I have Money 2002, Standard Edition. Portfolio: holdings
view fails to print the current date on the investment
report.Is this a program omission or can it be fixed?

Interest Only Mortgages
Does anyone know how to set up an interest-only mortgage using Money 2004
Standard? The help file refers to 'endowment mortgages', which seem similar
to what I need, but there doesn't seem to be any way of establishing an
endowment mortgage, despite the program acknowledgingthe concept.

I don't believe I am getting the correct treatmenton my

Cleaning registry of Money 2004 settings.
I've been using the Trial version of Money 2004 for the last couple weeks to
see if it was worth switching to (from Q02).
Today I decided it was not worth switching and removed it from my machine.
After doing so, I looked in the registry and it appears Money has left many
registry entries. Is there a tool that will go through and delete the
registry entries that Money left behind?

Problem with Online Services - Citigroup Accounts Only - Anybody else?
My Online Services for Transaction Data Download were
working properly for approximately 1 yr. July 15th was my
last successful connection and download. I now get the
following error: "There is a problem with the data

help". I called Citigroup and they said that it is a money

Money Deluxe & Business 2001 invoice printing problem
We recently bought an hp officejet v40 and, while the
reports from Money print just fine, my invoices don't.
The format of the invoice prints out, as does my company
name, the client information, the totals, etc., however,
the actual item, description, hours, rate section gets
printed as a huge block of black ink.
Does anyone have a clue as to how to fix this???? Thanks

(or basis) of stock? It appears to me that it does not
have an effect on the basis and that is not how the IRS

Does this headline look familiar? Of course it
does. You most likely have just seen this story
recently featured on a major nightly news
program (USA) 20/20 & Oprah. His mother was
cleaning and putting laundry away when she
came across a large brown paper bag that was
suspiciously buried beneath some clothes and a
skateboard in the back of the 15-year-old son's
closet. Nothing could have prepared her for the
shock she got when she opened the bag and found
it was full of cash. Five-dollar bills,
twenties, fifties and hundreds, all neatly
rubber-banded and labeled piles.
"My first thought was that he had robbed a
bank," says the 41-year-old woman. "There was
over $71,000 in that bag - that's more than my
husband earns in a year."
The woman immediately called her husband at the
car dealership where he worked to tell him what
she had discovered. He came home right away and
they drove together to the boy's school and
picked him up. Little did they suspect that
where the money came from was more shocking than
actually finding it in the closet.
As it turns out, the boy had been sending out,
via e-mail, a type of "report" to e-mail
addresses that he obtained off the Internet.
Every day after school for the past 2 months, he
had been doing this right on his computer in his
bedroom.
"I just got the e-mail one day and I figured
what the heck, I put my name on it like the
instructions said and I started sending it out,"
says the clever 15-year-old.
The e-mail letter listed 5 addresses and
contained instructions to send one $5 bill to
each person on the list, then delete the address
at the top and move the other addresses down,
and finally to add your name to the top of the
list.
The letter goes on to state that you would
receive several thousand dollars in five-dollar
bills within 2 weeks if you sent out the letter
with your name at the top of the 5-addressee
list. "I get junk e-mail all the time- and
really did not think it was going to work." the
boy continues.
Within the first few days of sending out the
e-mail- the post office box that his parents
had gotten him for his video-game magazine
subscriptions began to fill up with not
magazines, but envelopes containing $5 bills.
"About a week later I rode my bike down to the
post office and my box had one magazine and
about 300 envelopes stuffed in it. There was
also a yellow slip that said I had to go up to
the post office counter. So thought I was in
trouble or something (laughs)." He goes on- "I
went up to the counter and they had a whole box
of more mail for me. I had to ride back home and
empty out my backpack because I could not carry
it all.
" Over the next few weeks, the boy continued
sending out the e-mail. "The money just kept
coming in and I just kept sorting it and
stashing it in the closet, I barely had
time for my homework." He had also been riding
his bike to several of the banks in his area
and exchanging the $5 bills for twenties,
fifties, and hundreds.
"I didn't want the banks to get suspicious, so
I kept riding to different banks with like five
thousand at a time in my backpack. I would
usually tell the lady at the bank counter that
my dad had sent me in to exchange the money and
he was outside waiting for me. One time the lady
gave me a really strange look and told me that
she would not be able to do it for me and my dad
would have to come in and do it, but I just rode
to the next bank down the street (laughs)."
Surprisingly, the boy did not have any reason to
be afraid. The reporting news team examined and
investigated the so-called "chain letter" the
boy was sending out and found that it was not a
chain letter at all. In fact, it was completely
legal according to US Postal and Lottery Laws,
Title 18, Sections 1302 and 1341, or Title 18,
Section 3005 in the US code, also in the code
of federal regulations. Volume 16, Sections 255
and 436, which state a product or service must
be exchanged for money received.

Money Deluxe 2004
I purchased Money Deluxe 2004 on Thursday, installed it
that evening converted my MS Money 2003 file and was
rewarded with an inability to enter my accounts from
the "Account List". I can access these accounts but not
through the "List". I receive an Error Message that re-
starts the program and asks to send a "Report" off to
Microsoft with all the gory details. I'm not sure how this
report will help, as, after reviewing the contents, I
don't see any reference to me at all. I sent in a request
for e-mail support that evening and have not been
contacted yet. I also tried installing M2004 to another
computer of mine with the same result, Program Stop,
request to send report, and re-start of the program.
Again, without being able to access my accounts from
any "Account List" icon or link. My immediate "fix" was
to un-install Money 2004 and re-install my Money 2003 and
await the response from MS. That is where I'm at as I
write this.
The little bit that I ran M2004, there wasn't much that I
saw that made me want to keep the program. As I saw on
another thread, I might be better off waiting for M2005
and simply asking for my money back ("30 day money back
guarantee"). Anyone else run into this situation?

Restoring my backup file
I was instructed by a rep at the number I called for
warranty repair to perform a system recovery (system
restore did not have any previous saves) due to this
Blaster worm. At the time, neither I nor the rep I was
speaking to know that this was a worm. Now my computer is
back to normal (although all of my settings are gone) but
I am not able to restore a previous backup of Money (2002
version). The previous files I kept are still under the
Program Files\Microsoft Money directory, but when I try
to access them, it says:
Money cannot locate 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Money\Filename' or cannot open it, possibly because it is
a read-only file or you do not have permission to change
it or your disk drive is write-protected.
If you have chosen the correct file and it cannot be
accessed, you will need to click OK and open your most
recent backup file.
If the file is being used by another application, close
it in the other application and click OK to try again
I checked the properties of the basic money file, and
unchecked read-only, just in case. I also verified that
I'm logged in under XP as the Owner (wasn't sure if it
would help but didnt want to leave anything to chance),
and I have no idea how to tell if my entire C:\ drive is
write protected.
When I tried restoring a recent backup, it says:
The new file 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft Money\Filename'
cannot be created. Please check for one of the following
problems:
The filename cannot contain any of the following
characters: \/:*?"<>|.
The file cannot be created on a disk that is write-
protected or doesn't have enough space
You cannot replace a file that is currently open
Unless its referring to the filepath, the filename has no
special characters. There is no currently open file. And
I dont know if my hard drive is write protected, or how
to check.

Remove Unwanted Securities
I am using Money 2004. On the Home page under the "Investment Summary"
column, I have securities which are old, closed and have been closed for a
number of years, and I am no longer interested in watching them. I DO NOT
wish to delete or remove the accounts themselves. I just want to remove
them from showing anywhere, except if I wish to see them by deselecting the
"Hide closed accounts" listed on the Accounts list page>Change view>Sort
Account list by selection. On the "Accounts list" page, under
"Investments", there is an item listed as "Accounts to Watch". I have
removed them on this page, but they continue to show on the Home page. Can
anyone help in this problem? Any would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

date sync money 2004 with pocket pc
i recently acquired money 2004 and a pocket pc device. i am
unable to properly sync since whenever i sync the handheld
device defaults to the date format mm/dd/yyyy whilst the
desktop is set to dd/mm/yyyy. as far as i can see both
units are set to the standard dd/mm/yyyy format.
whatever i do can't fisxthe problem.

Chart to show Portfolio Value over time?
I'm using Money 2003.
I would like to be able to see the $ value I have in my
portfolio over time. So that I can weep.
Money does have a chart view that allows you to see the
PRICE history for a given stock over time - but not the
dollar value of your investment in the stock over time.
In fact, I can't seem to find a view at all that shows you
the net value of your portfolio/individual stocks changing
over time.
The best I've been able to do is to use the "Net Worth"
report and unselect all the other accounts. This has
insufficient granularity (months instead of days) and
doesn't show individual stock performance.
Quicken would do this, and since I've recently switched,
I'm a bit lost. Please help!

On the Bills and Deposits page in the UK version of Money 2001 it showed
every re-occurring bill and deposit in the future.
I upgraded to Money 2004 (US), and now it only shows the next occurrence of
a bill and deposit, is there some option I missing, or is this

investment portfolio
I have three different investment accounts in portfolio.
Each of the three accounts have the same 10 investments
in them. When I wish to "buy" shares of one investment
in one particular account, it seems to mess up/affect the
same investment in the other two accounts. Can anyone
tell me what I'm doing wrong? I would think you
could 'buy' or 'add shares' of one investment in one
account without it messing up another account.

Money 2003 Delux&Business: Non-cash credits to an invoice?
I need to credit a customer with a non-cash credit. For example, take
off $20 because delivery was a day late. I want to show the full
amount of the product on the invoice and an explicit transaction
showing the credit applied. So far,
Money D&B seems to insist on applying a credit only through my
checking account...i.e,, I can't apply it just by crediting the
Accounts Receivable.
Any ideas on a workaround?

Can not cancel Scheduled bill in Money 2002
I high light a scheduled bill in "bills and deposits" and
press "delete" but the scheduled bill remains. If I
navigate away from the "bills and Deposit" area and then
return, the Scheduled bill is gone from the list. If I
then close money and reopen it, the scheduled bill I had
deleted is back. I also cannot edit this particular
scheduled bill series. I can navigate to the edit page
but after making changes I press OK and nothing happens,
The edit page remains on the screen. The only way to

I'm considering making the switch. Can I save or not save when I choose
with Money? Quicken saves automatically and I don't like that. I use it
pretty much for basic home checkbook/budgeting stuff and also pay my bills

Background Banking Setup on 2003 Canadian
I have set up MS Money so that I use my .Net passport to
logon. However when I go into File, Password Manager,
Financial Institution Settings there aren't any accounts.
The accounts are setup, online banking is enabled for
them and I have even downloaded transactions manually.

I would like to understand how Money computes its "forecasting elements" ???
For example last year I have spend 241 ? for buying new glasses. Now Money
is inserting in the treasury screen a new "forecasting element" which is
related to this spend. The problem is that it removes 60 ? per month and
during several monthes (much more than 241/60)... Where does this value come
from compared to the 241 ? ? Why is it inserted during a so long time in the
forecasts ???

Loans- intrist rate changes daily
I have two loans where the intereste is adjusted dailiy.
The lowest setting Money will let me do is to set it up
for once a month. This throws of the whole loan
calculation so it is not accurate. I am sure other people
have run into this issue. I was wondering how they where
dealing with it. Why doesn't Money let you ajust for
this. It is a pretty common thing. The other thing is, I
have set up a car loan. Now it is set, is there anyway to
go back and add an asset to that loan. I saw I could do
it when I was setting up the loan, but by accident didn't
do it. Now, I can't find a way to go back and add an
asset to the loan, like my car.

Money keeps printing old account, though it has been closed
We are using Money 2002 in my office and our accountant
had to recently close a checking account and create a new
one. When he tries to print account information from the
new account it still prints the infomation from the closed
account. We had not deleted that old account, as that was
one recommendation, but he was able to back up the old

Where are the Loan Proceeds?
I have set up a loan in Money 2003 Canadian Edition.
The loan proceeds are being deposited into one of my
other accounts. However, MS Money doesn't give me an
option to deposit it anywhere. Now that the loan account
shows a negative balance (the amount borrowed), I cannot
transfer money from that account to my other account
without the loan amount effectively being doubled.
Now I am only showing one side of the transaction.

Forecasting in Money 2002
For some unknown reason my 'Cash Flow' function stopped working in MS Money
2002. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I might fix this problem?

Money 2002 won't sign in to Passport
I recently switched ISPs and about the same time, Money
2002 won't sign in to Passport so I can't do background
online banking (more of an annoyance than anything). I
have checked all my firewall's settings (I moonlight as a
network admin when I'm not busy developing apps at work)
and have found no problems. I've even reset the switch to
be sure.
I have contact my ISP and they assure me that there are no
proxies in place. I can, however, sign in to Passport via
Windows and MSN Messenger, and every Passport-enabled site
works fine - it's just Money.
So, before I upgrade to 2004, I want to make sure I'm
getting my money's worth. Can anyone tell me if they've
had problems recently with Money 2002 and Passport?
(Besides some other problems like removing your Passport
account before removing it from Money as I've seen in
prevoius posts.) Or is it just me?

Trial M04: Mutual Fund prices not updating
When does money update the prices on Mutual Funds? I am looking at the
portfolio view in Money and it shows me the closing prices for wednesday
August 13th, yet I'm writing this the evening (11pm) of August 14th. I've
told Money to update the prices and it apparently does so as there is no
error reported. My other holdings (for what it's worth, they're stocks) are
showing the closing prices for August 14th. The particular mutual funds in
question are FBGRX, FEQIX and FUSEX.

Money 2004 online quotes don't download
I just updated to Money 2004 today and now I can't get any online quotes
downloaded. Money 2003 was OK.
Anyone else have this problem or is this what I paid $32 to update for?

Money 2004 trial - error on online setup
I have been a Quicken user and wanted to try MS-Money
2004. Having downloaded the trial version and after
converting my Quicken file, when i try to setup on-line
services of any financial institution it gives me
error "microsoft money has encountered a problem and
needs to close ... " . I tried it after creating a new
file with one account and no transactions, with the same
result. My system has 512 MB of RAM and still has 2.5 gigs
free on hd.
Is it that the trial version will not allow me to do this
or anything else is going on ? Any help will be greatly
appreciated.

All of sudden, the tune that plays when you first open up
Money 2004 is missing. All I hear is a beep and that's
it.

Missing transactions in budget
I have been using M '03 for a few months. I have set up a budget and
all seemed well.
I have a scheduled deposit (twice a month) in the category
Deposit:Salary. These transactions go back a few months and show up
fine in Monthly and Category reports. However, these deposit
transactions are missing from Budget reports and current budget
status. I can't imagine how transactions can be there for
transaction reports but not for budget reports.
And this bad behavior just seemed to start happening this week.

Resetting Money 2000
Is there any way to reset Money 2000 short of
uninstalling? In other words, how do I get it to let me
start over without having to compete with all the info
that's been put in before? We stopped using the program
sometime last year and now I want to start using it again
anew.

Oh, the frustration with simple budgeting and bill paying
I uninstalled Money 2003 to 'start over'. Prior to the
uninstall, Money's annual budget reports were showing
dollars automatically adding to the monthly line item of
the budget equal to the amount of an account's
transaction, e.g., a bill paid in the amount of $50
automatically upped the budget for that month by $50. Why?
Also, when I started over, Money unfortunately remembered
in the annual report budgeted numbers used prior to the
uninstall. How can I get rid of those to have a'pure'

Money 2003 - Portfolio View Average Cost Per Share
Hi,
I'm using Money 2003, and when I'm in Portfolio view, I
can't seem to add the column Average Cost Per Share. It
appeared at one time, and then it dissapeared. I tried to
customize it, and Average Cost Per Share doesn't seem to
be an available option any more.
Does anyone know how to restore it?

Money 2003: Change investment type from fund to stock
One of my investments was set up incorrectly as a mutual fund rather
than a stock. Now when I sync with my brokerage website, it doesn't
find the stock (since Money thinks it's a mutual fund) and it wants to
add all the stock shares to my account as new shares.
How can I change the investment type from mutual fund to stock from
the Investments area? There are no menu options to do so and the
online help doesn't provide any clues. I have several years worth of
