Whenever a quantity greater than "0" is entered while attempting to manually post a transaction a dialog box appears "this transaction cannot be entered". When dialog box is closed (the only option), cursor then defaults to last entry either quantity, price, or total. If a "0" is entered then Money accepts the transaction.     - Keeping my budget's yearly numbers intact Let me first state that I am a newbie. When I set up my budget making all of the items yearly budget items, it figure out what the items income or expense would be per month. Then when I look at yearly reports it transfers the money per month back to a yearly total. The problem is that many of my items are off by a few cents--for example instead of our postage category being $2500 dollars it ends up being 2499.96. I know why this is happening and it ends up being only a few cents different, but I am putting our church finances in Money and the quality of the report forms is important. Also, is there anyway to add columns (or spaces) between budget groups on the report forms or make the budget groups print bold. I am a newbie so any advice would be appreciated.     - 2004 Bank downloads not posting My system connects and goes through the Online connection process without incident for the financial institutions (though it fails to sych with Money Central). Money knows that I have statements to be read and even knows how many transactions are waiting - but the account registers do not have the entries ready to be edited (nor have I found a way to get them into the register). I have run the Salvage utility (level 2) ; I have started money with the -s switch (both which complete without errors); I have exported the accounts into a Quicken format and re-imported them (a thorough bear of a task considering that I have 5 years worth of records with multiple accounts). I understand that I may have a possible data corruption issue - though I can see all the data up to when it stopped and run reports, etc on it. Oh, and I loaded the program on a different computer and used my data set and the problem remains. I have called the free support number and been disconnected three times after about an hour on the phone each time (and half again as much waiting - glad I got a case number <g>) Does *anyone* have a suggestion for fixing the problem or escalating this issue?     - Money File Moved/Changed Causing D/L Trouble Several months ago, I had a problem with Money 98s files, and, in the course of correcting that problem, I created a 'new' Money file that I worked from. Things were fine till my bank did some upgrades, and I suddenly was no longer able to directly download my statement from the bank's website to M98. I was advised, here, that I needed to save the statement as a file and Import it into Money. I began doing that, and things worked well. Yesterday, I found that someone else has had the same problem, and, that you folks have evidently found a fix for it. I followed these directions: "Close Money In Internet Explorer delete your browser temporary files with Tools->InternetOptions->DeleteFiles. In IE6, uncheck Tools->InternetOptions->DoNotSaveEncryptedPagesToDisk. Then open Money with Start->Run and entering "msmoney -s" without the quotes into the box." I attempted to download my bank statement this morning and received the following error message: " 'C:\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content IE5 \QD8BID6P\221598[1].ofc is corrupted or is not a Money data file. Make sure you are opening a file with an MNY extension. If you have chosen the correct file and it cannot be accessed, you will need to open your most recent backup file to access your data.' I hit OK and another window opened that gave me the option to choose: 'Open/work with an existing Money or Quicken file' I chose that, and my [correct] Money file opened, but, there is no statement waiting for me. What can I do to put the MOney file in the right 'spot,' so that when I attempt to download my statement from the bank to M98, it goes where it should?     - MSN Money Portfolio Link to Money 2004 file Not Automatically Updating I am using Money 2004 on an XP home machine. I have my MSN Money Portfolio Linked (In MSN Money, File->Import-> On my computer in Microsoft Money->Choose Link Option). My Money 2004 file had a password (Passport) but I removed it. The Money file does not have a password now. When I first link the file to MSN Money it works as expected, brings all the account from the Money file to the MSN Money portfolio, but it never updates. When I "Re"import the file it works again and updates. My understanding is when using the Link option as opposed to the Import option, that the MSN Money Portfolio will automatically update when the Money 2004 file is updated. Is that correct? The file conversion does not complete properly, ending in a core dump. The same problem exists with Money 2003 (M11GBWEB.exe). If I archive records from my Money 1999 file removing - say - all records prior to 2000, I can load the resulting data.     - Duplicate Downloaded Statement Good Afternoon, All... I have a very elementary question, but, one that has me stymied. I am running M98 and have just downloaded and imported a bank statement. The problem is that I downloaded over a month's worth of information that I already had done. I don't know what will happen to my register if I go through and clear these items as Money is trying to get me to do.     - Automatic addition to payee list I travel all the time in a motorhome, and use Visa for most expenses. I download my Visa transactions as QIF files and import them into Money 2003. My problem is that Money automatically adds each new payee to the list of payees. My list of payees just keeps growing and Growing and GROWING.....     - Fund Price Update My issue is different than the price update problems I have read here. MSN Money.ca's fund price is simply out-of-date. For example, the search for TML705 (a Templeton fund) shows the last nav price was Dec.3 Today is Dec.8 The last nav should really be Dec. 5 (Friday). I'm trying to sync my accounts from Money 2003 to MSN Money. There are
already some accounts on MSN Money from a previous installation I had, and
I'd like to delete them so that the synchronization will work. There is no
way to to this from what I can see, and from what I've read in numerous
other posts over the years explaining the same problem.

I thought I might be able to get Money to sync with the existing accounts.
Apparently that is not an option, however, because it seems that there is a
bug that makes the synchronization wizard believe that most of my Money
accounts do not really exist. Money only lets me select from a limited
subset of my actual accounts, and thus I cannot select the correct accounts
that match up with the accounts that are on MSN.

Are there any workarounds, or is synchronization with MSN Money simply not
possible?

After talking to MS tech support I've found out that there is a way to
remove your accounts from Money Central, there's just no link to it from
anywhere else. Here is the magic web page:
